The Maverick started out as a $19,000 truck and now with inflation, dealer premiums, manufacturer added accessories, and dealer added accessories, it's running about $35,000 well-equipped. Toyota maybe introducing the "Stout", a similar small truck for the 2025 model year, which may help reduce demand for this market segment and limit price increases. I just noticed that there a lot of used Tacoma's in the used market and they are mostly over $30,000.

I bet that in the end this $ 15000 will end up being $ 38000 or more. We already know that everything is a lie for the people but there is going to be a lot of money for the dealers.

They need to make a std cab / 8' bed work truck in 1/2 ton & 3/4 ton truck that has thick vinyl seat, rubber floor, auto or stick, heavy duty bed able to have a rack on it and not fall apart in a yr .. creature comfort is 2nd behind durability.
Price should be under 20k for a 1/2 and 22k for a 3/4 ton . And no the W/T isn't a true work truck.. make a old school custom deluxe that can take a beating and get you home and if course a V8 .. 3/4 get the larger engine of 6.0

Only the 5.3 has problems that i know of. I have a 2015 that had the problem. That being said been driving chevys since i was 16 have had many. My 15 is the only truck iv ever had trouble with. My 2011 Silverado 2500 hd 6.0 was amazing truck. Worked the piss out of it hauling trailer with 120,000 miles before i sold it. Had modified engine with cam ported heads long tube headers and more. Use to pull 25,000 pounds of scrap metal in with that truck just a great truck along with all the others iv owned. Got over 100,000 miles on the original breaks unheard of right. Iv had a gen 5 camaro no problem with 90,000 on it traded in for my Gen 6 great car. Had a 2006 monte carlo SS with 5.3 had transmission troubles with that around 3,000 miles kinda sucked. After that it was a great car though. But my 2015 i bought used I always buy new so idk maybe previous owner didn’t charge oil enough idk. But its a lemon not really happy with it touch screen is going out on it now. But i did nearly total it out thats when troubles began after i got it back so can’t really say if its GM at fault or just from the collision stuff idk.

Would I buy it? I think yes, but would depend on the after-sale options. Service and Warranty would be one of the final things to consider. GMC has just been out of reach of making an impact on the Trucks sold in the US and it might be their time, with new leadership comes new results. Other vehicle manufacturers are offering better and better after-the-sale warranties, so it will be something to see. Demand will be high and MSRP of $15,000 what will be the dealer markup? Perhaps putting it back out of reach of those it was intended for in the first place.

Fieros cost ~$13,000 when they came out in the fall of 1983-- the 1984 model. I bought one for $11, 990.05 with my GM employee discount. I sold it 13 mos later and bought a better, 1985 Fiero for $14,850 full loaded with my employee discount. Probably $18,000 without the discount. BUT, the dealers were adding a $3,000 markup right on the window sticker. That is what will happen to the $15,000 GMC truck. Figure at least a $5.000 dealer mark up. Perfectly legal.

The market here is for gardeners and third vehicles. It uses their off the shelf parts from other trucks. Picking up lumber at a hardware store or carrying tools to a job site. It leaves you wanting for more. You can potentially pay it off in 2 or 3 years and then be looking to trade it in for a better model before it falls apart.
As a third vehicle it works because it wouldn't be driven that much. A couple would both have their regular cars and use the truck for both weekend utility and a backup car to get to work. Maybe give a man that usually office chic reason to put on a pair of jeans. Overall wouldn't likely put on a ton of miles really quickly.

I'll wait for the $100k trucks that aren't reliable that they can't sell to come down to $15K because no one can afford a new vehicle now. Or get an auto loan now. Or buy food now..
Can't wait to see how the General "fixes" the mess they got themselves into cutting corners with established tech like the 5.3L. Here's a sewing machine with a turbo. And plastic driveshaft. And a re-cycled cardboard exhaust. Made in Tijuanna. We're calling it the Taco. Or Burrito? Should last about as long as one in your GI tract and look about the same before you flush it.
Bail out and huge bonuses for the people who screwed up. Just a hunch...
