    Hey cool video, i have an ideapad 3 gaming and a ideapad 1, and for these laptops (and probably many others) there is a battery disabling feature which can found in the bios and is designed for service and such. After your done its just as simple as plugging in the laptop charger and its enabled again
    Otherwise great video my friend🎉

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  11 месяцев назад +1

      I appreciate very much the feedback and clearing this option for people 👍
      BUT...
      I want to assure you that it's highly unlikely that removing the RAM or SSD’s would cause a motherboard short, unless the laptop wasn't completely powered down or was in standby or suspended mode. With my extensive 17 years of experience in laptop repairs and electronics, along with a degree in the field, I can confidently state that there's no need to disconnect the battery from bios or jack when upgrading or removing RAM/ssd/hdd. Technicians who suggest that might have less experience or unfounded concerns. Understanding motherboard schematics, it's clear that when the laptop loses power, there's NO risk to when working on the RAM/HDD/SSD. I can even create a video demonstrating this by trying to create a short on SSD and RAM while the battery is connected - it's practically impossible. Take, for instance, laptops like the one I mentioned, where you don't need to disconnect the battery (and no bios option) to upgrade the RAM or HDD. Some laptops with integrated batteries provide easy access to these components without accessing the battery itself. Manufacturers acknowledge that disconnecting the battery isn't necessary for these upgrades. For instance, the laptop model linked here is just one example of many that support this approach.
      ruclips.net/video/iU-oEyBmcFA/видео.html
      While these models are becoming rarer, they highlight the principle that laptops can be upgraded without disconnecting the battery, despite modern designs making it harder for users to perform upgrades, because manufactures need to make money by giving upgrade services.
      I hope I've been able to explain my standpoint clearly.
      once again thank you for your feedback, cheers🍻

      @@uFixTek thanks for the explanation, I don't doubt your right but I remember opening up a Dell XPS 15 and printed in bold letters on the battery "sticker" It told to remove the battery before swapping anything out, so yes. I do find it very confusing but you are probably very correct too👍

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, some manufacturers do make that claim, but it's very rare. the reason is that the manufacturers want people to be on the 100% safe side, so they ensure that the laptop is not on standby. By suggesting the removal of the battery, they ensure that the system is completely off and not in standby mode.

    Hey, great video. It helped me a lot. I have one issue though. As I saw in your replies, you can install 2 TB SSDs, however I recently got one and couldn't fit.
    My guess is that I didn't purchase the Samsung SSD you suggested (I got a Kingston Fury Renegade because it was cheaper and considered all SSDs to be the same). But I want to know for sure from you. Thanks!

      Regarding your question, the issue is that you got an NVME with heatsink, you can't use ssd with heatsink. remove the heatsink and it will fit without any issue.
      you don't need heatsink for the ssd up 2TB, if you get 4tb then sure you need one.

    I have this notebook and i'd like to add another NVME drive instead of a sata drive.
    Currently I have the original 512GB NVME drive and a 256GB evo 850 SATA drive installed.
    I'd like to swap out the SATA drive for a NVME. It seems possible, although I worry that the available PCIE lanes will be taken (shared) from the GPU(s) or 512GB SSD resulting in slower speeds/bottlenecks.
    Do you perhaps know this is a possibility with this laptop?

      the full size nvme (2280) can be installed right by the battery and you can install the windows on that up to 2TB without affecting the performance.

      If you are planning to install a 2.5" SSD, you can simply use double-sided foam or tape to secure it in place. There is no need for a caddy in this case. Although I couldn't find a seller for the specific caddy you mentioned, it is not essential for the installation. The foam or tape will be sufficient to secure the SSD in your system.

      for your information not all the models have that option! i been doing this for over 17years and very very few small % have that, and you NEVER ever need to disconnect or disable the battery to do any SSD or ram upgrades.
      a clear indication is on many other laptops that leave you the ssd and ram cover accessible with one screw for you to open and replace and with battery inside the laptop connected and no option for disabling it. no technician ever removes the battery to do any upgrade! a technician that know the circuit and know the schematics. but you may do as you wish if yours have disable battery and you can disable if it makes you feel safe. or remove the battery.
