- This is a video of changing the oil in my 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000-3 EPS, hopefully a helpful guide for anyone attempting the same service.
This was the slow, methodical and detailed video I was looking for to do my first oil change on my new (to me) 5 seater. Thanks.
Great video. Appreciated the orientation (front, back, left right) before pulling drain plugs, and the tips regarding aluminum washers and springs behind the filter caps. I'm sticking with you bud.
Watched your video last night to let it sink in. Did the oil and filter change when I got home from work and it was smooth sailing. Knew what to look out for and it was a breeze. Great, well explained tutorial. Thanks!
Paul Budnik thanks, glad it helped!
Why did anyone dislike this? Great vid helped me out tremendously for my first service.
Nice video! I followed this vid for my first service as I'm sure others did. The sub transmission oil Honda dealer said to change every engine oil change but when I changed it it was like fresh oil once it was draining. Definitely good video bud. The sales person who worked with me was clueless on this machine lol Honda pioneer 1000-5 camp deluxe
Great video, just did my first oil change for my 1000-5, 2017, some minor differences but nothing worth noting as this video guides you very well, thanks
What were they? Does the video still make it manageable to follow along?
Great video! Had the wrench come up yesterday for the first time while working. Was a little freaked out until researching. got 73 miles and probably 20 hours on our parents 1000-5.
Excellent presentation - thank you for your time. It is alway good to know how to do proper services.
thank you very much! glad to help, as I use videos here to help me as well, great place to share experience
Awesome vid! I"m picking up my machine on Wednesday. Upgrading from a 500 pioneer and I've got that oil change down to a science lol. Not so nervous now doing this one. THANKS!
I watch this every time I service my 2019 pioneer 1000 5 just to remember .I use Honda 10-30 like the Book Says in the Engine and Honda 10-40 Synthetic in the Sub Transmission 1.27 Quarts

Awesome video. I'm doing my first oil change this weekend. This makes it seem very simple!
justin alexander that's great to hear, thank you!
Great video! I’m not taking it in for service now. Thank you!
Great presentation!! Thanks for the effort, will be doing mine this weekend.
Thanks for the great video. This is my second oil change and its been 9 months since the first - - - my brain is not good lol. I have like 500 miles and 184 hours - - 90% cow pasture miles. I have had no issues with my machine short of the herky jerky at slow speeds. I wish there were a way to lock it 2nd or 3rd gear and not allow it to shift up at low RPMs. Have you had any troubles? Thanks again for the clear and concise refresher course without a bunch of crap lol.
Very nice job sir. I am getting after my oil change now. Thank you very much!
Issam Helewa absolutely, glad this helped!
Great DIY video! I will be using to video for step by step guide! Thanks!!!
Thank you for the informative video! BTW, what type of product did you use on your shift indicators and dash to highlight the transmission indicators?? This has plagued me ever since I bought mine in 2020.
Thanks for watching! I just used a white felt tipped touch-up paint pen. Worked like a charm!
Excellent video, very thorough and helpful. Do you know if it's basically the same for the 1000-5?
Bradley Golden thank you, I believe it is basically the same process.
Does Know if there is a similar video for the Air Cleaner??
I am running 0w 40 in my engine on the Pioneer 1000. Polaris Can-Am and Arctic Cat runs it. So it should be good enough for Honda
rugby yeah im sure that's fine, more depends on climate as far as selecting the better oil weight for your machine anyway. Not a huge difference though.
Good video
Thank you very much !
Thank you for the video . but does it do anything to your warranty by doing it your self?
Joel doing your own services will not void the warranty, provided you keep all your receipts and document the mileage to keep a record of the required services being completed.
Thanks . i just hit the 113 mile mark in 4 days this machine is the best.I bought the 5 p and it is so much fun.but you were saying about the front filter whats that for ?
Joel I'm not sure about a front filter, but there is a drain plug for the sub-transmission located more toward the front which has separate lubricant, which doesn't get changed at the same interval as the engine oil.
Ok thanks I`ll look into it .Thanks for the help.I was waiting years for honda to get back into sxs market , and I love it.
Joel likewise, it's a great machine, happy wheeling!
Great Video. Where did you get your stereo equipment?
Bryan thanks, the stereo is just an old Kenwood car stereo I had, and the speakers are Pyle marine wakeboard tower speakers from ebay.
Did the plastic o rings come with the Honda oil filters?
Did you do the valve adjustment as well? I'm wondering if it is really necessary. Great oil change video.
Thanks. No I haven't done valve adjustments. Not sure why one would have to honestly.
@@Maineyak Thanks for the response! According to my Honda salesman here in Nevada, it was also a requirement at 100 miles. The shop wanted $350 to do the valves and oil change. I thought that was crazy. So no valve adjustment on your machine? I'm thinking the same.
@@kentfiremouse u and me both. If problems arise I may look into that. Otherwise, frig it.
@@kentfiremouse Is that at Big Valley?
@@joelpotter2594 Hi Joel, I suspect you live in Reno too. Yes, Big Valley is where I purchased.
Very good video, thank you!
Great job explaining , thank you
💯
So you can change the DCT filter without draining the sub transmission oil? It wont come pouring out?
Sub trans is separate from DCT
Great vid, thanks a lot
Thx for the help
you want to have the dipstick on full without it draining back into the pan. when the engine is running it needs the oil to be at the mark bc it will have oil pumping up also
That is wrong. The Honda manual SPECIFICALLY says engine off and let the oil drain back in before checking the level. I hope yours is still running with all that extra oil in it.
👍🏽 yeah buddy good job 🤪
Thank you.
How do you change a DCT transmission oil
rugby the two drain plugs are engine and dct tank. Filling it back up fills both. The sub trans is separate with its own drain plug and doesn't have a filter. The intervals are much longer for changing that fluid.
Wash that poor thing lol. Nice video.
Why are you changing the dct oil filter but not the oil?
The new oil going in fills both the engine and dct.
Maineyak so the sub transmission has no filter? What is the sub transmission?
@@delvictor7570 correct, no filter, it's basically like a transfer case
Maineyak ok thank you
I think I’m just gonna take mine to the dealer
A hundred miles and it's that dirty
when doing the 2nd change do we need to change the DCF?
will newman off the top of my head I can't remember, the owners manual should have the interval. I think it may be every other service but again I'd have to look.
