    MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: How do you have internet at your cabins? A: I have cell service at both cabins but it is spotty due to foliage and cloud cover. I can access the internet from my cabins but have to drive to a local wifi location to upload videos.
Q: How old is Frankie? A: Frankie will be 10 in April of 2018
Q: What video editing software do I use? A: Presently, all I use is Windows Live Movie maker but I’m considering trying imovie, Adobe Elements or SONY VEGAS PRO.
Q: How do you get your water? Did you dig a well? A: Presently, I haul water to the NY cabin but at the NH cabin, I drop a kettle into an old well that was dug by hand by the settlers in the 1700’s.
Q:What is your favorite brand of cast iron cookware? A: I prefer using vintage cast iron. My favorites are BSR and Griswold. If I had to buy new I would buy a Lodge Brand. I plan to purchase this dutch oven in the future:
Q: What do you use for refrigeration? A: We have a small gas refrigerator that we salvaged from an old Shasta camper and a custom icebox that I built into the cabin wall. We make ice on site with a propane freezer.
    Video of icebox:
    Video of Gas Refrigerator:
    Propane Freezer:
Q: What do you use for cooking and heating? A: We use a Kitchen Queen 380 for cooking and heating during the winter months but we also have an antique gas stove in the cabin for when we don't need the heat from the KQ.

Glad to see I am not the only trapping who can enjoy and appreciate what a feet of engineering beavers can do. Came across a dam deep in the woods one year that looked just like the Hoover Dam. Never did trap that pond. I check on it every year. It never fails to amaze me. By leaving that pond alone I too have been rewarded with hours of viewing pleasure. God bless you.

there was a terrific documentary on beavers. Apparently, they play host to many other small critters in the lodge over the winter. It was fascinating to see what a huge difference they make, bringing the ecosystem back into harmony.

I'm so happy that you've the beavers! We've had a terrible dry spell here too, and I'd be thrilled if there were some beavers here. Creek has dried up, river down 75% and only four short periods of rain in over 120 days. Things are seriously messed up! Thanks for a nice, calming video.

    • @thebossoftheswamp
      @thebossoftheswamp  8 лет назад +3

It's messed up here too. Most of the marshes in the area are dry. We need more beavers to colonize but everybody shoots them the second they see them. People must like looking at large expanses of mud and brush. I prefer water.

It was really nice to see the beaver's work up close.
Most don't really know much about them except what others complain about their wrecking their ponds or creating marshes where they don't want them.
There is a reason for all God's creatures and if people would just leave them alone, they might just be pleasantly surprised, just like you showed in your video!😊
    God Bless🙏

Beavers are definetely master engineers. I been trapping for the county for a while and was saddend last week when I had to watch a 50+ year old beaver dam get tore out. It was massive. Around 200 yards long but the really impressive part was it was around 8 ft taller than the lower dam. I will be uploading a video of it myself soon and add it to my trapping videos. I took the beaver out so why not leave this engineering marvel..... Great video Boss.

Beavers are awesome but unfortunately for them, they're not welcome in many places. On acreage like mine, they are a Godsend. They turn my mud and brush into awesome habitat abundant with wildlife and they sure do help to funnel the deer movement. They're fun to watch too. Cheers :=)

    • @cantecleer
      @cantecleer 8 лет назад +1

Don't sweat your sub count. Your videos get way more views per sub than many other similar channels that have more subs than you do. This shows that you have a very engaged, loyal audience that continues to come back for the excellent content that you create (the other channels are probably paying for fake subs, which explains why they have high sub numbers but low view counts).
For a channel as "young" as yours, with just under 50,000 subs, getting 20,000 views on a three week old video is AWESOME. Many bigger channels would be jealous at the amount of views and viewer engagement your videos get. Just keep plugging away.
The quality of your content and the amount of comments your videos generate is a great indicator that your channel is healthy and will continue to grow, and the best part is, you are gaining an audience that really enjoys what you do (instead of a bunch of fake subs or trolls like other "bigger" channels).

+Thebossoftheswamp I love to hunt and trap also. But I never do anything around my land I love looking at the beautiful wildlife myself. I go out 15 or 20 miles away from my land to hunt. I want the animals to feel safe knowing nothing goes on where they play and rest makes my life better seeing those beautiful wildlife animals not being scared. Great video as always...

Your right about the give and take part. It's to bad so many people just take, its a very small thing for the beaver to just want to be left alone. But for some that's to much to expect I guess.
    Keep up the good work!

There is an angel over your left shoulder @ 1:06 ; ) The geese flew right by it. Maybe the white herons are actually snowy egrets? May you reap the rewards of all you've given to your subscriber's. We appreciate all your effort in making videos to share with us. God Bless.

I love beaver marshes and ponds...IMHO they increase the amount of wildlife and they copping trees for future growth.

Amazing creatures. I certainly share your respect for these animals.
Although I enjoy trapping these animals, I will never clean them out, nor will I bother them if they are not bothering anyone else.
    Great video.

Beavers sure can be destructive and they're not a good it for every place they decide to colonize. Up here though, they are hated and I get calls to remove them and most of the times it's just from empty muddy marshland like what I have here. Filling it with water makes it so much more enjoyable, all species of wildlife flock to it and the ponds funnel deer and improve the hunting. I'll take the beaver over mud and brush any day :-))

    Harmony!!! Cheers to that.
A large screen over the culvert may be the enough to keep the beavers
from swimming into the danger zone. Cheers Boss!

That works sometimes but most of the time they walk up and around it. They are so hated up here it's sickening.

I have a healthy respect for wildlife. Like you, I enjoy the antics and carrying ons of all the critters. I also enjoy growing and hunting meat for the family. You really opened my eyes to just how important a role these critters play in this world. After seeing the footage of the pond being built and maintained, I just really understand how we must live in harmony and balance with all critters. Cheers Boss from way up here in Canada, the land of the beaver Yessir,

Thanks for the updates, your 'show' is very good. I like the idea of letting nature gather water for you. We should work with nature, not against it. I gave you a thumbs up. I like your inspirational comments. Like giving more than you take, and being rewarded. Thank You, and please keep it up.

Way back in the '60s I had several courses in land/forest/wildlife management. What you have put forth in these vids is EXACTLY what the professors were teaching about proper management of our natural environment. Coming from N. California where some of the tree huggers were a real pain in the *** the one picture that stuck in my mind was a radical from L.A. standing on an old stump decrying the logging of virgin forests (like how did that stump get there?). Proper use of our natural resources, the management of our environment, allows nature to maintain balance. Thank you so very much for displaying the development of this concept of balance in this and ALL of your vids. This ranges from your positive approach to trapping to the cutting of the Maple to feed the deer...I just wish I could have snagged some of the Maple for bowl blanks in my woodturning business. BZ my friend!
