3:27 rubber gasket is opposite? Suppose to be jacket inlet is open to jacket out right?
Rubber gasket is closed and sealed for in and out . Seawater side is open in the top for water vapour in.

why there is an orifice in fwg feed line? we already have a feed valve to control/adjust the feed inlet. so why in addition we need an orifice?
Good day too. I answer your question as follow. It is not my opinion. They are from maker's manual.
Orifice is for optimum flow rate to the evaporator side. Calulated by maker.
1) If you remove the orifice ,feed water flow rate will high and evaporation will reduce.
2) If orifice is too small or clogging, Less water will enter into the evaporator plates and salt will accumulate very quick.
Feed water regulating valve is barely adjustable. You should not adjust it without proper reason. Some type of fresh water generator has no regulating valve. They just install Orifice. So, regulating valve is not a must-have item, but the orifice is. Thanks
