- Originally in 2007 the first episode of Operation Overdrive premiered on Jetix. I remember my exact feelings sitting down watching this garbage and being extremely frustrated with just about everything I saw. Majority of these characters don't work for me & the story was in rush mode from the opening credits. After my viewing Operation is one of the worst seasons in Power Rangers history.

Also, Will's actor is a thief. After the first PowerMorphiCon, he stole an autographed banner from the poor that was meant to be given away by the Make a Wish Foundation and has never returned it. He tried to save face about it on his RUclips channel, but, it didn't work, as nobody backed him up on it.

Power Rangers left teens behind after In Space, most of the Lost Galaxy team were in the military, Lightspeed rescue, Carter was a decorated Firefighter, Dana was a perimedic, Joel was stunt pilot, Wes and Eric were 26:36 out of college, and the others were Officers in The Time Force Police. Ninja storms rangers were dojng their own things, Mystic Force barely mentioned school at all. Point being by this point most Rangers were adults.
Operation Overdrive used to be the worst season of the franchise. Key words used to be. 🤣. Good luck with the Neo Saban seasons buddy.

@@MarcusDigital "Bad" is understatement. There is ain't nothing about Neo Saban era that is super except that Neo Saban is super forcing it on Power Rangers fans as if they are bunch of kids. I can guarantee you that for every thing you don't like about earlier Saban era, Power Rangers Operation Overdrive, and Power Rangers Mystic Force, you will not like Neo Saban era because of those same thing except it is ten time worse. Not to mention, you will also find other reasons to hate the Neo Saban era even more. Simply put, in comparison to Power Rangers Operation Overdrive, Neo Saban era make Power Rangers Operation Overdrive looks like one of the best season in recent decades. That is how bad it is. 😞

Operation Overdrive (2007) -
I remember when I was eight years old I loved this season of Power Rangers but as I got older I saw the flaws in it not a perfect season but had something going for it. Compared to what we got after Power Rangers RPM (2009) it’s better then most of the neo-saban era. More specifically Samurai / Super Samurai and Megaforce / Super Megaforce (2011-2014), Ninja Steel and Super Ninja Steel (2017-2018). The only characters I really liked are Rose and Tyzonn and Ronny. I remember dressing up as Tyzonn for Halloween and I still have his morpher to this day and I also have the cellphone morpher the main five have. This season had interesting and unique ideas but executed poorly sadly. If Power Rangers Operation Overdrive had a bigger budget and better writing it would’ve been a solid season.
Samurai and super samurai were fine, but I'll agree with you on the other two.

Would you believe that the original sentai Boukenger is considered a classic by many? Overdrive is basically a dark funhouse mirror. This season was during the period when Disney was trying to remove or tone down most of the combat based action because some one was on the downlow wanting to kill the show but they couldn't due to contract with Toei if I'm remembering right.

Wasn't one of the best but had some good and well written moments to me like the episode when Mack found out he was an android. The Tyzonn storylines were done well in my opinion. I loved Spencer. My favorite villains were the Fear cats, totally badass. Aside from Tyzonn, Rose was my other favorite ranger and she was kind of cute to me. I loved the Red Sentinel Ranger form. I really laughed at you roasting the powers and weapons and I agree. I also agree with you on their skills not making sense to them being recruited as rangers. And yes I totally agree about Will, very stereotypical. The only one who really made sense to me was Tyzonn.

I gotta say I’m glad you acknowledged the issue with Will. Honestly it bothers me that many people endlessly complain that Zack wears Black in MMPR because, by that logic I guess that means it’s wrong for us to wear shirts that are the color of our skin too. Meanwhile we have Will who is a Slap in your face Stereotype yet I never hear anyone even mention how messed up his character skill is

Just watch this promo. i think its because to a 5 year old they looked nothing like power rangers to me. I grew up dino thunder, spd (my fav) and mystic force and the suits were great. Plus my older cuz who grew up in the 90s showed me the og's and i knew they were power rangers. I always thought overdrive was vr troopers or some spinoff. Plus episode 1 and 2 as a kid disappointed me.

Some of the issues you talk about for Operation Overdrive (and yes, there are a lot of them) aren't exactly the fault of Disney or Power Rangers. The sentai for this season, GoGo Sentai Boukenger, thought of them first, and Power Rangers had to make do with what they were given. Examples include the morphers/morphing sequence, the weapons, the Mercury Rangers suit, etc. I will agree with you that this season is terrible, one of the worst I have ever seen. Between the acting, the plot, and the characters, there wasn't much that was good about it. However, I thought the Once a Ranger team-up was pretty good, and the adventuring theme had potential. This is down at the bottom of my list if I had to rank the Power Rangers seasons, along with Wild Force and Turbo. Some of those Neo-Saban seasons weren't much better, i.e., Samurai/Super Samurai and Megaforce/Super Megaforce. My favorite of that era is Dino Charge/Super Charge.
Operation overdrive has constantly go back and forth with megaforce of which one is worse I literally go back-and-forth.

Um actually there were hints of Mack being an android. Remember the bad luck episode and everytime Spencer tried to say something and Andrew said he didn't know nor wanted to hear it. I think you just choose not to see it.
Nope. It was poorly communicated the entire season. How about the episode where Mack was having trouble controlling his new Zord? Being android that should of been no problem. Since when do androids have dreams? Lmao.
The drill driver was already hard to control because it had the same amount of kick back as a real drill. Even an android is going to have a hard time with that. You don't just get a new Zord, one that was already established that it's hard to control and just get it right away. Even an android needs some show some hard work.

You have to give em credit on the morphing sequences with using random objects and things like swords, trees, people's arms, buildings to rev up there Morphers. Never seen that done before

Well the costumes and weapons were part of the sentai series that its adapted from which I haven’t watched yet…I can imagine they would those who reviewed that series would say the probably say the same thing. But yeah the acting, characters, and story…yeah this season is definitly bad for a reason.

Even though I haven't really seen boukenger except for the team up movie I seemed better than the once a ranger team up but the season wasn't watchable at some points and the blue ranger was annoying in overdrive
The reason why he's called the Mercury ranger is because he has the same color as mercury metal which is silver. C'mon now. Google is right there my guy. Good review though. I agreed with every point you had. Keep it up!
He’s the Mercury Ranger because he is a Mercuian and turns into a living pool of mercury. His Sentai counterpart is called the Silver Ranger.
would agree that these are better looking car-based suits. I actually don't like SS Boonboomger's suits much, not sure if they will adapt that season for PR

During the show they did hinted but slowly for the red ranger
They lowkey spelled it out for you right before the reveal in the episode Ronnie on Empty pt2. At the end of the episode they have a Halloween costume party and Mac is literally dressed as a robot. When his dad walks in he gave Mac the "how did you find out you were a robot?" kind of stare and Mac just smiled back all naive. The butler tapped him on the shoulder with a "relax, he still doesn't know" kind of look.
I had a hunch something was off with Mac since he at one point mentioned that he couldn't remember certain details from his childhood that most kids should be able to recall. That Halloween scene was the "lightbulb" for me and that was the theory I went with. I never thought I'd be right though.
Ok I agree with u ok the weapons and stuff but if u think like real deep into it ….the weapons and their powers make sense but only for the adventure explorer viewpoint…as superhero’s and fighters not at all but ig when u are exploring u might need microscopic vision; jumping high, dirt claws , …/and the only character that make sense as a skill type was the black ranger cause of his stealing skills

@@beastie3029 I enjoyed Power Rangers Operation Overdrive as well!!! I had a blast from start to finish. I love the suits and the morphing sequence. Plus it had one of my favorite team ups in once a ranger. I recently watched the first episode with a friend and he liked it. He wasn't sure about Operation Overdrive because of all the negativity he heard but now he wants to watch the rest of the season and judge for himself. I will forever stand by the fact that Megaforce and Super Megaforce are without a doubt the worst seasons of this franchise. I remember having fond memories of watching Operation Overdrive. I was invested in the characters and the adventure theme was well handled. I absolutely hated the Megaforce seasons and I was about to quit the show until Power Rangers Dino Charge came along and proved this franchise is still awesome. Overall Power Rangers Operation Overdrive is in my top 5 favorite seasons.

They were supposed to be teenagers!? I always although they were all supposed to be somewhere in their 20’s with rose and mac being 20-22 and the other being like 26-28.
