Why did you not mention the adaptations for the heart and especially stroke volume from Zone 2? From research it seems that by far the heart adaptation account most for increases in aerobic fitness. It is called HEART rate training afterall. It would be great to see you do a video on how different intensities effect the heart and vascular system specifically.
One of the best explanations on Zone 2. I am 63. I am already following what you said. But your clinical explanation helps me reinforce my belief in Zone 2. Thanks a lot
Interesting content...heart rate between 80-95% of 60min threshold heart rate seems too high for zone 2. 95% of threshold would be an ideal tempo run effort. 75-85% of threshold seems frequently recommended as zone 2 among the high level running coaches I've seen.
My age is 63. I have been running for last 6-7 years. I have been doing zone 2 running for last 4 months. Pl tell me how long should take for me to run easily in zone 2 without walking.
Hey man, it depends. So I can't tell you here in the comments. Have you done the 20 minute test? matthewboydphysio.com/training-zone-calculator-running/

Very informative! Thank you
My pleasure Billy, glad you enjoyed it 🙂
This is probaby the best explanation I have heard. Thank you!
@@peterclarke1185 Thanks Peter, that's very kind of you to say 🙂
Very well explained, wants me to start another base training phase tomorrow 😊..What's the minimum hours a week do you recommend to see benefits.
@@LeoShoSilva I hate to say "it depends" but it really does. 80% of your total training in zone 2 is a good rule of thumb though 🙂
