When you said you feel connected with the source you're so right . I train Muay Thai but i haven't had the chance to travel there yet but my brother went there last year and trained there he said something similar . I believe every martial artist feels this way about the original place of the art .
im a filipino from Philippines... i love chinese culture so much specially kungfu.. what i dont like is what their government is doing near in my country.. im proud of you chinese people

I'm not a expert in kung fu
Guys its really awesome that you are following your dreams of reaching Shaolin and practicing the art of Kung Fu, but just keep in mind that the world is full of many other amazing things, I'd love to see a vlog of you guys doing something new like checking out other martial arts, talking about philosophy and life from new things you read in different ideologies and so on. Kung Fu is awesome, but it isn't the only thing in the world. Just some advice :)

There are many Shaolin Kungfu schools established near the school, some of them are huge and will accept foreign students. However full Shaolin monks that live and train at the temple itself joined the temple as kids, so in practice it's nearly impossible for foreigners to "join the temple for life" unless you were born in China (in which case you're Chinese). It's not a glamorous or cool lifestyle anyway. Training is very harsh, like so harsh it'd be illegal in most Western countries,..you have to study Buddhism, your diet is vegetarian and monks are celibate. I am pretty sure a high proportion of the kids that join the temple drop out at some point.
