I had a mark 1 Turbo in red with the black and red interior, was one of the best cars I have ever had, and to this day wish that I had not sold it. Impossible now to even find any mark 1's. I did trace my car, last info was that it was at 350,000+ km then gone... Not every Italian car is a lemon...
Early mk1's were extremely rapid, everything after that was just quick. We had 3 new ones in a row between 1985 and 1988. First one was the best, red and a digital dash and was shockingly quick. At the time the dealer told me they were detuned shortly after release.🤷♂️
I also had a red one pal. My reg was F550 RLY. So fast and the turbo whistle sounded amazing. Everyone in my village knew It was me coming round the corner because they could hear my turbo.
I now have a couple of Coupe's 20valve turbos and an Alfa Mito QV, along with 8 other cars, and I can trace passion for cars and driving directly back to that Uno. Intetested in what you had and have now, hopefully not a Nissan Leaf...
Yeah the Punto for me just didn’t look in any way special and the interior was bland too. The Mk1 Uno Turbo had the red accents in the cabin and that dash with all the gauges and the boost dial just made it for me. Also love the OG alloys.

Back in the late 80's i worked at a Fiat dealership. One of the mechanics had a tuned Uno turbo that would push nearly 140mph.

My mum had a fait oun mrk 1 and it drove from martham to Norwich and back with one wheel nut holding the front right wheel on luck sod

I have to agree the mk2 was not as special as the mk1 original is always best and if im being brutally honest never really liked the punto gt either
