    Yes Spike took the 2nd slayer's coat as a souvenir, from the 1st he got the scar over his eye from her sword.

      Yes, but since vampires don't scar, it's been explained that the sword that the slayer used was mystical.

    This really explains a lot about Spike. At his core, he's a romantic.Even as a Vampire doing Vampiric things, he still has the heart of a romantic.

    Spike called Angel his sire in School Hard. But technically he’d be a “grand-sire,” except they don’t use the grand and just say sire regardless of distance.

    When you said "Williams still in there, deep down." I teared up. Poor William he was so ridiculed.

    "One good day." Dang. And his speech about waiting for death, it being "they're art" and curiosity, all of it was just so haunting.
    Maybe the other slayers just needed someone to blow up the lares as a warning 🤔. Poor girl had a rough day.
    The most remarkable part for me is: not only did his caring for her get so intense as not to kill her out of pure, soulless rage, but he actually offered comfort. That says volumes about who he is at the core, even without the general conscience, even when his instincts are monsterous, he cares, "William's still in there, deep down."

    Spike got something from both the slayers he killed. The eyebrow scar he got from the Chinese slayers sword, and his iconic leather coat from the other slayer.

    One of my favorite episodes of season 5 and really the whole series :) Seeing Spike as William is really eye opening because we tend to forget about the lives that existed before being turned into vampires. I can't confirm or deny what's happening with Joyce, you just have to wait and see. Great reaction :)

    According to Joss Whedon, if a vampire is in your sire line then they are also considered your sire. So Angel would be his Grandsire and Darla his Great-Grandsire.

    Fool For Love and Darla are 2 of my favourite episodes and such brilliant a Crossover. Fun fact Tim Minear directed the FFL Boxer Rebellion scenes 🤓
    This is the first episode to really give Spike depth and characterisation and the Doorstep scene at the end is so awesome

    Going back to previous episodes you can see the poet in Spike already. Especially his talk about Angel and Buffy's relationship in I believe it was Lover's Walk.
    Angelus was evil, but he was always careful. Spike says that he went for the easy kills. You can still be very evil and not take risks. Much like serial killers usually don't take on challenging targets. Spike was more reckless.
    Looking back on this, I felt that they should have given Spike at least one more Slayer kill. All Slayers have been killed at some point (obviously). Most it seems likely by vampires. Some very mundane vampires even. So one Slayer kill isn't that big of a deal. Spike gets one more. For someone known as a Slayer killer, it isn't that much though. Obviously killing a Slayer is hard, so it shouldn't be a lot, but I think even 3 would have made a better point. Especially since Spike said he sought them out. So he was seeking out Slayers to kill for over 120 years. Some younger regular standard run of the mill vampires have killed one Slayer. Spike killed one more than that in 120 years of actually seeking them out. I think just one more would have made the "He's killed Slayers" more of a talking point.
    Angel isn't really like Liam was before he was turned. He got his soul back, but with his memories of that life, and everything he went through after that, he's pretty much an entirely different person than either Liam or Angelus.

      That's because Angel's soul is cursed and not really his own. Nor is his moral compass.

    Who would have thought romantic William would become a reckless fearless vampire annoying even Angelus. I love the differences between those two and the slow mo walk is just perfect, I could watch just that one scene all day. I feel so bad for Spike when Buffy throws that horrible line at him after he told her everything she wanted to know and even some more. It makes sense why Slayers live such a short life, one would have to be insanely strong (not just physically) to go through all the violence and a life of hiding all alone.

      I agree. Spike has the memories of William which is why he is overall more sensitive as we've seen with Drusilla for example....but he is still a demon.

    I remember ASR's disappointment when Riley, who ultimately took the situation only as a way to prove he was able to protect his girlfriend on his own, eliminated the vampire who had defeated Buffy in one fell swoop, but the thing is it was perfect to demonstrate how what happened at the beginning of the episode was really just a case, nothing but a case.
    The conclusion reached thanks to Spike's account of his struggles against the Slayers he killed sounds very disturbing; how long will Buffy's love for her friends and family keep her attached to life? Note that Spike used the phrase "lesson is over" already used by the Master in episode 1x05.
    Difficult to judge the sequence where Buffy completely humiliates Spike; keep in mind that for her, vampires without souls are beings without feelings and unable to love or suffer for love, something that Spike on the contrary proves he can do, something that makes him truly different from his fellow. However, one cannot ignore the fact that he had attempted to sexually assault Buffy, something which still proves that Spike in spite of everything has no "right" idea of love; Buffy is not Drusilla and therefore certain tactics will not work with her ..... but giving her that sincere comfort in a moment of great pain and difficulty instead could allow him to breach her heart.
    What will be happening to Joyce? The premises are anything but good ...

    I love the flashback scenes. I wish I remember what the title of the video was, but someone took every flashback scene of spike, angel, darla and drucilla from Buffy and angel and put them in chronological order. It showed how they were each created, when and how they all met, and what they were doing up until angel met Buffy. They actually made a cohesive story and made a really cool movie. Well, it was almost the length of a movie.

    The “finger” scene with Spike and Dru.... You have to watch the interview segment where James Marsters talks about this episode and that scene. Someone needs to find that for you. And cut it so you only hear that part.
    The subway/street scene is fantastic. Love the way it’s shot. And how he cries at the end. 👏❤️
    The one thing I’ve always wondered... did Spike narrate what Cecily said to Buffy, or not? Because if he told her exactly what was said and how it made him feel....then her throwing that same line back in his face knowing exactly how it hurt him the first time is just a terrible thing to do. I’m hoping that Spike did not tell her directly, and that the viewer was reliving his memories. That at least takes away the cruelty. Because in that case, Buffy wouldn’t know about how painful that comment was to him that first time around.

    • @DaveVampireSlayer
      @DaveVampireSlayer 4 года назад

      I'm afraid I have to disappoint you. It would have been too strange a coincidence if Buffy had said the same words without knowing them. Obviously it is possible but I have the feeling that it was not.
      Keep in mind that in her eyes Spike is no longer William, but a demon who preserves his memories and personality traits.
      Besides, he was sexually assaulting her, not really the best thing to do.

    • @zarabada6125
      @zarabada6125 4 года назад +10

      @@DaveVampireSlayer No, I have always read it the other way. Spike was trying to pretend to Buffy that he has always been macho but the viewers got to see the truth.
      While Buffy knowingly repeating an insulting phrase to Spike would have been cruel, I think he would have coped with it. He is a demon after all.
      Two women he has had feelings for assessing him and dismissing him with the exact same phrase? With neither one knowing the words of the other?
      That is a whole new level of pain and has to cause him to question if there is something wrong with him at a fundamental level. Not just a problem with his nature as living or undead (as the same words were used both times) but the very core of his essence.

    • @DaveVampireSlayer
      @DaveVampireSlayer 4 года назад

      @@zarabada6125 I like this view.
      I actually wanted to instill in Kailyn's mind the idea that Buffy was voluntarily cruel to Spike to see how the resulting discussion evolved. Let's say I've always loved to discuss the Spuffy relationship, especially with those shippers who can't understand why Buffy is so hard on Spike, when she proves sweet and caring with others.
      Beyond impressions or sympathies, we truly have a fascinating and complex relationship between two extraordinary characters, a "dark heroine" and a "cursed anti-hero" XD

    In School Hard Spike says to Angel "You were my sire man, you were my Yoda". Apparently this was meant that Angel was his teacher.... smells like retcon to me!
