I talked to several actual trans people Hasan’s mods also purposely misgendered after the fact, who were also banned. Whenever someone brings up Hasan getting better mods, he loses his shit. I think that if Aaron Bushnell's death was a freely made political statement, we should be able to critique that statement and judge him based on the real choices we all know he made. You don't have to be pro- or anti-Israel to do this. He had countless choices at his disposal, and he almost certainly knew he did -- a luxury most protesting under tyrannical authoritarian regimes don't have. Some of those choices could have included joining aid organizations and doing something of consequence for the people he cared so much about. It would have made no difference what the outcome of his life actually was at least he would still be alive. But instead he chose to delete himself forever. I think if you care that much about a cause the act of withholding your real effort to help the real people for that real cause, no matter how small the contribution would be, just to quit life entirely, is absurd and selfish.
He leaves behind a political performance, his final performance, including whatever he did before that, and that's all. Are we supposed to believe he did as much as he could alive and therefore it was okay? Or assume some future generation is obligated to learn from his act? Or are we to deny his franchise and infantilize his potential altogether, because the Red Cross hasn't completely solved the phenomenon of global famine forever? The defenses for this behaviour is borderline psychotic.
This is the problem I have because an act of (unnecessarily) extreme protest like this in no way equates to actual invested time and energy into real change. Actual actions working toward a goal. It legitimizes death as an acceptable tool of political speech because the unnecessary wasting of a human life is baked into the protest by design. By definition it has no constructive outcome. Instead, it legitimizes martyrdom and self-harm, invoking the feeling of action and feel-good torch bearing online ad infinitum forever and ever. Aarons death, much less his life, literally has no value beyond the goal to excuse themselves for doing nothing.

QTCinderella doesn't give people nominations and awards, they use a viewer voting system. It's just because Hasan has a big enough community that he can encourage his viewers to nominate and vote for Frogan even though most of them never watch her. Not that anyone here actually cares about the Streamer Awards, but it's the biggest problem with the Rising Star category because an actual rising star doesn't have the audience yet to compete against the people who actually win, who are just friends of bigger streamers. I like Stanz, seems like a great guy, but he won Rising Star entirely because of Ludwig's community liking him, and Frogan is the same with Hasan's community.

Destiny is a shining light compared to people like Hasan. I've become a liberal over the past five years or so. Still a registered Republican, probably will just stay that way for the lols. But people like Hasan have been such a turnoff from completely identifying with the left even though a lot of my policy positions are largely those of the Democrats. Part of the reason I started distancing myself from conservatism more and more was because the party had become subsumed with tinfoil hats and trailer trash, and those beliefs certainly aren't mine. But on the left there are also maniacs. People like Hasan subtly endorse terrorism. They won't say so so bluntly, but they will justify and minimize a religious extremists' group actions to no end ("Yeah but if you've grown up oppressed like that you'd do the same" "What _should_ they do to send a message?") while simultaneously using nothing but hyperbole to describe Israel. Pretty sick. Anyway. It is always very reassuring to see sensible liberals like Destiny push back against that stuff.

@@FukaiKokoroi think it’s important to remember that whilst far-leftism is popular online, it’s irrelevant in real life. Just observe directly what the Democratic Party is doing; none of it aligns with what far lefties like hasan call for.
You can also observe what happens to far left politicians. They either don’t get elected, or they do and are then forced to moderate their views to align better with the majority of supporters; AOC is a prime example.
Overall I think it’s key not to get too caught up in the notion that online political circles are representative of real life political circles.
