Same, I’m from Torre del Lago Puccini and I feel so deeply connected to Puccini’s music, it truly speaks to my soul, bringing tears to my eyes every time. My mother used to sing Puccini’s melodies when she was pregnant of me and when I was born, she still is a huge fan of Puccini’s operas. It’s always been part of my life. And Madama Butterfly is my favourite as well🦋
Quando si ricorda un brano musicale davvero bello, fra alcuni, si ricorda sempre anche questo. Perché? Perché il grande Puccini, che ha scritto musiche indimenticabili, ha voluto toccare i nostri cuori con questa melodia. Il pizzicato che accompagna il coro pare carezzarti, ogni volta, l'anima, mentre le voci ti mandano in estasi. È molto di più che note, molto di più che suoni: è la voce interiore della nostra spiritualità che si risveglia e ci trasporta in una dimensione di sogno, di fantasia, di dolcissima malinconia. È, semplicemente, struggente e accorata. Non ve ne sarà mai un altro come Puccini.

Indeed, it was inspired simply observing a dawn on a lake. The lake on which Giacomo Puccini lived and composed all his masterpieces. I live nearby and understand how it has been possible.

Meglio imparare a cantar bene e a tenere le note come devono essere tenute, se mai si può rubare il fiato se necessario, ma niente di più.

Non trovo alcuna alternanza di voci che coprano le pause, che non sono previste. Puccini ha scritto diversamente, ovvio, senza pretendere la perfezione che comunque è sempre gradita. In ogni caso a me è capitato di cantarlo e il maestro esigeva il fiato proprio come ho detto.

I wasn't familiar with it and I was bowled over that the composer of the musical Les Miserables (Claude-Michel Schönberg) had so obviously stolen from this for the song Bring Him Home. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but this kind of heavy duty borrowing is much more than another well-known example of theft from Puccini. Andrew Lloyd Webber stole a little of the aria Quello che tacete from La Fanciulla del West for the song Music of The Night. For that one Puccini's heirs sued Lloyd Webber.
Also, The Humming Chorus is far more powerful in its use of that same theme. Puccini didn't have to move to forte. It was piano but steady and powered by the pentatonal play so simply built and so perfect for the scene at the end of Act 2. Although the piece is about 7 minutes, the passage in the story is all night long until morning. Everyone falls asleep at a point, but Butterfly who has already had the premonition of tragedy. The effect of the expression of time is overwhelming and when woven with the music, it is the divine. As Buffy St. Marie said, "And Time is the magic length of God."
