    purple scotchbright will make the bolts and frame look factory. I put bolts in my drill and clean them with the scotchbright.

      @@caseymoto over all are you happy with the bike? Im considering doing a 2001 CR250 project, similar to what you did. Id like to make a nice trail/ gncc bike.

      @@nascarnate326 yes overall happy with the bike and had fun with the project.. was hard to start in the beginning but after cleaning carb a couple times that got better, I got ultrasonic cleaner ... I feel faster on my 4stroke but I really love this bike and it runs great.. considering a flywheel weight too... you might as well go for it, it’s a badass bike

    your axle nut is on the wrong side and you need to set the front forks before tightening them. not trying to criticize just help. i’m doing the same thing to my 2000

      thank you.. I never really thought about what side for the axle nut.. now I'm researching it - i found a comment that right side is better so if you hit rocks it tightens it.. good luck on your build

      Thanks man.i never thought about that. It was on the left side when i got it.if you want to clean something quick and easy use some green scotch brite and wd40
