I personally like the goofy stance that you see Han Solo using. It's designed to use your arm as a believer and your other arm is a counterbalance for firing high-powered hand guns. It's also specifically designed for target shooting in.
I actually use the modified weaver stance, but I am one of those people that have the problem with being right handed, but left eye dominant. So I train with both eyes open most of the time
I'm right handed, left eye dominant. I've found that I just need to adjust the positioning of my head, turning it to the right and rest my cheek on my bicep. I can shoot quite accurately from this position, but you need to be able to switch eyes too. Especially if you shoot a long gun.
I think I might be a little cross-eyed myself with a handgun, but evidently I shoot pretty damn straight with one hand. I guess I do better with rifles, since I have my whole body to absorb the brunt of the recoil, whereas my hands and arms only provide so much resistance.

This may be something you have heard before but maybe try buying a red dot, turning the brightness up a bit more than you typically would set it and try aiming with both eyes open. Your eyes will be able to superimpose the very visible red dot on whatever you're aiming at.
I do a modified kind of weaver. Dominate arm extended, non-dominate support canted. Body 45 degrees turned. Dominate arm's shoulder back and locked. Heavy support on back leg. Shooting targets and shooting close quarters aren't the same. Whatever works for you.
I hated the weaver stance. It also makes you a bigger target. Texas trains their corrections staff in Weaver, and will fail shooters who use semi-Weaver, which is a far better stance. Pretty sure that's Chapman's version.

Increased upper body strength to absorb recoil? In a moderately powerful pistol cartridge such as 10mm or 357 magnum, much less something mikd like 9mm(x19/x17) or 38 special?
How about one-handed stances? As strange as this may seem, I do better shooting a handgun in one hand, than I do with both hands. Guess y'all really know I'm a cowboy then, eh? 😂😂🤠🔫
There are many different stance's ,who knows how things will go in a situation requiring your weapon, so shoot however is comfortable for you, most importantly is to be able to shoot the gun accurately with one hand. The support hand is only a bonus in my opinion. Thats why they don't call them "handsguns"🤣
One of the strengths of modified weaver is that you are supposed to gentle push with your shooting arm and pull with your support arm to create tension that dampens recoil a bit and allows you to naturally fall back on target.
Its not natural, originally handguns were made to be fired one handed with your body turned perpendicular to the direction of the gun. This gave shooters a smaller profile for the enemy to shoot. People subconsciously adopt the weaver stance because of media.
my first time shooting was with a revolver which name i don’t know and i don’t even know what stance i had but i don’t think anyone would ever have a pistol go that back to ur face
Many people have eye dominance. It's basically the same as being right or left handed vut for your eyes. It means that you prioritize using whichever is the dominant eye over the other, even if both are open. A good way to test it is to hold your hands out at arms length and make a small diamond hole, and look at someone with both eyes open through it. Whichever eye they see through the hole is your dominant eye. My shooting instructors suggested basing your handedness with a weapon based on your dominant eye rather than your dominant hand, and my own brother is right handed but left eye dominant, so he shot left-handed. It's also why lefthanded shooters are a bit rarer, because even among left handed people, many are still right eye dominant
Not always. I knew dudes in the army that needed to learn to shoot left-handed even though they were right-handed. You shoot with whichever eye is dominant, not with your dominant hand. Additionally, a lot of left eye dominant shooters try to shoot right-handed even with left eye dominance, because hot brass in your face sucks.
