- While the NMRA convention was in town I caught the Southwest Chief running just a bit behind schedule. Following the train through Santa Fe Junction and up to Union Station. After dropping off a few passengers and picking up a few I got it leaving a little ways east. Hope you enjoy the video!
Very nice...I cant believe I just now am seeing this...I have been to your store but you weren't there.. Lol I scrolled down and already made a comment a year ago..
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Interesting consist
Loved that you caught the Chief with a couple of extra cars on it.
Great video. Drone? Any chance of capturing #4014 Big Boy in Union Station on 8/9&10/2021?
Thanks for that, I often wondered what the tracks looked like behind Holmes drywall at SFJ cameras 👍.
That's Awesome! Having only been to KC a couple of times, one almost needs a drone view to untangle the maze of trackage
Thanks so much! It is quite the mess of tracks no doubt! There is a big bluff that you used to be able to go up and watch. Now it is, yes you guessed it, Trespassing... I am sure people were leaving trash and they had to put a stop to it.
@@docgrommesh3567 I have snuck up there and made a video @youtube davehughesfarm sante fe jct...I have talked to the owners to......
Theres nothing quite like santa fe/burlington jct....more tonnage per day goes through KC than anywhere in the world... We are talking over 200 freight trains per day.... BNSF 3 lines, UP 2 lines, KCS, CP, NS, KCTerminal....It is nuts, 8 major yards.... I believe BNSF runs 70-80 per 24 hrs. just on the trans con alone...
@@docgrommesh3567 I am guilty of trespassing up there twice..
Awesome video! Saw in video, Western Auto. Didn't know they were still in business. Left Atlanta area decades ago. Beautiful capture!!!!
Thanks! Yeah I am pretty sure Western Auto is not in business anymore, or were bought out by another company. That sign is iconic to the KC downtown area. The owners of the building recently restored the sign to where it works at night again. They had a story about it on the local news not too long ago. Not sure if the city helped them with the cost of it, but it looks really cool at night. May have to get some night shots someday.
@@docgrommesh3567 Thanks for replying. Again, that's an awesome video!
The Western Auto tower is now lofts - a friend of mine recently moved into that building. I'm envious. :) Great Vid @Doc Grommesh
@@docgrommesh3567, Western Auto was bought out by Advance Auto in 2003, which then gradually retired the Western Auto name.
Nice work, Craig!
Thanks Tom!
nice shots!!!!
Thanks Eric! I have been wanting to put this video together for quite sometime. Trying to put the real sound to it just drove me absolutely nuts. I just bit the bullet and found some music.
Very nice Drone video.
Fantastic........Are you the pilot Doc?????
