One of the best sports documentaries I've seen. I particularly love when Andy Haden talks about the great Moss Keane and how Munster were having difficulties in the lineout. On a Munster ball the call comes "22-43-22" and Mossy said 'Ah fuck it, they're going to throw it to me again". Very funny! He was a real gentleman and character.
I was there with my father who unusually collected me from school that day. I was only 9, didn't even like rugby back then and have very few memories of the actual game but fantastic to look back now and stir the memories
Tom kiernan was a great fullback x I remember an Australian team touring in the nineties playing against Munster. They got their heads kicked in lol. An Irish man told me that. Great traditional against touring teams. No wonder they don't tour and play clubs and provinces anymore.
Great game congratulations to munster in 1978. This will live long in the memory and those munster men who beat the all blacks on that day would be come legends.
The AB's have lost to a few northern hemisphere club sides while touring but still managed to win all their test matches. Back in those days the tours were long and they sometimes played a couple of club sides during the week between test matches on the weekends. Touring sides to NZ were regularly beaten by our provincial sides. In 93 the Lions lost to five provincial sides. England also lost against 5 provincial sides when touring NZ in 73 but ended beating NZ in the one off test.
Great documentary was 10 years old following the all blacks from NZ for this tour ....the Munster victory was a shock to all Love the Irish accents for sure for sure 👍👍👍
+TheIrishMadMan I got Moss's Lansdowne jersey, when he played in Seattle in the early 70's. Helluva nice fella. I also had a mate who had Christy Cantillon's number 6 Munster jersey; the one he was wearing when he scored the only try of the match. He has since donated it to the IRFU. Cheers from Seattle
Hello, We took the Lansdowne boys to a local, Seattle pub on the Friday night and got them as drunk as we could do. Then, one of the bartenders, who was in the Seattle Opera Chorus, gave a fine version of “Danny Boy” and there was not a dry eye in the house. Then more drinks! Anything to give us an edge! It didn’t do any good. We were well and truly beaten. We did take them on a tour of the University of Washington football practice where they were all in shock at the size of American college football players. Of course, they had on their pads, their cleats and their helmets! It was a wonderful weekend. Kind Rgds, ‘ Robert Simpson ex-Seattle RFC
A long shot but I'm looking for footage of the 1963 Munster V All Blacks Game. There are a couple of clips in here. My Dad, Mick Carey, loose head for Munster then, turns 80 in September and it would be a wonderful surprise for him if there was anyway we could get it. Thank you.
During the 2011 RWC the Irish would have felt like they were playing in front of a home crowd because of all the support from the local NZers. Many NZers are of Irish decent.
@@Spamcan81 Wow, replying to a seven year old comment, do you think that I still care what I said? I don't care anymore, thanks for taking your time to reply to me anyways, take care. Also, I'm fairly certain the uploader changed the title to "Documentary" after he saw my message.
Great day for Munster and Irish rugby. Munster seemed to always give the touring All Blacks sides a torrid time over the years. 3-3 draw in 1973 and I think the 1953 and 63 teams won only by margins of 6-3 and 6-0.
I can't wait for the sequel. Irish women and Kiwi Sheilas. The entire NZL team will be rescued from purgatory and after long deliberation allowed to continue to live in the land of milk and honey. (aka Godzone).
yea 38 years later and Ireland still haven't beaten the all blacks honestly I never think they will I mean when Brian O'Driscoll and Paul O'Connell were playing for Ireland they couldn't beat the all blacks true legends of the game and they still never beat them its like Mayo in the all Ireland football final no matter how close they get they will never win it
@@internationalmanofmystery6798 ,that saying was coined by the English but it only really referred to the countries where Elitism was prevalent not the countries where it was a common mans game like NZ

As a Kiwi,
if anyone has to beat the All Blacks,
I'm glad it's an Irish team.
Ireland is our default "Second Team"
Damn, you much be jumping for joy now...
What about llanelli
That’s because we don’t do it that often. And certainly not when it bloody counts!
As an Irish man NZ us my 2nd team

Yeah but for a club to beat new Zealand it's a huge feat. I mean new Zealand is historically the best team. For munster to beat them it's incredible.
Do those grapes taste sour to you....!?!?...Just curious. !!!
Munster 12 - New Zealand 0.
And more importantly Doc, Ireland 40- 29 New Zealand.
and today New Zealand 92 - Tonga 7
lol

"You're looking at black jerseys that you want to knock down, you know"... - LOVE IT!!! :)
Brilliant Doco on a piece of sporting magic. What I would give to be in Dublin the night Ireland beat the All Blacks.

All good teams lose at some point, it's part of life and should be accepted as such. 👍
But the all blacks aren't just a good team their different.... we don't accept defeat as a part of life you die for the game
@@davidbolton4930 acceptance in life or death, either is gonna come 👍
Yes even the best lose occasionally
Great video, but i find that the title of the video to be a bit misleading, i thought i was going to watch the full game, not a documentary.

That Duffle Coat at 40:10...
Was that game shown live on RTE?
No. Our TV bigwigs decided it wasn´t important enough. They sent the cameras to a horse race meeting instead!!

And again tonight 😉
Lol haka is somewhat more intimidating now than it used to be
It looked funny back in the days almost like a tired team going through the motions hahaha
😂😂😂😂 the ambush
and most of the munster team came from limerick,, stab city,,lol
Your 'joke' about Limerick city is not that funny. BTW Rugby is a hooligans game played by Gentlemen, While Soccer is the the other way round.
