    LIVE LOCAL ACTION BREAKDOWN: bit.ly/43ZJHrb
    PRESENTATION PDF: bit.ly/3Kh5nIi
Professional planners will learn the specifics of the newly enacted Live Local Act in Florida. This act drastically expands where affordable housing can be located in local jurisdictions and eliminates some oversights by the local jurisdiction based on the percentage of affordable housing in the development. Planners who work in local governments will need to know the specifics of this legislation, which went into effect July 1, 2023. A local land use law attorney will bring the legal perspective, a staff member with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council will bring an overview of the legislation from a regional planning perspective and a former local government planning director will bring the local government and developer’s perspective.
Core Competencies that will be addressed in this webinar include human settlements (how this new legislation will affect where residential uses will be located in jurisdictions), planning law (how local governments can correctly interpret the many legal facets of this new law), land use planning and building form (how this new law affects land use planning and building), accuracy and quality (providing information on this new law to local planners), political savvy (managing the new legislation in the local community with elected officials and citizens), public participation and relations (managing the new legislation in public hearings), current planning (how the new law will affect development and current planning work), and relations with elected and appointed officials (how planners will inform elected and appointed officials about the new law).
