    I had a proper giggle when you realised you got it wrong. Love the fact you kept it in the video.

    Found your help and learning moments really helpful. On the ring you staple to has a couple of recesses where they line up to the top and bottom also found putting the ring that holds the gaiter top on easily pushed on with the tip of long nose pliers. Thanks for the help

    Thanks for documenting. Made it a lot simpler to fit my gaiter this evening. That last clip sliding over the collar was a proper pain in the ar$e!

    Great video,
    Bought one of these, didn’t realise at the time that it didn’t come with the plastic bits, took the old one off easily as I had changed the it before for an official one that came with the bits, could see it was a total faff and needs patience so it’s still in a draw as a wonder if I’ll actually bother job.

    Did mine in full leather, couldn’t even get the ring on over the plastic wedge bit so glued instead, total ball ache getting the bottom ring in the hole as leather so thick .
    Looks mint now though and took about an hour .

    I have a full Tartan ready to go but now I've seen this... Today I did the seat covers in GTD Tartan and the gear gaiter is matching. All from HQ. They make it look like a walk in the park which it wasn't. My face got this sweaty from jerking the covers that my glasses just slided from my face. Keep you informed how it goes. Probably ten times better than without your helpful video.

    Great honest and detailed video. Thinking of doing this to my gear stick, have already got the leather gator with red stitching to match steering wheel cover, but have been put off by the struggle you went through, may just have a spare already fitted one on standby.

    Hi mate. I did my gater yesterday and it was super easy and just took only 5 minutes.........hang on. That's not true. It was a total nightmare. I even ended up snapping the plastic ring that secures it to the dash. At that point I broke down and sobbed.
    In the end I used some hardcore tape and fixed it. It looks ace. So big thanks for your video, it was a lot of help!!!

    Hey, thanks for the video. Great job! I'm curious about the seats - are those fixed seat covers you have on them? Did you fit them yourself, or were they professionally done?

    • @JesterBushcraft
      @JesterBushcraft 6 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your comment, the seat covers were fitted by the people who converted the van to a camper (they didn’t do a brilliant job, but I’ve sorted that now). They are fixed yes…

    UPDATE; disassembly and assembly went very easy after your video. Only downside is that it got very squeaky after mounting in the car and this wasn't before. Guess I have to use the silicone spray to.

    • @mstaines
      @mstaines 8 месяцев назад

      Do you know what, it’s that long ago I can’t remember, but yes I think I did as the plastic was so thin a normal office stapler did the trick 👍

  • @nintenjo64
    @nintenjo64 Год назад +1

    Hmm, so went to follow this and you completely skipped the most complex bit of getting the leather gaitor over the plastic ring and securing it with the staples / glue .. nice effort but a bit annoying as that stage would have been useful to actually see step by step. 😢
