Can I thank you for sharing your skills and awesome mtal forming repoirte, sense of humour, to which I have become addicted. You sir are an Artisan that produces perfect work!!!
Back in the 60s the chain fall was all that was available to a mechanic. I put my first engine in a 57 Chevy with one at 15 yrs old. It was anchored at the top with a horizontal elm tree limb. Advanced technology at its best in 1965. Your work on the chop top is amazing. 😮
*Thanks for the effort you put into these vids. You think sh*t out so well it's pleasure to watch you work. The body was already done on my Merc. The guy did a nice job. He separated the rocker section from the doors and made up stand alone rockers. He rounded the doors ! Big job itself. A little old guy made the front fascia over a wood buck. Another piece of work and makes the car different. I've owned the car 22yrs and only have 2 minor shifts in the weld hiding leadwork. Even though I do linelock burnouts and dry pavement donuts. 👊😎👍
Yes, I think it wasn't until the forties that car bodies were all metal. An interesting video is the factory assembling a late thirties Chevrolet on Periscope films. It shows the immense number of materials, machinery, and workers to make all of the parts to the vehicle before it goes down the assembly line. There is also one on Ford vehicles as well. Amazing that the cars were so affordable when you look into just what goes into the manufacturing process.
Great work Love all the builds I'm leaving up in Saskatchewan Canada I've noticed the Dead South playing in the background lots Great tast in music. Cheers
Leaf blower so much faster than a broom. Just have to do it when the better half’s car is away. Car is looking great. Fun seeing your previous projects, so many great models from the 1936 Ford lineup.
Yes, sir and it is best to use an electric or battery powered one. I used to use a gas blower but every time I used it I had to work on it to get it started and also gas it up. I use a battery powered one and with an extra battery I can switch out when the battery gets too low.
Your comment in the previous video is spot on. It is best to work alone, and work at your pace and figure out things for yourself. You want to get an education then watch the other people who do this work rather than some armchair helper who has it all figured out to save you time because they are in a hurry to help out and don't have the patience to figure this out and not make any mistakes. Nothing irritates me more than to have to ask someone for help and then receive a tutorial on how to do something that I have already figured out for myself.
You did a good job on the other '36's ------- I liked the Flat Black with the black convertible ------- For me ----- it lost its character --- when the new owner painted it silver ------- Looks like you may not have to do any planishing ------ maybe on the roof ------ Looks real nice ------- Will be watching for the third video on this chop ------ Thank You and Hope you have a Good Week ----- Rodney
I agree with you about TIG vs MIG welding . I am using MIG on my 31 Ford street rod buiid and spend a lot of time cutting down welds. I like your work! Carry on brotha!
I really do enjoy your videos. Nothing seems to keep you from going out and doing a chop or lowering a vehicle you just go out and get er done. Thanks for the video LL
"sell off some of the wife's junk to pay for it..." OOOOF. Somehow I knew the divorce attorney reference was coming after that... Great explanation on benefits of TIG over MIG for sheet metal!
100% quality job as always ❤ I have always wondered why none of the guy's I have watched in usa 🇺🇸 don't make a spigot ti bridge the joint when doing a chop . Foe me it's easier for alignment and also structuraly a great advantage
Love your videos - how did you learn to be able just to look at things and see the answer you need What does your neighbors think of all the music & grinding noises
My neighbor is a police officer. I’ve never met him. Been there a year. So I guess he’s ok. I don’t know it’s like I look at something and only see the end result. It’s the journey I love.
I love the channel, I'm uk based. I was hooked since I watched you chop a Merc. A question, I once saw someone chop a car and the did all the welding to chop from the inside, they just left the welds and the upholstery hid everything. Would this save you a load of time, or is it a bad idea. Richie
@@Theoldironworkshop It's because beer is actually just flavoured water mixed with ethanol sugar and chemicals to stop it fermenting. . If it were real beer there would be hundreds of thousands of acres planted with hops.
Really enjoy your videos. You have a great dry sense of humour. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much!
Measure 14 times and cut once. Great work

Ha. Tree. The engine hoist is cheating. I use chain falls at work to pick up 1000s of pounds. Extremely useful
Great job so far. Thanks for sharing

Yep. Thinking this out is really important. Amazing work. Thanks
I think most of us learned from our mistakes.

You're very welcome!
Meant to comment in the previous video, Thanks for the hacksaw blade tip, much cheaper that the specialty blades for the pneumatic body saw.
Yeah. That was totally Mike Bellos idea. Super good idea.
I love your work and sarcastic humor
I don’t actually try to be funny, it’s just what happens.

Yes. It’s definitely use what you have. However once you can upgrade, definitely do it.
Sounds like a plan. Thanks!@@Theoldironworkshop
The cars in your resume are very impressive. Now I know how you developed your expertise. Thanks for sharing. 😮
Actually I’m just a good guesser. It’s all about learning technique. If you understand what looks good the rest falls into place
Top work, great videos mate they inspire me to get out and get on with ours so cheers for that. Keep smiling ffs 😂👍🍻

Yeah I wish I would’ve kept it. I was trying to buy it back but missed out. Time to build another
nice work..how many hours (real time) are you in so far and how many do you think it takes to complete?
30 to this point About 30 to go on metal.

From the school of textured welding, where the bigger the glob, the better the job. But, everyone was a beginner once.
We all start somewhere
A lot of people do it that way they tack it all the way around with the mig welder and then come back and TIG weld it
Yes. I prefer that to clecos
I love the channel, I'm uk based. I was hooked since I watched you chop a Merc. A question, I once saw someone chop a car and the did all the welding to chop from the inside, they just left the welds and the upholstery hid everything. Would this save you a load of time, or is it a bad idea. Richie
Hmm that is an interesting idea. Technically it would work.
Only time you want a small rod.
He He
Is this a 3 inch chop.
Yes
Regardless of what is said, if you take your time to fit everything, as I have done, MIG is fine.
I’ve done plenty of it. Tig is a zillion times better
