Having grown up in that era and being a Dylan fan for over 50 years I have to commend you for doing a great job with this video. Even though the movie combined some personalities and events to capture the essence of Dylan and the times I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for your research and hard work in producing this video.
This was a great overview and very enjoyable. There are many outstanding books that chronicle Dylan's early years and transformations. My favorite is Elijah Walds "Dylan Goes Electric!: Newport, Seeger, Dylan, and the Night That Split the Sixties" This was the basis for the bio-pic. At 72yo, these albums especially those from 64-66, are the fabric of my youth and it is unlikely that his creative poetry and verse will ever be equaled. Happy to have been there.
Great biography of that era. I was 15 years old and a huge Beatles fan (being English) when I first heard Bob Dylan in 1963 and for the rest of my life those two performers have been my favourites. There’s no doubt in my mind that Bob’s writing had genius status.
Thank you for this interesting condensed retrospective on Bob Dylan. I grew up listening to him and highly value his songwriting. I love the earlier Dylan albums, but a few years ago I listened and downloaded his album Time Out of Mind, released in 1997, which just blew me away! I just saw the biopic A Complete Unknown last night. Timothy Chalamet was very convincing as Dylan and I was impressed with his performance. He insisted on singing live as he was being filmed which gave it a quality of authenticity. I highly recommend it.
Congrats! You nailed it, very well processed ! I’m feel so happy some people gets him in a way I also see him :) I wish more people can have this reading of his trajectory. I feel like he change topics as he perceived though people expected him to make protest songs, he needed to protest in another form
Great video! I'm in my mid twenties smack dab in my Beatles discovery moment. Hoping to learn some Dylan knowledge before the biopic comes out. Thank u!
Thank you for watching! Genuinely, please enjoy the musical journey, I’m always excited for people to discover this stuff! It was a very sincere time for art in culture.
This was great! Following watching your video RUclips took me to a talk at the Library of Congress, by the musician and author Elijah Ward, Dylan Goes Electric! Music, Myth & History . I enjoy your work very much. I lived through this era so your take on it is very interesting to me. Keep up the Good Work. Peace
I would pay to sit on that bed and just enjoy all this information love I love it thank you for all your hard work on these I just got done with the velvet underground so good keep up the great work
Wow, you did a great job with this. I grew up listening to Dylan and I thought I knew a lot about him, but I learned much more from your video. Love your insightful commentary.❤
The Beatles were inspired by Dylan's earliest work much like I was inspired by the film that came out Christmas day. If you've got a soul,it's impossible not to be inspired.
I enjoyed the movie, mostly because I enjoyed his music back then, and the Greenwich Village scene. But I thought the theme of the movie and the book was that Dylan is unknowable.
Fascinating and insightful. Thank you. For those who want to know more about Dylan's entire career, check out the new book "You Don't Need a Weatherman: Bob Dylan for Beginners"
I saw 1 video on Bob and asked people is the new movie worth it? I have gotten back 3 responses all saying yes go and see this movie. The last time I saw a bio pic of a rock star was about Jim Morrison and the Doors with Val Kilmer I took my wife who walked out and waited in the lobby I saw parents bring their 6 year old Johnny to see this movie and he wanted to see Home Alone and cried through the Morrison movie

There was also a great jazz scene in the village at the time. The village was also the birthplace of American punk at CBGBs.
@@jdtb2520 Brilliant jazz scene for sure, that came along with the beatniks! CBGBs was around the corner in the Bowery 🤘

The movie is based on that book, which goes into more detail than a two hour movie can.

And Bob Dylan still is amazing, a phenomenon to be reckoned with.

Dylan read a lot, he schooled himself as much a Suze and Joan did.
How brilliant was a young Bob Dylan at the Newport Rock Festival

That’s definitely how Dylan wants it, haha

Now Bob is an old rich guy......Bob was right about Lee Harvey Oswald, who, like Bob, was a patsy. Mr Tambourine Man is a wonder, isn't it?

Dylan has depth and complexity. Chalamet doesn’t. Whoops!
(Most will never see the problem, so get those Oscar nominations rolling!)
Excellent piece (poet's name is pronounced Ram-BO)
