I make Embroidered jewelry. I would love to learn about selling in different places and how to manage that.

Thanks so much for this video it is very informative and I make wickless candles and skin products. Your videos have been so helpful to me to and I am going to start doing vlogs. Thanks again
Hi!! Oh thank you so much and I'm so happy you're finding them helpful. YES do the vlogs girl, there aren't a lot of soap vloggers so it's kinda of an open space right now! 💕
Thanks for explaining, great video Caitlin!! I am also planning to launch my shop on Faire and trying to understand how it functions. Would appreciate if you help with my few questions: 1. Is shipping fully covered by the retailers? Does Faire help with a discount code or anything on shipping orders or are they fully out of it? 2. How do the vendors handle outside US orders? What are the shipping, payment terms and returns like if a retailer orders your products from UK or Canada? 3. How does Faire block retailers to reach out to vendors outside the platform or vice versa as both sides would probably prefer to cut the commission fees esp on repeat orders? Many thanks in advance!
Hi! I'll try to answer best I can 1. Faire covers the shipping if you ship through their platform or if you prefer to ship yourself they will reimburse you. You can offer "insider shipping" which is discounted and they have that all set up but it basically means you cover some of the shipping costs so I haven't done that yet. 2. The international orders come through the same way and then when you go to fulfill it the customs forms come up and you print those with the shipping label. It was scary at first but it's actually very simple. Faire handles all returns, you actually don't get any product returned to you it goes into a marketplace where other retailers can buy it. I've only had 3 out of 126 orders returned so I don't think many people do that. 3. There isn't a "block" as far as I know. You don't get the email or contact info for the businesses. I guess you could look it up. I think most retailers prefer to go through Faire because of the payment terms being net 30 so I don't have anyone reaching out to me to switch over. Hope that helps!
Thank you for sharing these insights! I’ve applied twice after an Etsy customer asked if I was on there. The first time they turned me down, and I applied again after being more established and haven’t heard back. Guess it’s time to apply again! That said, in on Tundra and have gotten quite a few orders there. Honestly, their platform sounds more generous than Faire! On Tundra, they don’t take commission and we get paid within a few days of shipping, even if they buyer has net-60 on their side. And goodness, yes, if three- months-ago-me saw where we were right now, she’d be shocked. Sometimes in the thick of it, I have to remind myself this level wasn’t even on my radar not that long ago and CELEBRATE! Btw, I sell stickers, so definitely not a related industry but found your info helpful.
I will have to look into Tundra more...I honestly couldn't keep up with Faire this past year so I'm re-evaluating the whole thing to see what makes the most sense for my business. So happy you found my channel and I really appreciate you following along!
Thank you for the advice! One question I have is what to send to your retailers after purchase. Is there an email template you prefer to use, send coupons, share catalogs? Thanks!
Thanks for a great video! I'm new to Faire...if vendors are already on Faire do they still get the $100 credit when they buy from you if it's their first time doing business with you on the platform?
Thanks so much for this video! Any tips for preparing to apply? Are there things that I should have in mind/prepare before applying for the first time?
Hi! I don’t think there are any tips for the actual application. I’d say if you have retailers you already sell to or work with have them submit a referral for you so faire can see that retailers want your products on the platform.
Hi Caitlin! I was wondering if you need UPC codes for your products in order to sell wholesale? I can see that Faire doesn't require me to enter the codes on my listings, but will retailers require them?
Was just told about this... I need to look into it! Is there a way to choose who orders? Like local shops only? Candles are heavy to ship! Not sure how that would work for me... Thanks for sharing this info!
There is an option to do brick and mortar stores only and not online. And you can cancel an order if you think it’s not the right fit. Also the retailer pays for shipping so you shouldn’t have to worry about that as an expense.
Thanks for your video, it was very informative. My question is do my products need to be priced at 50% off of my retail price for Faire? Then their commission comes off of that?
Hi! I believe so but I would double check. They have a tag on Faire that is “not sold on Amazon” so that leads me to believe many vendor sell on Amazon so you should be fine.
Thank you for sharing! We have been applying , but we’ve never done official wholesale before. We have an Etsy shop and have done them within our shop. Any suggestions for helping us get approved?
Can you please explain how Faire photos work? All the photos on the platform look amazing. Does Faire send out a professional photographer to you or are all these photos taken by entrepreneurs?
Just for understanding, the first time commission is 25% for each vendor? 😮. And you already cut your price in half to sell wholesale. Basically you need to make sure your are profitable at 1/4th of the price of your product.
They just changed it, it's 15% commission + $10 opening order. 15% commission for orders after that. It's not ideal, but it does bring me new accounts!
Can you explain what you meant by when you stated you rejected orders? Are you saying you rejected orders from retailers that were in the same state as you? Also can you sell on any other platforms while selling on Faire as well?
She rejected to sell in areas of the city where she already has a contract with a wholesaler so te shops don’t compete with each other. That was kind of nice
This was so helpful, thank you! I'm building up the nerve to apply now as I want to get into the wholesale market, but am skeptical of the commission and terms. Two critiques I've heard is that Faire favors vendors who offer discounts/promos to buyers - like at the upcoming virtual trade show - and this skews prices down further for vendors. And that the platform makes it difficult to develop a more personal connection with buyers. Any thoughts or advice around this would be wonderful! Thanks again. ✌🏾💕 P.s. My creative brand, Radical Hearts, offers wall art prints, greeting cards and other gift items.
Hi Loretta! So glad you found it helpful. I do agree that it's very hard to build a real relationship with the retailers using the Faire platform. They don't make it easy to do that. I personally don't take part in the virtual trade shows or offer discounts and I have still seen tremendous growth. I will say it's getting more saturated though so I can absolutely see how the discounts will start to drive down traffic which is why I still reach out to retailers outside the Faire platform. Thanks so much for watching!!💕
Hi, I started a faire shop. Got an order but never was notified. can't find any email.. seems archaic to online show an order through a single email.. Customer emailed and was like ugh where is my order?? How can I find the order?! Thanks
Can't I just put in a big order to resell? Like purchase products for my own shop? I sell home decor and soaps at farmers markets, and so im not sure im understanding how this works?😅
Hey, working on my Faire shop. When you're adding products, and you get down to "shipping measurements", does it mean shipping for one unit or by the case?
My two questions are what are the benefits of bringing your existing wholesalers to faire and if a wholesaler on faire doesn’t pay after the 30 days, are you responsible for collecting that payment or does faire step in and assist with that? What is the recourse on that?
Hi! The only benefit to brining them onto Faire is for them but it also helps you get more visibility on Faire. They have this thing called Faire Direct and if you bring people to Faire they reward you with advertising your shop more. As for the payment there is never an issue because the retailer has their credit card information with Faire so they just get charged no matter what!
Hello there! Your store focuses one thing. I’m at Faire right now, I’m luck buying jewelry, baby clothes, womens clothes. Should I just focus on one theme like baby products? Or can I have a variety of things.
Thank you so much Caitlin for your video .. very clear. I am writing to you from Italy :-) .. we have an artisan workshop of works in wood and plaster. We already sell to about 30 stores in Italy and with Faire we want to try abroad. I wanted to ask you: 1- have you placed a minimum order in $ for those who order? 2- I can ask you how many orders you have received in a year 3- Some customers have reordered Thank you very much for your time
Hi and thank you so much!! Okay so here are my best answers: 1. you can place your own minimum order value and you can change it up or down whenever you want! 2. I've gotten over 100 orders in the 9 months I was on Faire last year. 3. Yes! I have about a 20% re order rate!
@@caitlinblue Thanks a lot for the answer. For the minimum order I wanted to ask you: have you decided to place a minimum order? We will probably put € 350
Caitlin. Thank you very much for your video. I'm on Etsy. Here is my question. Say I pay Faire 25%/15%. Then I pay the wholesale price which is usually 50% of the item. Seems like I will be paying out 65%. Is that correct? Help me out:) Say I retail an order for $59.99. The Wholesaler takes 50%. That leaves $29.99. Does Faire take 15% or 25% of $59.99? Please help me understand. Thank you. Karen
My question is Caitlin Where is the majority of your sales coming from - Shopify or Faire? Do you still do local markets? Thank you for great Vlogs. Sylvia
Thank you for watching!! I’d say the bulk of my business is direct/my own website to consumer but I think in order to really build my brand I need to wholesale so Faire is a great option!
Hi Caitlin my name is Katherine and I am hustling soap making and teaching workshops part time whilst juggling my 9-5 which I'm trying to get out of. I have registered with Faire but struggling with their fees. So expensive 😞
Hi!! I hear you, the fees are high. But it’s a great way to get your brand out there and if you were to do a trade show or something you’d be paying way more. Have you tried reaching out to retailers to get them as direct contacts, that’s a 0% commission!
What about shipping. I'm new to faire just went live a day ago. how do we receive the addresses and add shipping etc. Is there a walk through video on the different ways to do this based on where your inventory is?
Congrats on getting into Faire! Once you get an order it's very easy to fulfill. You will just put the box dimensions and weight into their system which generates the cost. You then select the carrier you want and the label gets generated for you.
I am a small business very small, but I'm ready to increase business. I am in the process of creating a website. I dont sell online at all. I sell to friends with small businesses. I don't have a wholesale price for my product b/c I don't sell wholesale. I can figure one out, no problem. All that said, my question is, is my side hustle enough to go bigger?
I can't really tell you yes or no, that's something you have to decide if you want to do. If you want to go bigger and you believe in yourself then do it!
Hello Caitlin! Thanks for the video! I wanted to ask how long does a seller have to produce the items they make to sell on Faire after receiving an order?
Hey there, does faire usually reach out to you first? They have been contacting me saying retailers have contacted them and requested my brand on their platform ? Is this the norm?
Hi Lynn, I don't actually know the answer to that but I don't see why you couldn't run a Faire site. It may not integrate as easily as a shopify but I don't think that would hold you back.
So when you say you have more orders from direct wholesale, does that mean you offer a lower price on your website for direct wholesale or is it the same wholesale price on faire? Do you offer more incentives for brands to order directly from you ?
Hi! Thanks so much for watching! Faire Direct is basically just their terminology for accounts that I manage outside of Faire but then bring onto the platform. In other words, my existing wholesale customers. You cannot offer different wholesale prices on Faire vs. direct through you, there is a contract that you sign to agree you will maintain your pricing on all platforms.
Great info!!! Thank you!! And thanx for the tip about the cases. Great point! I have been on the fence with the big commission, but I think it will increase exposure so may balance out!! I think I will start applying after this Thanksgiving weekend!! :D
I found items that I want to buy from a Faire retailer so I can sell them in my own small business on Etsy. However, I saw they have their own shop on that platform as well...so does that mean I can't purchase their items to sell in my shop? Since they sell their own products there as well?
I would just reach out to the retailer on Faire and ask them. There’s a message option when you go to their shop page and then at least you will k ow if you can/can’t buy from them without worrying!
Hi Caitlin I'm still confused on how it works. So you as a wholesaler just list your products like a storefront on Faire website and also do you have to handle the sipping as well when customer purchases or does faire handle that.
Hi! yes it's basically a store front for retailers to connect with vendors. Think of it as an online trade show. You are responsible for the actual shipping but the retailer pays for the shipping 100% so you don't lose money on that portion. Hope that answers your question, thanks for watching!!
Hi, I attempted to register as a vendor on Faire, and despite meeting all the platform's requirements, my application was declined. Could you assist me with onboarding onto Faire?
Hi! I’m sorry you were declined. Regrew could be a variety of reasons but because I don’t work for the company I really cannot help you. Did you ask them why you were declined? There requirements are constantly changing and this video was based off my experience 2 years ago. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Thank you so much for this! Who pays for shipping?
Hello! Thanks for you video, I just wanted to ask how does the delivery cost work, it’s confusing I don’t no how to set postage cost!? Xx
I've seen a ton of stores selling different items so I think you can totally upload all your categories!
Thanks for the video. I'm looking into applying to sell my mugs on Faire. How do you set your wholesale prices? Thanks
Congrats! Wholesale pricing is not so easy to explain but I do have a video on the topic if you search through my videos!
This is very helpful to me: THANK YOU!!! Do you have any experience with or feedback regarding Boutsy?
Amazing! So glad you found it helpful! I actually don’t have any experience with Boutsy so I can’t offer any info. Sorry!
Thank you so much Caitlin for your video .. very clear.
I am writing to you from Italy :-) .. we have an artisan workshop of works in wood and plaster. We already sell to about 30 stores in Italy and with Faire we want to try abroad.
I wanted to ask you:
1- have you placed a minimum order in $ for those who order?
2- I can ask you how many orders you have received in a year
3- Some customers have reordered
Thank you very much for your time
Hi and thank you so much!! Okay so here are my best answers:
1. you can place your own minimum order value and you can change it up or down whenever you want!
Sylvia
Hi! It’s Shopify for my main sales. I have stopped doing markets and will explain in another video soon! Thanks for watching! 🥰
This was a great video as always! Would you say that ´Faire’ is what has brought the most business up to now to your company?
We are in Pet Supplies , fashion acceosries, handmade or small lots
That sounds fun! Wishing you tons of success!
I’m in Massachusetts! Where can I find your products?
I have a list of retailers on my website www.fiorellasoapery.com !
Do you need to have a barcode on your products? Thanks so much!
I don't have barcodes so I would say no!
Thank you for your vedio. I would like to ask if this platform is open for international small businesses? I am from Sri Lanka.
Hi there! Thanks for watching! I don’t think it’s open beyond the US, Canada, and the UK but I’m sure they’ll be expanding to other countries.
Do you have a video about selling wholesale that’s not on Faire-I’m nervous about taxes and such
I just did a whole 6 part series on wholesale videos on my channel!
@@caitlinblue thank you for your reply! I’ll definitely check out the videos! ❤️ very helpful!! Thanks for taking the time to do this for us!
Hello Caitlin! Thanks for the video! I wanted to ask how long does a seller have to produce the items they make to sell on Faire after receiving an order?
Hi! As the seller you can set the delivery time. I've seen stores that have delivery in 30+ days.
@@caitlinblue Thanks!
Hey there, does faire usually reach out to you first? They have been contacting me saying retailers have contacted them and requested my brand on their platform ? Is this the norm?
If retailers are asking for you then YES! They definitely want you on the platform if enough retailers request you which is awesome. Congrats!!
Do I have to have a company or business to apply ? Can I apply as a sole trader?
Hi again Caitlin... My website is through big cartel? Will I be able to use it, or do I have to be on shopify?
Hi Lynn, I don't actually know the answer to that but I don't see why you couldn't run a Faire site. It may not integrate as easily as a shopify but I don't think that would hold you back.
@@caitlinblue Thanks!
Do they provide invoices with purchases?
So exciting! You definitely need to run your numbers to make sure it works but it’s been huge for my business this year!
Thank you!
Thank you for the suggestion!!!
how did you apply multiple times? you created a store from a beginning each time you applied?
I think the application process has changes since this video…I just submitted an email request through their site maybe 4 times total.
Never mind but another question I’m confused on why I don’t see my products on faire
