Shortcomings is right have you dealt with the little circle when a video is loading or the awful compression. I have on Paramount plus. Remastered Frasier it can't handle the film Grain with the compression it looks blurry and like noise. And worst of all Deep Space Nine looks worse than VHS. Season 1 is easily the worst looking of all the Star Trek shows on any media. Paramount won't do an HD scan of the original camera negatives for a remaster.
Physical media is not going to die in 2025. Bc in 2024 we have gotten some of the most wanted films on physical media. And some of these catalog titles that have gotten physical media bluray & 4k releases. Have sold more copies in there first 3 days then alot of new releases have sold in the first week of sales. And I think 2025 will have an up surge in sales & we will see the first up surge in physical media in sales when the keep 4k bluray gets a wide release this month. And plus I have seen more people going back to physical media from streaming just bc of the availability on physical media compared to steaming. And lastly we need more first time catalog titles to get released on physical media in 2025 on bluray & 4k so the market sales charts will continue to either go up or be staying strong through out the year of 2025

@megamikethemovieman I have an autobiography already written and would like to write my memoirs about what happened to me here in Rochester NY from 2012 to 2020 when the government mistook me for somebody with my same name. It's like a political thriller. But I was left traumatized by the whole ordeal and I don't feel mentally capable of writing such a complex book. We'll see.🤔
Physical Media is not going to die out but something has to change drastically, starting with the prices for physical media because the normal film collector doesn't pay 30-40 for a single film especially when the films that come out these days have no rewatch value anymore. The medium of film has become a mass product that only serves for consumption or, better said, as background noise. Everyone who is in their mid-20s and under today has completely different interests and a much shorter attention span than the generation before them who grew up with all this stuff.
I unsubscribed to 2 streaming services a year ago and keeping Netflix and Prime but that's mainly for the free shipping. If the prices go up on streaming services we will see more cancellations. Will physical media die? I doubt it, It will become a niche market like vinyl and CDs which collectors still buy today. There may even be a resurgence to DVDs / Blu-Rays just like vinyl in the coming years. The only thing to worry about how is Panasonic and Sony not making players anymore, but it won't last long eventually some new electronic company out there is going to make a disc player not counting the millions of players in warehouses around the world.
Retail stores selling physical media in-store will definitely die soon. Used market sellers will price gouge the rest of the basement dwellers first until they get all their money. And they’ll happily pay crazy prices for movies.
@Therazorschannel oh I know reselling is hard as not many people want to buy and you will probably loose money but I really don't see my self going back to not owning movies. I stopped collecting back like in 2006-9 had a ton dvds l, I actually never even heard of blurays till I got back into physical in 2023. 2020 -2023 I started buying digital movies and although I was ok with it I stopped after I lost a few movies. After buying my first bluray I was hooked and I have no intention of going back or selling. I probably spent over $5000 in 2024 lol I have to catch up lol

12:02 yep, Lots of normies out there who dont know difference of CD and Bluray, people who dont know what they are missing without physical media, or howcimportant those discs/tapes are. I made last summer a two page info leaf about streaming vs physical, example headlines about censorship, titles not in streaming, prices and other stuff like that. .. information you dont see in mainstream news and magazines. Printed dozen copies and took those to my workplace waiting room areas, copyroom, break room... 🤓👍
I don’t think physical media will ever die unless it’s forced upon us by those who don’t want us to own movies. Nevertheless, I think we will have a good year this year.
Of course talking as a superhero nerd not a streamer I’m actually looking forward to the Spider-Man 4 fan film by high mountain studios I sincerely hope those guys finish the job Sam raimi started, which I feel like it perfect for a friendly neighborhood spider thon in other words watching the raimi films on the 4k blu ray, then watching the Spider-Man 4 fan film then the 4ks of the mark Webb movies and then the mcu Spider-Man movies.

@ from my understanding there were things like Sam raimi being very upset with Spider-Man 3 mainly because of the inclusion of venom and which from an understandable point of view a lot of people didn’t like topher grace as venom because Sam raim really didn’t know the character too well as well as a result of that wanting to comeback a fourth film but he couldn’t get the script together on time. There is more detail than what I’m writing.
I hope not, i just bought another DVD. And a blu ray set both for cheap. Was going to get Wolverine and Deadpool and was like no 46-dollar steelbooks period. I even wouldn't spend 25 on Star Trek the motion picture i guess I'm becoming a cheapskate/ being choosy. After getting burned by Disney and Sony like touching a hot stove, I'm not in a rush to be overcharged again. I even had picked out a few laserdiscs, didn't get them because I can't spend a hundred dollars like that anymore so freely.

They all of all sudden charge 25%-30% more and think it will be accepted because Amazon or Walmart with offer a joke of a discount. Which is still in the mid 40 dollar range when they used to sell 35 dollar or no higher than 39.99. Gruv or Deep Discount sometimes will sell them for under 40 but not usually. The 60 dollar was for Boutiques like Criterion or Arrow. and even they sometimes have sales.

And went out pf print, I'd hate to think everything would be limited to what they allow to be on streaming or even having to have censored versions of things. I want Mark of Zorro on Blu-Ray with Tyrone Power but have to pay a lot for it is out of print, Kino Lorber.
I don't think so. I see it lasting quite awhile, even if it is boutique labels producing it. Prices might go up. You might only have 1 or 2 boutique options for players.
