Got to love how Rutger goes from melodic to rhythm in just a matter of seconds, he is an amazing bass player, If you accept requests it’ll be great to see a cover of Watch Out or So Long they’re some Deep Cuts but the bass on those songs it’s really great

Thank you steve_rios. Agree that the bass on Watch Out and So Long is great! I'd like to do it sometime in future.

"It's the end of a decade, in another ten years time, who can say what we'll find, what lies waiting down the line, at the end of '89"
Love, love, love this song. Well done 👍🏻
In this version, Agnetha sings the word champagne with a hard "ch" but in the Spanish version she sings the word champagne with a soft ch, sounding "sh." Someone must have told her by the time they re-recorded the lyrics in Spanish.

Thanks a lot lucpraslan! I checked the Spanish version and it is indeed pronounced as "sh". Interesting :-)

@@sonicbluebass Haha, yes, I love the music from this band. Out of all of them, Agnetha was probably the least proficient in English. There's another mispronunciation blip in When All Is Said And Done. Frida sings, "Clear-headed and open-eyed... " but she pronounces the worded headed as hedeed. It's completely understandable when English is not their first language.

Haven't heard this song in a while, it feels so good and nostalgic to listen to it again (especially the chorus) :D Very nice bass line, thank you!

Funny story: the most famous song for lunar new year in Vietnam is actually Happy New Year from ABBA. People, not understanding English, have always related this song with happiness of the spring time holidays. But when you look into the lyrics it's the absolute opposite:D Nevertheless, it will always be a classic in the new year time in Vietnam, and probably many other places in the world as well.

Thanks for sharing the story. As you mentioned, this song is not simply a celebration of a new year. The lyrics reflect the state of the late 1970s when it was written, and the protagonist is worried about the uncertainty of the current world but inspired to remain hopeful for the coming years. This still applies to today.
