The engine still does a respectable job, thanks in part to the ZF 8 speed gearbox. If you need something faster, the 530i is still the better bet without sacrificing much in terms of economy.

Can you even use the power in a 530 or 540 in the highways ?? This can do the same with a lot less fuel used and I guess its the best one to buy. People who buy 530-540 or M series are using it as a daily and a track car. So they need a car reliable and powerful. Btw in germany, many autobahns allows you to go at full speed. So having powerful engine is good

Now in the faceliftet C class the 200 engine actually is a 1.5litre mercedes hybrid engine, which is more powerful than that previous 2.0 litre engine, but can´t be tuned that well. However the c200 definitely had a 2.0 mercedes engine until a few months ago. I know that, because I owned the C180 with the renault engine which actually was nice, but wouldve rather had the c200 with the real engine (I couldn´t choose the car. Now I could and got a new e class with 2.0 litre mercedes engine.)

Aaron Randolph Chen 0,5l diffrence between 540i and 530i. Drove them both and the 530i is a dissapointment on the Autobahn
If you put around 700 in a stage one, 520i puts out 260 hp and 420nm so idk if its worth the difference, 520i and 530i got same engine
