How to Repair Stripped Damaged bicycle crank arm pedal threads with a thread insert.
This is my take on this repair to a Shimano 600 LEFT crank arm.
As this is the left arm, the thread is reversed.. you need LEFT hand threaded tools and inserts.
i already had the Tap and the drill bit but these can be bought from eBay.
all I purchased was the thread inset for around £7 at the time of filming.
The insert has an internal thread of 9]16"x20tpi with outer thread of 5]8"x24tpi
drill out the old thread with a 14.5mm the tap left handed, clean and screw in the insert with lots of thread lock and let dry as per the manufacturers instructions on the bottle.
file the insert flush with the arm. jobs a good en

Hey I was riding my 2000 specialized Vegas TRX and went to pump hard and my crank just like stripped. Basically it spins without turning the chain ring. What do you think happened to it? Is it something I can fix and keep the crank arms? Want to keep bike as original as possible

Hi thanks for watching.. I'm not entirely sure on mtb bikes. First thing would be to remove the arm and see if the chain ring has broken from the arm and go from there.
