@Ruus It's because It contains books such as "Book of Enoch". Enoch is a well known prophet in the bible both in the age of judaism and the new testament. But really sad such father isn't included in the widely known compilation of bible (maybe because the complete book wasn't available anywhere else other than Ethiopia, until the 20th century archaeological discovery of the deadsea scrolls which matched with the Ethiopian version of book of Enoch). But in Ethiopia, since the books have been there and since the country had been cutoff from the world for most of age of humanity It hasn't been affected by any changes made to the compilation of the bible.
Hence, the bible in Ethiopian Orthodox has the 66 books of the bible along with the 14 other books, making the bible in Ethiopia contain 80 books in total.

@@AButterflyinChrist I think It's because It hasn't been found in full form and only existed in the geez language in Ethiopia until the deadsea scroll fragments were discovered in late 20th century which is late after canonization is completed. But It has been in use with its full content in Ethiopia since the begining. Even the Jews don't but It's used, by Ethiopian Jews (bete israelites) and Ethiopian orthodox christianity.
Apart from that, It has been a central book with God's people from the begining of times and even in the new testament. Jude has mentioned the prophet enoch expressing his rightousness as an example, even mentioning quotes from the book that state he was taken to God without seeing death. The christians back then had the book and knew it well. I believe the only reason the book isn't canonized is because of lack of its content in full format. And there is no question he was amon the greatest prophets of God to ever live.

The apocrypha have not proven to be authentic and most have been proven to have been created way later than the people they claimed to be written by. Not to mention they usually contradict with the core message of the gospel. It’s also clear that they were written by the Gnostics since most of them have this theme of secret knowledge with a plot twist of the gospels (ex: Judas Iscariot was actually just following the secret plan of Jesus and he didn’t actually betray him) It is so clearly Gnostic but you’ve fallen into that same trap of desiring to want to know the secrets and hidden knowledge when The Bible (The Word of God) and The Holy Spirit gives us all we need.
Also, what’s with the profanity? Do you care more about hidden knowledge than applying the wisdom of The Bible? That’s the error my friend you have found yourself in.

As a Protestant, I don't think being a disciple of Christ is inherently "traditional" or "ancient." I love the old hymns and chants from the past, and as a fan of history they move me in a way contemporary Christian music doesn't. But I also recognize that faith and praising God isn't about confirming to tradition or reciting catechisms if they don't have real meaning to the churchgoer. Some people's Christian practices are deeply rooted in tradition that they connect with, and that is good. Others' style of worship is contemporary and not rooted in tradition, either because their church is young or they did not grow up in a Christian setting. Others adopt those traditions as their own. What really matters is following the Word of God and applying the Scripture to your own life. Remember Jesus said "Judge not, lest ye be judged."

    • @nuzzi6620
      @nuzzi6620 2 года назад +8

It’s more about receiving and practicing the same faith as our forefathers. Singing a new selection from the latest Hillsong album, performed by your local worship team, is not the same as singing prayers and hymns that your fathers and their fathers before them sang, going back to the earliest days of the church-and doing so because it’s what’s always been done, seeing as it is true _orthodoxía,_ proper/correct worship or glorification (of God). Whether it’s the 2nd century _O Gladsome Light_ sung during Vespers or the entire Liturgy of St John Chrysostom (4th cent.) served every Sunday, the reason and purpose of existence of these things and why we do them isn’t the same as contemporary Protestant concert-worship. It has nothing to do with the theological validity or spiritual benefit of said contemporary music, but more to do with its role within Christian tradition its very _raison d’être,_ if that makes sense. Orthodox are sometimes criticized for being stuck in the first millennium; to us, that’s exactly the whole point. We don’t fix tools and toys that ain’t broken; why would we mess around with the literal truth of existence, with the things of God, with the earthy manifestations of heavenly realities? That’s where you can start to see that the two are not the same and cannot be compared as if they were merely two sides of a coin.

Not every style can be used as part of worshipping. Out of the Church yes, sure, but not into the Divine Liturgy. Byzantine music sounds like that because it is a product of the question "what worshipping God can, can't and should sound?". Remember folks, we Orthodox do not follow our protocol because because it's tradition, we follow tradition because the protocol it protects consists of the already best established ways to do the various things.

Would you define what you mean by Protestantism?
I'm informed there are at least 50,000 denominations, which all have different beliefs, so I'm unsure which specific "Protestant religion" you're referring to?

@@VampireHub616 To be Christian in the truest sense one must be Catholic. The only other group with even an inkling of a claim to the name of Christian are the Orthodox. Protestants encompass all who claim to be Christian who broke off from the Catholic Church after the East West Schism. To be accurate protestants are not even Christians.
“He who hears you (Peter) hears me, and he who rejects you, rejects me, and he who rejects me, rejects him who sent me (Lk 10:16).” It could not be clearer: the Protestant who rejects the head, rejects Christ himself, and should not be granted the name Christian.
Christ establishes one Church with a single head: “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matt 16:19).
St. Paul is severe in his condemnation of false teachers, e.g. Protestants: “If any man preaches any other Gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Gal 1: 9).
In another passage he instructs Catholics to remove themselves from the bad society of non-Catholics: “And we charge you, brethren, in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ that you withdraw yourselves from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the Tradition which they have received of us” (2 Thess 3:6).
The Apostle St. John forbade any intercourse with heretics: “If any man come to you and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into the house or welcome him” (2 Jo 1:10)”

If two people insist on another way to reach salvation, they go by another gospel and only one of them - at most one of them - can be right. Secondly, the early Church teaches that she is the body of Christ and any separatist groups are not.
What you teach is called indifferentism and relativism. It does not matter what we make of Scripture: everybody is free to make of God's Word how he pleases, as long as he calls upon the name of Jesus. That is not the Gospel and that is more or less the opposite of the Gospel. Again, read Paul and John and Augustine on false gospels and separatists.
