    I liked the way you joined the mower engine to the boat drive mechanism. I understand about getting the 25 HP motor, especially for a pontoon boat, to get it moving a little faster :)

    I’d add a ladder for ease of boarding. See if you can find 3-4 fenders, they come in handy if you want to tie up to another vessel. You also need to add an all around (360) white light if you are going to mount NAV lights.

    • @chud327
      @chud327  4 года назад

      Good tip and I need to start looking for some. I think I had a white light for the rear, but didn't get it on before I sold it... @@chud327 I think you're going about as fast as you're gonna go regardless of horsepower. 'Toons are displacement hulls, therefore anything over the power it takes to reach the displacement speed plus overcome the current, is just going to waste fuel. Your homemade motor, with a prop that puts it in the torque peak (about 2500 rpm) at cruising speed is about the best you're gonna do.
      The good news is that the displacement speed rises with waterline length, so your planned longer boat should be faster.
