How To: Installing Classic Mini Rear Quarter Windows Into Frame

Nathan takes you through installing classic mini rear quarter windows into frames.
This process applies to Morris, Austin, Leyland and Rover classic minis.
As discussed in the video, there were two types of frames depending on your model, chromed steel and stainless steel. In this video we are using the stainless steel frames and 5mm thick glass. However 4mm thick glass is also very common on the later year models. Both work perfectly and one is not better than the other.

Is the glass for non vented quarter windows the same for the vented quarter windows? I.E. can I just use the sealed window glass and quarter frames? Thank you. Great tutorial!

Thanks for the question. At the moment I am not aware of anybody reproducing the frames for the rear quarter windows at all. They come up regularly second hand quite cheap on Facebook Marketplace etc. So you may need to keep an eye out online.

@@glass4classics427 appreciated. Do you know for a 79 with operable quarter windows is there different thicknesses for the black rubber that sits inside the chrome trim or just one type?

@@jeremyw2761 Depends on which glass it has, some of the mini's came with 4mm glass and others with 5mm glass from the factory. If I remember correctly the 5mm glass uses the 1.2mm setting tape. The 4mm glass uses the 1.6mm setting tape. We can post out samples for you if you would like.
