  • Instant karma; Ohio state trooper goes from stationary to chasing after a minivan going about 80mph in a 65, passing everyone else going just 5 over. The minivan brakes near the trooper at 0:42 but that's way past too late; radar/laser locks in your speed pretty far back. This area is one of OSP's favorite spots in all the land, speeding like that here is really asking for it. These Chargers can blend in just long enough and you could be seen before you see them 📡

80mph is the norm here in Georgia away from Atlanta. The cops usually don’t bother unless you’re doing over that. And they can’t legally give you a ticket unless you’re doing more that 10mph over the limit. (except for the state troopers…..they can nail you for going 1mph over)

For the trooper to take/wait that long before pulling out to pursuit the speeder, he would have never caught me over the fact I would have floored it and taken the first exit I was speeding on a two lane highway one time and met a cop going in the opposite direction.so he pulled over on the shoulder to make a U-turn, but had to wait for the traffic to clear and when he was finally able to do so, I was long @$$ gone.

I am a cop and I was on a 4 lane highway in the left lane, going about 7 miles over the speed limit. A woman in the far right lane passes me in a minivan, like I was standing still. Doing 80 in a 65 is no big deal in a fair number of locales but if you're going to do it, you better know the area and how it's patrolled (or NOT patrolled). Another big hint: traffic is typically 5-10 over the speed limit. If traffic is toeing the line on the speed limit, that's a big giant hint that you should be doing it, too. If you're blowing past everybody, you have no right to complain about getting busted.

How to escape a state trooper when you're deliberately speeding:
    1.) Notice the trooper.
2.) Once noticed, do not brake. Continue going the exact same speed.
3.) If there's any curves or downhills, you're at the advantage.
4.) Immediately speed up to at max 100, while also carefully switching into the far right lane.
5.) Take the next exit and make as many turns as possible.
6.) This is for educational purposes only, when playing video games. ;)
    You're welcome. c:

      Better strat is to
      1) use Waze and google traffic
      2) have a LiDAR/radar detector
      3) Drive 5-7 above the speed limit when you are within 800 yards of the cop
      4) Speed back to however fast you were going once you are 800 yards past the cop
      5) If the cop decides to get you despite following traffic laws, pull over unless you have a Dodge Charger. Otherwise, immediately accelerate to top speed and hide your license plate with a homemade device. Either take an exit or continue to the next county

I was going to take the next exit to sleep at the red roof just a half mile away. As I was going down hill I was engine braking to keep speed. Well at one point I accidently let it creep to 60MPH and the second it happened a trooper came out from behind the bridge and gave me a nice 250 dollar ticket for doing 5 over. He was trying to meet a quota guaranteed. He never requested my insurance or registration. He just said " you were doing 60 in a 55, license please.", so I gave him the card and he went and printed out a phat ticket and had it in my hands within 60 seconds. He followed with "follow the instructions on the back, call the number for help if needed. Have a good rest of your trip.". I replied with " Have a good trip my ass, Go F yourself pig." He turned an looked at me for a sec and walked away. I would have never spoke to anyone like that but i was sleep deprived and he ruined my clean record for 5 over on a long empty highway.

I lived in Ohio when I took my drivers license road test at 16. Back then many examiners were OHP troopers on light duty after an accident or injury. Add to the automatic stress, a fully uniformed state trooper who does not want to be there, holding your fate in his hands along with a clipboard. There was no small talk and I’m still not sure how I passed.

As someone in Ohio, you don't mess with the staties. One thing I noticed though, that disturbed me, was that you are supposed to pull into the next lane as not to hit the trooper as he exits his car or the other driver if he should, and several cars drove right past them. I don't like that, show some respect and decency for your fellow man people.

Speed limit is determined by traffic and how close exits are. If it’s within a certain distance of a city and it starts to get congested there, they start to lower the speed limits. That speed limit combined with the traffic gives you a more likely chance to survive an accident given the driver behind you isn’t tailgating and everyone is paying attention. Certain areas of the country goes up to 80mph because the exits are few and far between and the traffic is low. Also reducing the chance of highway hypnosis. Just because you can travel a certain speed in that area doesn’t mean it should be that speed, it just means you’re not giving a safe environment for you, the occupants in the car and the people driving around you. They really need to teach this in drivers education

    • @Just-Michael
      @Just-Michael 2 года назад +16

Hard to believe 65 isn't fast enough. As well as the things the previous person said in this thread, if it does get congested, a higher speed limit actually slows down traffic. The faster you're going, the more room you need between you and the car in front of you, which means you can fit less cars on the road. If you want to move a ton of traffic, then you actually need to lower the speed limit.

That's an illusion. As opposed to many other states, Ohio HP does not work enforcement in unmarked vehicles, and unlike some other state HP agencies, they don't hide. Their philosophy is to be visible, which for patrol and deterrence purposes is a double-edged sword. In Ohio, troopers are easily seen. In many other states, they're there, you just may not realize it until you get pulled over by a trooper in an unmarked Mustang, Camaro, or SUV. In reality, Ohio ranks 45th lowest out of all 50 states for the number of state troopers per capita. Florida is #1 by a mile.
