from what I've seen, the only change from summoning is that hornsent will invade you at the church of the bud before Rom if you summoned him at any point, kill or not, against mesmer. if you sided with hornsent and did not summon him, he "rejoins" Leda in the battle royal before radahn and can potentially make the encounter much harder. during the battle royal in my playthrough, he came in soon after Freya and would absolutely blender me if I tried to trade before anspach zones in. So I THINK there's no obligation to use quest summons during bosses, you will eventually get thier sweet loot
The Miquella' s broken rune secret is so funny and obscure. He did kill me with his grab once, but then I knew it was possible and avoided it as it is the boss most telegraphed and easy to avoid attack in my opinion. I would never have thought there was a way to counter this!
The winter lanterns is a direct reference from bloodborne, they are called the aged untouchables but i do think they drop an item called the winter lantern-fly
I don't think Torrent is necessarily scared of the winter lanterns per se, it's because the abyssal woods are frenzy flame central like nowhere else in the entire game and the frenzy flame can kill spirits. Torrent usually shrugs off any kind of death, but he'd die permanently over there.
@@EvilGeniusIIpi my B. The only bow I use 90% of the time is the serpent bow. I legit thought they were the same thing 😅 there's still a lot of new stuff I haven't tried out yet
Even though I’m still very disappointed with all the things that didn’t get rapped up in the dlc, realizing that Miquella’s curse of eternal youth extends to his mind does make what he does make more sense. He’s a child playing with toys, like that kid in the Twilight Zone that wants everyone to think happy thoughts.
#7 about Miquella's charm and rune, there's a 3rd place both will break. If you use the teleport directly behind Castle Enis that is protected by a Carian troll, it teleoports you to a piece of land in Rauh Ruins. My first playthough of the DLC is where they broke for me.
gotta admit i was a little bit confused about the "exceedingly rare to find" tag on the furnace-thingies when i got to those soldiers and realized they dropped them when killed. immediate reaction was "so that was a lie.."
15:58 A small correction, you can kill some NPCs before the final fight, Freyja can be permanently killed in the storeroom area in black keep, Moore can be killed by telling him to stay sad or by killing his brood friends then he invades you, the NPCs are just immune to death when you try to directly attack them at the sites of grace where you first meet them but you can kill some of them before you finish their quest lines and before the final NPC fight.
Knowing that Torrent is afraid of frenzy flame forest because frenzy flame can kill spirits, makes the frenzy flame ending that much sadder. RIP Torrent. Saved my maiden but killed my horse.
finaly someone who sais Visage correctly LOL. by the way, you can do all of the moor questline even after the great rune breaks, i used your video to do his questline and it still worked, i just waited with answering his question of being sad or not, got all the cookbooks, and healed the bugman and got his cookbook aswell, then told him to be sad, then kept talking to him and he gave me the last cookbook and the black tar for the sleep pot, exhausted his dialogue and headed over to pick up his armor and bell bearing right after :)
One thing about the rune breaking. On my first run, I went to st. Trina area first. And, like in the main game, before you can enter certain areas like leyndell, there will be a wall of light, with runes on it. At st. Trina area, there is a wall of light with runes on it, saying it's blocked by miquella. Imo, when the rune breaks, it's referring to that wall coming down, so you can now enter to see Trina, if you can beat the putrescense thing.
I kind of disagree about doing all of the NPC quests. Yes thiollier and ansbach can be summoned later but the Leda fight becomes so much more difficult when all of the NPCs are present. It feels like a punishment that they all fight you for finishing their quests
I honestly didn’t do any of the npc questlines, I only had to fight two people at the end, and I still got the hornsent and moores stuff, the hornsent attacked me randomly by invading me after I beat the final boss when I went back to the rauh ruins, so I’m guessing I should be able to get freyas stuff somewhere.
For the rune breaking - good call on the furnace golem area being a good idea for the trigger point; my rune broke either as I fell down from a nearby ledge, or right before I fell down. As for the one by Bonney Village, got a bunch of people who told me it broke as soon as they crossed that bridge into Eastern Altus from the Whipping Shack, like they weren't even able to hit the grace before it shattered. So maybe want to back that line up a bit.
I’ve heard from a few people that they didn’t like the Abyssal Woods bc it was underwhelming. Idk, I thought it was incredibly visceral and haunting. Favorite area.
I knew about the silver tender and furnace visage secrets. Also knew about the parry on the madness creepers in the forest. I’m just bad at parrying but it looks like I’ll be using them as practice since there is a talisman for a reward. I didn’t know about that. Great video. Good info. Keep up the great job.
I know you just explained, you can parry the untouchable, but at Midar manse there is a torn page, the torn page may sound weird at first, but you read it carefully, it tells you, you can parried the aging untouchable. - When he thrust his staff at my face, I brush it aside and touch him again - lol dude parried them and poke them in the eye lol
You can get Moore’s armor set and shield by killing the wounded enemy near the church in scadu altus first grace. He invades you immediately. Once you take him out, you get his armor which is slightly better than the bull goat set!
@@viktorhalaj3029I believe the auto target option is a really consistent way to determine if an NPC in the area is a regular enemy or potentially an ally that should not be attacked. It doesn’t seem to want to target allies even if you could just regular attack them anyway. It’s the sword of light and dark. Depending on which you use. That’s the dark spell in the video You can switch them at certain altars you find throughout the game
For killing NPC, it is not just Igon. Once can also kill Freya when she is on 7th floor of Specimen Storehouse. However, you will be locked out of her quest and will miss an item she rewards you with upon completion. This way (like Moore) she will not participate in "allies" fight and you still will get her armor and weapon.
Damn, if only you found out that first tip earlier, I wasted all my visages on regular enemies so when the armored wicker men appeared I had to defeat them by shooting magic into their faces, didn't know you can actually farm the visage item, very cool tip.
If you search around rhe world, there are TONS of Furnace Visages that I was able to get ahold of. You just need to look for them, especially in areas where there are dead fire golems. I have about 14 of them and I haven't even finished the game.
14 really isn’t many IMO especially considering how many seem to intended for use on the furnace golems themselves. God forbid you die after using them and not manage to take out the golem. Fortunately you can still use the regular hefty fire pots which are way weaker but still plenty strong enough to be viable. I’m just glad they turned out to be farmable, I hate the thought of super limited consumables just makes me very anxious about using them
you can also fight the NPC (Ansbach) on the ground floor of shadow keep. found this out by accident when i tried to jump on him to reach a higher area lol
You can pretty consistently get Nectarblood Burgeons from the sleeping animals right next to Fissure Depths SoG. With 308 discovery I was getting atleast one but most of the time two per farm.
Actually Moores quest is still doable if you trigger the shattering of the rune. Just don't give him an answer till you have all 6 books. Then give him an answer and after speak to him again and he will reward you the final page.

For npcs quests, breaking the rune actually makes you miss 1figth for hornsent (that doesn't affect the final stages) just DON'T BEAT MESSMER till you exhausted all npcs dialogues and quests
If you happen to be traveling at night, and are at a high ledge or peak preferably, look up to the sky and admire the moon. Interestingly, the tree has silver rays always pointing to the moon, maybe it's feeding from the moon's light??

“It would be mean of fromsoft to make the boss harder to complete a npc side quest to do so.” Unfortunately thats what they do with Thollier and Ansbach if you need to finish their quest line by bringing them in with you to fight the final boss. Tho correct me if im wrong that your stilll able to loot their dead corpses if you didn’t summon them after the fight.
I was kind of frustrated when i got locked out of the quests because i felt like i was just exploring, then suddenly there was a broken rune and i had few npcs to talk to.
13:35 I’m so mad about this. It locked me out of so many npc quests. I was just exploring and I hit it. Actually makes me extremely frustrated because then I have no choice but to fight the end boss. This I missed so much because I crossed the line. So I’ll definitely have to watch and see everything I missed.
I just recently noticed that the golden wave attack from the enemies with the candelars rip one boon from you per hit (or at least after u burned the tree in the city they do, dont know if they allways do but now that i realised that i really struggle with some enemies around there :D maybe because im thinking now damit my defence is gone now ;D;D;D
so i gave ansbach his scroll before I had the chance to talk to freya and since I didnt give him her letter, her quest ended. but I WAS able to attack her and get her armor set and weapon in the 7th floor store room so missing their quests is probably the answer to getting their armor sets and weapons. so attacking them after you fail their quests is viable to get their set pieces. she also said she was gonna snitch on me to lady leda lmao!
also i learned just now after killing freya, if you go talk to leda, she will tell you to dispatch of sir ansbach! idk if this happens otherwise but it happened on my specific route. before you kill freya i talked to her and she said the hornsent is no longer a threat tho, which I have encounted this part of the quest before. maybe she sends you on a quest to defeat all of her companions once miquellas rune breaks.
@@soulrebelstudios3185 The trigger for the hornsent no longer being a threat is you killing mesmer without summoning him, he reappears in mesmer boss room after the fact lamenting he couldn't get his revenge. She can suggest killing ansbach if you do that or you kill the hornsent.

@@Snegojuiwhat do you mean? Summoning them inside doesn't scale the boss any further.
from what I've seen, the only change from summoning is that hornsent will invade you at the church of the bud before Rom if you summoned him at any point, kill or not, against mesmer. if you sided with hornsent and did not summon him, he "rejoins" Leda in the battle royal before radahn and can potentially make the encounter much harder. during the battle royal in my playthrough, he came in soon after Freya and would absolutely blender me if I tried to trade before anspach zones in. So I THINK there's no obligation to use quest summons during bosses, you will eventually get thier sweet loot
@@Rap1dACE the summoning signs are outside the boss arena at the final boss
The Miquella' s broken rune secret is so funny and obscure. He did kill me with his grab once, but then I knew it was possible and avoided it as it is the boss most telegraphed and easy to avoid attack in my opinion. I would never have thought there was a way to counter this!
Secret 12, the main gauche can only be powerstanced with another main gauche… or any thrusting sword!!!! (But only when held in the off hand)
Fun fact, Main Gauche is actually French for Left Hand.
which is exactly how it was used irl... a parrying dagger to be paired with a rapier
For summoning NPCs inside of boss fights, correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you do this with Alexander for the Fire Giant in the base game?
Yeah, you do
And the Radahn festival
The winter lanterns is a direct reference from bloodborne, they are called the aged untouchables but i do think they drop an item called the winter lantern-fly
I don't think Torrent is necessarily scared of the winter lanterns per se, it's because the abyssal woods are frenzy flame central like nowhere else in the entire game and the frenzy flame can kill spirits. Torrent usually shrugs off any kind of death, but he'd die permanently over there.
You can buy dragon harpoons from the twin maidens after giving them Igon's bell-bearing
Those are just arrows for Igon’s greatbow, separate from the regular dragon harpoons
@@EvilGeniusIIpi my B. The only bow I use 90% of the time is the serpent bow. I legit thought they were the same thing 😅 there's still a lot of new stuff I haven't tried out yet
The harpoons are craftable.
Can we all agree that the furnace golems look sick
5:25 So you’re telling me after ONE parry I could’ve just attacked them normally? I parried every attack to get a critical hit until they died 😭
For the original Radahn fight, you could summon npcs inside the arena.
Alexander helped me out in that fight. Patches not so much.
Alexander is inside the Fire Giant arena too
gotta admit i was a little bit confused about the "exceedingly rare to find" tag on the furnace-thingies when i got to those soldiers and realized they dropped them when killed.
immediate reaction was "so that was a lie.."
You eatin good with this dlc bro, I hope this can keep you making content for a while. Love the things you missed and build series
5:05 they're actually called aging untouchables as confirmed in multiple items descriptions
In my books you’re just as important as vaati as far as increasing my enjoyment of this game goes. Much love man❤
One thing about the rune breaking.
I only did Ansbach's quest and had to fight literally everyone else (except Tholier). It was terrible
I keep reading SotE as Symphony of the Eight
About summoning inside boss arena: in the base game you can summon Alexander in the fight vs the fire giant. So, it was a feature already.
I'm not sure if I was seeing things but I think the sheeps and Rams give you madness if you look at them
That darkness weapon art specific to the weapon? It's neat
It’s the sword of light and dark
You can switch between the two spells at certain alters found throughout the game
@@Squishy_420 Good to know, Tah
You can get Moore’s armor set and shield by killing the wounded enemy near the church in scadu altus first grace. He invades you immediately. Once you take him out, you get his armor which is slightly better than the bull goat set!
Yep. Learned the hard way to look at the enemies before killing them. But the armor is great since it has a fuckton of poise.
@@viktorhalaj3029I believe the auto target option is a really consistent way to determine if an NPC in the area is a regular enemy or potentially an ally that should not be attacked. It doesn’t seem to want to target allies even if you could just regular attack them anyway. Fortunately all you missed out on was that set of cookbooks, I got all of them and the only one I cared about at all was the lulling branch that restores FP but no crazy recipes your handicapping yourself by missing. A lot of people practically ignore consumables
@monhi64 yeah regarding ignoring consumables I also do ignore them. I don't think I ever used any tonic or the livers and stuff like that. I usually just jump heavy my way through the game
What is happening at 1:09? Is that a spell? Weapon art?
It’s the sword of light and dark.
Depending on which you use. That’s the dark spell in the video
You can switch them at certain altars you find throughout the game
For killing NPC, it is not just Igon. Once can also kill Freya when she is on 7th floor of Specimen Storehouse. However, you will be locked out of her quest and will miss an item she rewards you with upon completion. This way (like Moore) she will not participate in "allies" fight and you still will get her armor and weapon.
BRO WHAT… YOU CAN FARM FURNACE VISAGES?????? LESHHGOOOOOO
18:25 that makes a lot of sense and good reasoning. But I don't care, its a pain in the ass to try to summon while being viscously assaulted.
Pop one of those perfume things that bubble u for a hit
Actually Moores quest is still doable if you trigger the shattering of the rune. Just don't give him an answer till you have all 6 books. Then give him an answer and after speak to him again and he will reward you the final page.
The moonlight is like Ranni guiding you from afar ❤
1- I went there once with them Mesmer soldiers and got a couple, didn’t have a clue they was farmable!? Holy shit! I’m currently running a high arcane bunk build so let’s go!! 2- lol watched Fighting cowboy make that mistake fighting a death bird and it disappeared mid battle 🤣🤣 3- Yet to hit that spot myself (was late to the dlc, started a ng+ and finished it before starting ng+ so I can go again lol) 4- Didn’t know this so thanks! 5- That’s hilarious btw! 6- have to make sure your NPC quest lines are upto date! Knew about the Avatar. 7- didn’t know you could farm the silver horns either!!! 8- yep. The last one I know why, but I forgot and just done messmer last night and done him first shot, didn’t even see the summon sign so guess I’ve effed up Ansbach’s quest 🙈 always dlc ng+ 🤣 I legit started an ng+ before the dlc was announced, bought the dlc but never touched it for weeks cus I wanted to do the base game first, so that when I finish the dlc I can wrap up and start my next ng+ and QuickTime that to jump back into the dlc and see what I want to power stance haha! This video was awesome thanks Dom!
your videos are always so fantastic, and your tone, your voice was made for this! keep up the good work!
8:50, it's as much or as less a challange as the gamer wants, neither is right nor wrong. If you can one shot things, you've done the work to earn it.
The furnace visage drops are a game changer
For npcs quests, breaking the rune actually makes you miss 1figth for hornsent (that doesn't affect the final stages) just DON'T BEAT MESSMER till you exhausted all npcs dialogues and quests
North of the Fissue Cross-there are blood Fiends that use sleep weapons. They drop Nectarblood Burgeon.
If you happen to be traveling at night, and are at a high ledge or peak preferably, look up to the sky and admire the moon. Interestingly, the tree has silver rays always pointing to the moon, maybe it's feeding from the moon's light??
Actually you can another NPC who has a questline. If you find one of those friendly kindred of rot laying down you can kill them and then Moore will invade you and you can get his armor and shield.
Glad i done as much as i could before i broke the rune, i thought "that's looks like progression so ill do as much as i can before I go that way". Honestly tho i think souls games expect/want you to mess up most questlines first time round cos there's no way you're doing them without a guide, then go into new game + thinking "right, let's get all those things i missed, messed up"
With igons bell bearing you can purchase the dragon harpoons at the round table hold
The only problem with this is you either need to k*ll him early and miss out on his amazing quest, or have already beaten most of the powerful dragon's in the game already 😂
@@DomsRoundtable lol true, idk why you can only have 2 at a time in your inventory too 😂 maybe they’re good for pvp if you vs a transformed dragon guy??
Dom you did it again!
2:08 i got two of them my first time stumbling across that spot lol
The Scadutree boss i took to the third phase a couple times before i figured out to critical it 😂 🤦♂️ im so oblivious to things sometimes. That was a fun fight though
I squirreled my way out of most of the side quests because of that whole "A great rune has been broken" deal.
I need help. I've got a weird bug where the 'May the Best Win' gesture won't work on Dryleaf Dane in my game. I've tried using it countless times but all I get is his "..." response every time. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do or am I gonna be locked out of getting his quest rewards once I go near the castle? I was really looking forward to trying a martial arts playthrough & I'd rather not have to wait to do it all over again in ng+ if possible. Thx
Torrent is not a coward, Torrent is aware that the Flame of Frenzy is able to permanently kill and destroy immortal spirits like himself.
In the Lord of Frenzy ending, you can even hear it scream in agony as your flames destroy the whistle, and thus Torrent, for good. He KNOWS what is good for him.
The new winter lantern guys also die from gravity and you get the items. I learned this by running away and falling off a cliff 😅
youll get the Exultation for Madness upon killing the First Madness watcher. Its not a specific one its jsut which ever one you kill first
“It would be mean of fromsoft to make the boss harder to complete a npc side quest to do so.” Unfortunately thats what they do with Thollier and Ansbach if you need to finish their quest line by bringing them in with you to fight the final boss. Tho correct me if im wrong that your stilll able to loot their dead corpses if you didn’t summon them after the fight.
Torrent is scared because the flame of frenzy is (probably?) the only thing that can kill spirits
There is another way to kill the aging untoucheable, it was once stolen from the Black Blade and used to fell the Golden.
Given that those soldiers are tasked with repairs, it makes more sense that they have excess items to make repairs with.
Torrent isnt scared of the winterlantern enemies he is scared of Midra
I accidentally broke the rune outside Bonny Village early in my first play-through and spoiled nearly every NPC's questline.
And there’s no way to restart just the dlc. You have to restart your entire character and I have no interest in that. I 100% finished the main game with your help. This I missed so much because I crossed the line. So I’ll definitely have to watch and see everything I missed.
I killed the guy in shadow keep, and got his stuff, that weird dude sitting on a ledge, scared the hell out of me.
The shadows in Midras Manse drop Winter Lanterns along with Silver Horn Charms
Thank you sir!!! Thank you for helping the old man out.. definitely a very difficult game....
I tried to fight dry leaf Dane for like an hour before I realized that he can only be fought after you use the gesture
18:30 also if the sign is in the arena you can spawn 2 players and still spawn the npc making it a 4 v 1
They are called - Aging Untouchable. You can finde not inside manor Torn Diary Page "A discarded page ripped from a diary, bearing a passage written in a tremulous hand. "I touched him, but only once. When he thrust his staff in my face, I brushed it aside. It was then that I touched him. The aging untouchable." The note implay that you may trie to parry them.
Thank you! That's really interesting to know!
Ohhhhh I never realised it was a clue to parrying
I love this series so much
First one makes sense. Glad to know though. Otherwise you could get locked out of that area if you couldn’t get more furnace visage. At least that is my understanding. Could be wrong.
Was already confused why nobody put rkr on the smithscript weapons. Now I understand
I beat radahn and the miquelester last night and I had no Idea that I could remedy his bad touch.
moore's questline can be broken, if u kill a kindred of rot npc, he will invade you, and if u kill him u got his gear, and his bell bearing would be on the area where you 1st meet him.
Ooooooh!!! Amazing video!!!!
