I don't think Torrent is necessarily scared of the winter lanterns per se, it's because the abyssal woods are frenzy flame central like nowhere else in the entire game and the frenzy flame can kill spirits. Torrent usually shrugs off any kind of death, but he'd die permanently over there.
For anyone else who wants to do the quests, but also likes fighting bosses 1 on 1, (at least for Thio and Ansbach) you only need to activate the summon one time, not necessarily on the winning attempt.
@@Stuphy1147it seems so. I’ve tried to kill the boss with both of them and it was incredibly hard for me (the scaling is significant). Eventually I gave up and soloed him. I found their bodies and all the loot in the arena after I reloaded as if they fought with me.
from what I've seen, the only change from summoning is that hornsent will invade you at the church of the bud before Rom if you summoned him at any point, kill or not, against mesmer. if you sided with hornsent and did not summon him, he "rejoins" Leda in the battle royal before radahn and can potentially make the encounter much harder. during the battle royal in my playthrough, he came in soon after Freya and would absolutely blender me if I tried to trade before anspach zones in. The Miquella' s broken rune secret is so funny and obscure. He did kill me with his grab once, but then I knew it was possible and avoided it as it is the boss most telegraphed and easy to avoid attack in my opinion. I would never have thought there was a way to counter this!
I kind of disagree about doing all of the NPC quests. Yes thiollier and ansbach can be summoned later but the Leda fight becomes so much more difficult when all of the NPCs are present. It feels like a punishment that they all fight you for finishing their quests
I honestly didn’t do any of the npc questlines, I only had to fight two people at the end, and I still got the hornsent and moores stuff, the hornsent attacked me randomly by invading me after I beat the final boss when I went back to the rauh ruins, so I’m guessing I should be able to get freyas stuff somewhere.
Knowing that Torrent is afraid of frenzy flame forest because frenzy flame can kill spirits, makes the frenzy flame ending that much sadder. RIP Torrent. Saved my maiden but killed my horse.
The summoning NPC thing is almost certainly not true? When you summon your Mimic, you do it inside the boss arena, and it still gets the buff to its health and resistances. Why would that be any different for summoning NPCs in the boss arena? I’d want to see some definitive testing on this because from my anecdotal experience, it 100000% still buffs the bosses. They are about 50% tankier per summon or friend or NPC.

finaly someone who sais Visage correctly LOL. by the way, you can do all of the moor questline even after the great rune breaks, i used your video to do his questline and it still worked, i just waited with answering his question of being sad or not, got all the cookbooks, and healed the bugman and got his cookbook aswell, then told him to be sad, then kept talking to him and he gave me the last cookbook and the black tar for the sleep pot, exhausted his dialogue and headed over to pick up his armor and bell bearing right after :)
For killing NPC, it is not just Igon. Once can also kill Freya when she is on 7th floor of Specimen Storehouse. However, you will be locked out of her quest and will miss an item she rewards you with upon completion. This way (like Moore) she will not participate in "allies" fight and you still will get her armor and weapon.
Fun secret for you. Did you know that there IS a reason as to WHY sometimes when u get invaded the invaders are bonkers overpowered ? Cheat engine allows you to level up to level 713 and max your stats and you can EDIT your levels manually back down to lets say level 150 (game things u have 150 level) in reality u are 713 you keep the same stats as 713 and get put in 150 matchmaking ._. thats just fking bonkers and idk how that is not patched i tested it once i learned it and i killed 3 people in like 2 hits .___. and they dealt so little dmg that my health depleted by 3% and my hits made their health deplete by half
#7 about Miquella's charm and rune, there's a 3rd place both will break. If you use the teleport directly behind Castle Enis that is protected by a Carian troll, it teleoports you to a piece of land in Rauh Ruins. My first playthough of the DLC is where they broke for me.
Torrent is not a coward, Torrent is aware that the Flame of Frenzy is able to permanently kill and destroy immortal spirits like himself. In the Lord of Frenzy ending, you can even hear it scream in agony as your flames destroy the whistle, and thus Torrent, for good. He KNOWS what is good for him.
I killed Freya in the Specimen Library after i helped Ansbach fight Leda off. I didn't do her quest because i hadn't found her there yet. I got her armor and her sword, and she didn't help Leda invade me at the end of the DLC
I knew about the silver tender and furnace visage secrets. Also knew about the parry on the madness creepers in the forest. I’m just bad at parrying but it looks like I’ll be using them as practice since there is a talisman for a reward. I didn’t know about that. Great video. Good info. Keep up the great job.
You can kill NPC, without ending their quest. I killed ansbach on the first floor in library, even before finding the scroll. Šo i ruined myself questline and missed his scythe😂
Ain't no fucking way you said RKR on Smithscript was wrong because it made the game too easy then used summons in the Radahn fight. Fromsoft fanboys are insufferable holy shit.
15:58 A small correction, you can kill some NPCs before the final fight, Freyja can be permanently killed in the storeroom area in black keep, Moore can be killed by telling him to stay sad or by killing his brood friends then he invades you, the NPCs are just immune to death when you try to directly attack them at the sites of grace where you first meet them but you can kill some of them before you finish their quest lines and before the final NPC fight.
You mean I could have had thiollier and ansbach as summons for Radhan? I'm so pissed, they're dead in my game... I also killed Igon because Vatiavidya said he did because he seemed to be in a lot of pain! I thought it was a mercy kill because he never stopped screaming in pain!
If you search around rhe world, there are TONS of Furnace Visages that I was able to get ahold of. You just need to look for them, especially in areas where there are dead fire golems. I have about 14 of them and I haven't even finished the game.
14 really isn’t many IMO especially considering how many seem to intended for use on the furnace golems themselves. God forbid you die after using them and not manage to take out the golem. Fortunately you can still use the regular hefty fire pots which are way weaker but still plenty strong enough to be viable. I’m just glad they turned out to be farmable, I hate the thought of super limited consumables just makes me very anxious about using them
Therer's a reason why you can't summon Torrent even after killing all winter lanterns, you see, the flame of chaos or the flame of frenzy can kill anything in both body and spirit, yes Torrent is a coward but understandably so, in a world where death isnt the end and you think your duty isnt done yet like a spirit like Torrent you'd probably wish to play it safe in such consequences. I mean even you have no need to go kill Midra, you are just going there bcs you are that much of a chad and hungry for power, Torrent is just playing it safer than you are.
I did actually killed NPC Freya in the 7th floor of Messmer tower :(, it was a mistake tho, she got caught while monologing as I was fighting this fire monk.
Damn, if only you found out that first tip earlier, I wasted all my visages on regular enemies so when the armored wicker men appeared I had to defeat them by shooting magic into their faces, didn't know you can actually farm the visage item, very cool tip.
What From Soft really need to do is fix those broken mechanics with magic and incantations. I mean whats the fun in screaming outside boss room for one minutr and then inside and boss fight is over in 11 seconds. There should be a limit over the offensive spell buffs stack. The defensive buffs can be the way they are.
I never knew about summoning pcs outside of the arena making the boss harder I was wondering why my second play through the divine beast was much easier😂😂😂
The madness enemies are also not immune to fall damage (not sure if someone mentioned this already). But I shot one with an arrow from a tall cliff and it teleported up to my location. I can't remember if it backstepped or I hit it? Either way it fell to it's death and I got a swollen grape out of it (didn't have to pick it up).
The sc hammer nerf is kinda pointless. The thing about this game is finding crazy builds like that to beat these bosses. Just watched some guy chug the metal skin physic but abuse the weight increase with the bearclaw/beast moveset. What you want a nerf on that too now?
I stopped summoning Ansbach for the final fight when I heard that the boss scales up just because he’s there. Pretty dumb mechanic. I was able to hear all his dialogue many times though 😂
“It would be mean of fromsoft to make the boss harder to complete a npc side quest to do so.” Unfortunately thats what they do with Thollier and Ansbach if you need to finish their quest line by bringing them in with you to fight the final boss. Tho correct me if im wrong that your stilll able to loot their dead corpses if you didn’t summon them after the fight.
Just a point of contention: some people play the game just for fun, not for a "sense of achievement". It sucks to have every fun, strong build patched out.
If Miquella broke their great rune then how can they still charm people? If they cast off everything that made them “them”, then how can he retain that power? It makes zero sense.
moore's questline can be broken, if u kill a kindred of rot npc, he will invade you, and if u kill him u got his gear, and his bell bearing would be on the area where you 1st meet him.
I pooped myself when torrent disappeared and i got a message that he was too scared. Although i do feel liek this area was meant to be bigger, or rather, have more content in it. But it seems oddly empty. Perhaps thats intentional. To add to the loneliness and anxiety feelings the zone induces.
I was kind of frustrated when i got locked out of the quests because i felt like i was just exploring, then suddenly there was a broken rune and i had few npcs to talk to.
9:12 I don't believe you are the person that gets to say what gives people a sense of achievement that's for them to decide may achieving ridiculously high numbers is some people's source of fun doesn't mean
Yeah those hecking lantern😂 my friend said you could actually kill them with destined death attack too. It just takes time. Never tried it so i don't know if its real or not.
You can get Moore’s armor set and shield by killing the wounded enemy near the church in scadu altus first grace. He invades you immediately. Once you take him out, you get his armor which is slightly better than the bull goat set!
@@viktorhalaj3029I believe the auto target option is a really consistent way to determine if an NPC in the area is a regular enemy or potentially an ally that should not be attacked. It doesn’t seem to want to target allies even if you could just regular attack them anyway. Fortunately all you missed out on was that set of cookbooks, I got all of them and the only one I cared about at all was the lulling branch that restores FP but no crazy recipes your handicapping yourself by missing. A lot of people practically ignore consumables
@monhi64 yeah regarding ignoring consumables I also do ignore them. I don't think I ever used any tonic or the livers and stuff like that. I usually just jump heavy my way through the game

Does anyone try to use that Mohg shackle on Radahn yet?
It's Mohg body after all.
0 of my enjoyment of these games from the challenge. The fun is being so strong it isn't a challenge.
Wish I had the hammer that does 12k damage consistently from range.
gotta admit i was a little bit confused about the "exceedingly rare to find" tag on the furnace-thingies when i got to those soldiers and realized they dropped them when killed.
immediate reaction was "so that was a lie.."
Is this actually true? Cuz if so that would be a life saver
@@Stuphy1147it seems so. I’ve tried to kill the boss with both of them and it was incredibly hard for me (the scaling is significant). Eventually I gave up and soloed him. I found their bodies and all the loot in the arena after I reloaded as if they fought with me.
@@Snegojuiwhat do you mean? Summoning them inside doesn't scale the boss any further.
from what I've seen, the only change from summoning is that hornsent will invade you at the church of the bud before Rom if you summoned him at any point, kill or not, against mesmer. if you sided with hornsent and did not summon him, he "rejoins" Leda in the battle royal before radahn and can potentially make the encounter much harder. during the battle royal in my playthrough, he came in soon after Freya and would absolutely blender me if I tried to trade before anspach zones in. So I THINK there's no obligation to use quest summons during bosses, you will eventually get thier sweet loot
@@Rap1dACE the summoning signs are outside the boss arena at the final boss
"most known secret" at 09:21 describes this entire video besides the furnace visage. Should be your last bait secret video cmon mate
I need help. I've got a weird bug where the 'May the Best Win' gesture won't work on Dryleaf Dane in my game. I've tried using it countless times but all I get is his "..." response every time. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do or am I gonna be locked out of getting his quest rewards once I go near the castle? I was really looking forward to trying a martial arts playthrough & I'd rather not have to wait to do it all over again in ng+ if possible. Thx
BRO WHAT… YOU CAN FARM FURNACE VISAGES?????? LESHHGOOOOOO
I only did Ansbach's quest and had to fight literally everyone else (except Tholier). It was terrible
I keep reading SotE as Symphony of the Eight
5:05 they're actually called aging untouchables as confirmed in multiple items descriptions
You eatin good with this dlc bro, I hope this can keep you making content for a while. Love the things you missed and build series
Torrent isnt scared of the winterlantern enemies he is scared of Midra
additional tip for the Abyssal woods if anyone’s struggling with parrying, there are flowers that are within the patches of grass that you can hide in that will attract the madness lanterns, you can use this to easily get around them they’ll be occupied with the flower being set off
Also, use the buckler as it has the most forgiving parry-window and parry just as the lantern raises his staff to hit you.
What is happening at 1:09? Is that a spell? Weapon art?
It’s the sword of light and dark.
Depending on which you use. That’s the dark spell in the video
You can switch them at certain altars you find throughout the game
"I don't like one shot builds" - People who don't know how to build characters basically saying "Yeah, I meant to do that. I like the game harder anyways. I intentionally distributed attribute points like an idiot"
1- I went there once with them Mesmer soldiers and got a couple, didn’t have a clue they was farmable!? Holy shit! I’m currently running a high arcane bunk build so let’s go!! 2- lol watched Fighting cowboy make that mistake fighting a death bird and it disappeared mid battle 🤣🤣 3- Yet to hit that spot myself (was late to the dlc, started a ng+ and finished it before starting ng+ so I can go again lol) 4- Didn’t know this so thanks! 5- That’s hilarious btw! 6- have to make sure your NPC quest lines are upto date! Knew about the Avatar. 7- didn’t know you could farm the silver horns either!!! 8- yep. The last one I know why, but I forgot and just done messmer last night and done him first shot, didn’t even see the summon sign so guess I’ve effed up Ansbach’s quest 🙈 always dlc ng+ 🤣 I legit started an ng+ before the dlc was announced, bought the dlc but never touched it for weeks cus I wanted to do the base game first, so that when I finish the dlc I can wrap up and start my next ng+ and QuickTime that to jump back into the dlc and see what I want to power stance haha! This video was awesome thanks Dom!
finaly someone who sais Visage correctly LOL. by the way, you can do all of the moor questline even after the great rune breaks, i used your video to do his questline and it still worked, i just waited with answering his question of being sad or not, got all the cookbooks, and healed the bugman and got his cookbook aswell, then told him to be sad, then kept talking to him and he gave me the last cookbook and the black tar for the sleep pot, exhausted his dialogue and headed over to pick up his armor and bell bearing right after :)
I could finish quests of all NPCs way after breaking the rune no problem. I don't know whether it's patched or just disinformation.
I somehow got NEITHER the hammer or shield from the Church of Consolation Knight, and now they don't respawn.
That darkness weapon art specific to the weapon? It's neat
It’s the sword of light and dark
You can switch between the two spells at certain alters found throughout the game
@@Squishy_420 Good to know, Tah
In my books you’re just as important as vaati as far as increasing my enjoyment of this game goes. Much love man❤
#7 about Miquella's charm and rune, there's a 3rd place both will break.
I accidentally broke the rune outside Bonny Village early in my first play-through and spoiled nearly every NPC's questline.
And of course the one bloody npc I kill is igon….CURSE YOU ME!!!
Yeah but what happens when the SUMMON SIGN IS COVERED IN PLAYER MESSAGES
It's asinine design
I never knew about summoning pcs outside of the arena making the boss harder
I was wondering why my second play through the divine beast was much easier😂😂😂
The madness enemies are also not immune to fall damage (not sure if someone mentioned this already). But I shot one with an arrow from a tall cliff and it teleported up to my location. I can't remember if it backstepped or I hit it? Either way it fell to it's death and I got a swollen grape out of it (didn't have to pick it up).
Here's one: Scadutree is pronounced the same as shadowtree, it's just an old spelling. The japanese is 影樹 which is just "shadowtree."
Lmao that's not how you pronounce visage. It's not like "massage". It's "vis-idge".
The sc hammer nerf is kinda pointless. The thing about this game is finding crazy builds like that to beat these bosses. Just watched some guy chug the metal skin physic but abuse the weight increase with the bearclaw/beast moveset. What you want a nerf on that too now?
I had the option to summon Jolan for Messmer. I picked Hornsent instead. What would that of changed in Jolan's questline?
Hahaha Imagine if for every NPC you would summon in Radahn's fight his health bar would double
I just know the so much not secret that the most difficult boss (last boss) gives you the worst weapon & magic) very disappointing
5:25 So you’re telling me after ONE parry I could’ve just attacked them normally? I parried every attack to get a critical hit until they died 😭
moore's questline can be broken, if u kill a kindred of rot npc, he will invade you, and if u kill him u got his gear, and his bell bearing would be on the area where you 1st meet him.
I pooped myself when torrent disappeared and i got a message that he was too scared. Although i do feel liek this area was meant to be bigger, or rather, have more content in it. But it seems oddly empty. Perhaps thats intentional. To add to the loneliness and anxiety feelings the zone induces.
In the base game you summon bunch of NPCs for the Radahn dude....
I killed Igon first time I saw him, thought he wanted to be out of his misery :( I need to do a 2nd playthrought for the epic voiceline :(
18:25 that makes a lot of sense and good reasoning. But I don't care, its a pain in the ass to try to summon while being viscously assaulted.
Pop one of those perfume things that bubble u for a hit
Yeah those hecking lantern😂 my friend said you could actually kill them with destined death attack too. It just takes time. Never tried it so i don't know if its real or not.
You can get Moore’s armor set and shield by killing the wounded enemy near the church in scadu altus first grace. He invades you immediately. Once you take him out, you get his armor which is slightly better than the bull goat set!
Yep. Learned the hard way to look at the enemies before killing them. But the armor is great since it has a fuckton of poise.
About summoning inside boss arena: in the base game you can summon Alexander in the fight vs the fire giant. So, it was a feature already.
I've got one for you. Scadutree is actually pronounced "shadow tree". Based on old spelling.
Torrent is scared because the flame of frenzy is (probably?) the only thing that can kill spirits
I killed igon within like 2 minutes of finding him on the road bc brother was in agony. Oh well, new playthrough tomorrow
I’m pretty sure you can buy the anti dragon arrows. I’ll come back with an edit but I’m quite certain you can.
Someone should make a mod for the final boss if you are on track for Rannis ending. She should hang on your sholders lobbing dark moons and give you a buff if you are using her darkmoon greatsword.
North of the Fissue Cross-there are blood Fiends that use sleep weapons. They drop Nectarblood Burgeon.
For the original Radahn fight, you could summon npcs inside the arena.
Alexander helped me out in that fight. Patches not so much.
Alexander is inside the Fire Giant arena too
The moonlight is like Ranni guiding you from afar ❤
