I stopped here on the return from the Hellfire Pass, and looking back, I didn't appreciate Mallika City enough. Nothing seemed worthy after the Hellfire Pass. I can even see how much the Hellfire Pass took out of me in this vlog. I was deflated. Mallika City is a awesome place to see the original ways of Siam (Thailand). In hindsight, I wish I done this vlog a few days after the Hellfire Pass.
Well presented old & original area - the Thais enjoy preserving their history - Thanks WW 😎👋🙏
Thanks Ant. Good place, felt like I was in a movie.
Wow thanks Wayne! That was very cool!! I am surprised there wasn't more tourist there.
Mate you say some wouldn’t be interested in this but actually this was up there
Loved it…. Keep em coming
Nice one mate, I had a good time at this place.
Wife and I enjoyed the educational departure from the average vlogs. These are the videos we have found most useful for our upcoming trip. Heading to Thailand in 2 days, if we bump into you around songkran the wife and I would like to buy you a drink.
Thank you! Yes, hope to see you around Chiang Mai. Have a good Songkran.
Thank you Wayne very interesting 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks Michael 👍
I really enjoyed it! It wa nice to walk around with you and not experience the heat. Good work!
Thanks Larry. Yes, it's super hot in Kanchanaburi.
another great vlog Wayne, good to see these places of interest
Thanks Peter 🙏
Brilliant Wayne, great to see the old traditions👍
Thanks mate. It was a really well done place. I thought I was in a movie .
Something different and really interesting. So much to see and do Wayne. I really enjoyed this one. Always love the interaction with the Thais. Cheers buddy. 🤩
Yes, it was cool mate. I didn't know much about it at first, but it was really well done. It felt like I was in a movie. Cheers mate
That was good, will definitely put it on my list for when I visit Kanchantaburi.
It's worth the visit Colin, really well done.
Nice walkabout Wayne . Good to see the old traditions. The massage shop seemed tame compared to present day.
Cheers mate! Yes, the massage was a little different back then 🤣
Refreshing video/chat from all resent serious topics. Thanks for showing.
Thank you 🙏
I visited those times from what I could only muster the first 4 chapters of FOUR REIGNS. 😁 After my upcoming Thai trip, headed to Egypt and snow surveying literature I'm delving 4500 BC old that makes some kind of sense.
Worth a visit to this place. 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne Just reading in Bangpost Post they discovered a tunnel last week built by POW's. It'll be another attraction.
18:42 - Fish Maw Soup. It's a Chinese dish made with fish swim bladders. Probably quite gooey. At the Chiang Mai Saturday Walking Street at Wualai there is a stall near the beginning that sells Fish Maw Soup. The first year I was there the sign said Fish Maw Soap.. someone must have told him about it because the next year there was a white square of paper covering over the letter "a" in "Soap". I guess he'd started repairing the sign but didn't get around to completing the repair. It was like that for a while after. I took pictures, of course...
I think I'll give that soup a miss mate 🤣.
Wonder how they got ice in the old days.. 😁 There's a museum kinda like this near Bangkok, except it's got replicas of famous temples and buildings from around Thailand. Quite large, and when I visited it was full of schoolkids and other visitors. They took us there after a conference. This was the first time I'd ever been in Thailand. There was a large bunch of schoolkids who walked by, some of them thought I was Chinese so they started saying "Ni Hao", and that eventually turned into "Meow". I laughed my head off.
Good question, how did they make ice in 1905? I'll have to look that one up. Yes, these places do normally have school kids in. This place was really like stepping back.
So beautiful place 😮😊🫰❤️
Yes, it's a very nice place. 🙏
i thought it was funny how you were just walking around not sure if you were interrupting or where you where going or what they hell was going on hahah good vlog!
🤣🤣 Yes, I didn't have a clue about this place. I stopped here without any plans or any info. It was weird but it makes the vlog better I think 🤣. Looking back, it's a great place.
I enjoyed the little walkabout....Wayne LOL. I like stuff like that too.
Cheers Paul, it was a really interesting place.
This spot looks really cool
It really is like stepping back in time.
@@WalkAboutWayne I love visiting historical areas of cities, to see a bit of what life was like.
Brilliant Wayne
Thanks John 👍
Beautiful place
It was great to see 👍
You can also visit the Jim Thompson house in Bangkok, there is a BTS stop right beside it, very easy to find. He was an American who had deep roots in Thailand and went missing in 1967. Critical of U.S. military involvement in S.E. Asia, he was most likely murdered by the C.I.A.
Nice, sounds interesting Dan.
Were you disappointed that she wasnt naked? 😂
Looks like the ancient Thai women were always eating just like the modern ones. What a cool place. I laughed when you said he's not pulling your 3rd leg 😂. For a moment i thought it was the buffalo making sheep noises. Don't let Luceal hear you saying you love that rental bike. Great vlog mate, i enjoyed that.
Yeah, I was a little disappointed 🤣. They looked really nice in the authentic outfits. It was a great place, everything was like stepping back in time. That sheep was a little bugger . Cheers mate.
The experience probably would've felt more realistic if the girls didn't have tattoos, unless they had tattoo shops in 1905 AD
Really enjoyed it 🔥🙏🏻
Thanks mate 👍
Howdy , New viewer from USA. So, how do you get Sir Patrick Stewart to narrate your videos?
Howdy! 🤣 Wow that's a strange one, never heard that one before 🤣. I think Patrick Stewart is a bit posher than me 😂. Thanks buddy
No coffee 😔☕
You know me Alan, never touch a drop.
@@WalkAboutWayne Coffee hadn't reached Siam yet... 😂
I would be more interested in going here than anywhere in Pattaya. “Authentic” not touristy.
Yes, agreed! This place was amazing! I had just came from the Hellfire Pass, so I didn't appreciate this Mallika City enough at the time. But it's a great place to see the history of life here.
Rickshaw!
Is he that chef guy? I forget haha
@@WalkAboutWayne, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That spot is cool. Thanks for showing it. Good walk about
Thank you 👍
No aircon, no tv, phone or Internet? I wouldn't mind... or Wayne?
Perfect 👍
Seems nice and all, but seems a bit confusing and not too interactive. Be tough for me with the language barrier.
I wish I knew more about this place before I went. It's a great place but a little confusing at first.
Pretty uninformative for the avarage Farang tourist. Not you, but the staff there and the signage. Great vlog again. Keeping it real mate.
I would agree mate, I arrived here unplanned and without any knowledge of the place. It wasn't until I got home and read up more about it that I learnt. It would have been nice if someone told me more while I was here, or more stuff to read as I walked around.
Uninteresting? Mate that was cracking. Museum in the uk... look at some shet in glass cases for ten minutes then wonder why you bothered. If you had that Timekettle translation dosh or a second phone with google translate that would be an absolute chicken dinner man
Yes, it was very interesting mate, I guess after coming from the Hellfire Pass on the same day, everything seemed less interesting. You'll never see me with a time kettle thingy buddy. Cheers
@@WalkAboutWayne you're like me man, you don't need fancy things, but you never know, that could get you a weekend in a fancy hotel on the river in bangkok when you're having a tough week lol
