Hey Noel, great review! Interesting board too. For me riding a single fin has really smoothed out my surfing. I reckon at your level it would not make a difference. But to every average surfer that probably wiggles too much I would recommend riding a single fin for a few weeks, perhaps a bit bigger than your normal shortboard.
Your reviews with the different formats are awesome. And just watching your surfing is instructive. Since you reviewed the Puddle Jumper HP as well, I'm wondering how you would compare the Evil Twin with the PJ/HP - besides the different fin options, of course. I'm riding a Lost Baby Buggy Round and would like to complement that with something with a bit more volume and for smaller waves. What are your thoughts?
Sandro Breu PJHP shreds small waves.. more performance in the pocket. The ET is a fun 1 board quiver. Twin fin fun... maybe not as performing as the PJHP. It’s really about what your looking for
I’m looking at a few used boards and am torn between an evil twin and an RNF ‘96. You’ve ridden them both. My quiver is a Too Fish and a Twinsman. I’m looking for a twin with a trailer to be more of a “1 board quiver” to fit in with what I have. I’m not cranking turns off the top but I’m a solid upper intermediate surfing in San Diego and northern Baja. I want ease of paddling into waves and the ability to try and whip it around. What do you think?
Hello Noel! Hope you are doing great!!!! I Know you did this review 3 years ago, as you did the gremlin too, but i was hoping you remember how does the nose of those surfboards compares to each other. Does the evil twin nose is as wide as the gremlin or narrower maybe as the astro pop? Thank you very much!!!
Hi Noel great review. any advice you can give on dimensions for this board. i usually ride thrusters around 27-28 litres, intermediate surfer , around 70 kg. not as quick to my feet as i used to be so looking for a board that perhaps i can ride with a little bit more volume,. any advice appreciated! cheers
Very nice review. you guys are ripping! I got that board 3 months ago, 6" 33L, I would not recommend the 1 + 2 bites fin Futures config, way too much drag for small/medium waves. I modified in thrusters and works better from my point of view.
Looks sick. I think your surfing has got even better.since you started these reviews, which is inspiring for a fellow mid forties guy. I’ve been riding the neckbeard 2 in spinetek and can’t believe how much it’s brought back the inner grom. I’ve been surfing for 30+ years and wish I had the choice of boards we have now as I grew up. So much easier to surf then what we were surfing in the nineties. Just wondering if you’ll be doing a review on the Happy’ anytime soon.
Richard Embery Thanks for the kind words. Yes I plan on doing the Happy review. I got two... one Squash Tail and one Swallow Tail. We’ve started shootings already but it’s going to be a little while before that review is done.
Board looks super fun. Just wondering when you leave that single fin box open and ride as a twin, did you have to cover it at all or put in a plug or is the drag really nothing to worry about and no big deal? Thanks!
Scott S Good question... I did NOT cover it. If there was drag it wasn’t super noticeable. This board is so fast in general.... but if your really concerned about it then go Twin Only with no center box or cover it up. Using something to fill it might offer less flex and add weight. I guess we cN go anywhere with this conversation.
Been really diggin Mayhems latest creations. Stoked on this review. Can’t wait to see the Rad Ripper if you make that video. Would love to get these boards under my arm and see how they feel.
Nice review! I just picked up the Evil Twin but the shop I got it from couldn't find the trailer fin. Any idea where I could get one without buying a whole set?
Hey Noel another quality review loving the new lost boards.my girlfriend is asking who is the track on the last segment by. Simon from Wales land of the dragon UK 🤙
nicholas tovar The Evil Twin offers so many options it’s hard to compare it to any other Twin fin at this time. The AkilaTwin Fin is all performance in the pocket.... for my style of surfing I prefer the Akila Aipa Twin. Both boards are epic but if you want cruising or fun performance then go Evil Twin. If you want Twin Fin performance in the Pocket then go Akila Aipa Winged Twin with the option of a small trailer.
Is that single-fin clip of Nate @ 4:30 really on a 6'5? Looks more like 5'5... I'm thinking of getting a 5'9 ET, do you think it's too small for riding as a single?
Hello. Is the center fin box a standard longboard fin box? If so, how would you run the T1 (2+1) futures fins? I’m having some trouble as the center trailer fin included in the T1 setup does not seem to fit in the center fin box of the board. I think FCS has a conversion system but I do not see one for futures fins
nicholas tovar Tough comparison... this Evil Twin has countless fin options. The Aipa Fish has less options but super fun too. I think the Aipa Fish has more flow between turns.
That is awesome to hear. Thank you! 🤙🏽 Have you tried out any of the sharp eye surfboards? If not I think those would be solid boards to review. Especially with the way Kanoa and filipe have been surfing with them! I think it’d be cool to hear you break down what is so great about them.
Ryan The Rock The MR’s are more versatile... they will good in a bunch of boards. The AMT’s are epic... but because they are so upright and pivot quickly they only go good in some boards. I’ve put the AMT’s certain boards and they won’t hold in turns as good compared to the MR’s. If I could only afford one set... I would go MR’s.
Great review guys! Also love that you listed your stats and what you’re riding.

It’s a center box that’s similar to a longboard box. You will need a special Trailer fin to fit this box.
