    So interesting thing about this certificate.
    When you get your private pilot you can immediately go out and exercise it, by just going for a flight.
    When you get your instrument rating, you can immediately go out and exercise it by filing and flying an IFR flight plan.
    When you get your commercial certificate, you can't. You have to convince someone to pay you to fly an airplane for which you do not have operational control.
    In other words, you can't immediately exercise it. It's just a milestone.

      Memorizing for the test and quickly forgotten. Which, tbh, is fine. I can pull out the flow chart when I'm deciding. It's not like I need it as a flow while I'm in the air.

      @@1dullgeek that was my rant and rationale as well- limited brain cells, I can't remember things like ATOMATOFLAMES, and they aren't something I need to have on the iceberg.

    Congrats. I’m next to DYB. Just down the road from RBW. There’s a good buffet style BBQ place called Dukes 4 min away from RBW if you’re into mustard based BBQ. I’ve been doing purchase pro/cons on Mooney M20C/E, Piper 180 and Piper 235s. If you ever land at DYB on a Saturday it would be cool to take a ride in a 235 to see how it performs if you’re up to it. I’ve flown a Cherokee 140, Warrior,Arrow 180, Cessna 172 and Diamond 20/40 so far.

    Congratulations brother on your commercial pilot rating! That’s awesome. I was looking at your list of maneuvers at the end of the video, and there’s a couple that I’ve never heard of. Interesting for sure. Congratulations again!

    • @1dullgeek
      @1dullgeek  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks, Russ! Probably Chandelles and Eights on Pylons. Here's some links on what they are:
      Chandelles: ruclips.net/video/Gb5tD9tE-vY/видео.htmlsi=p3DbsTjs6C_rGe1z
      Eights on Pylons: ruclips.net/video/uFVUHRQ8TAM/видео.htmlsi=Cn7zUIVWSuRQ-Tt8
      Summary:
      A Chandelle is a maximum performance maneuver. Imagine that you find yourself in a situation where you need to climb and turn 180 at the same time. The classic example is you've found yourself in a box canyan and you need to get out of it. A chandelle is what you'd want to do.
      Eights on Pylons are kinda like turns about a point but a little bit more specific. You aren't just correcting wind angle, you're trying to imagine that your wing is tethered to that point - like it's on a chain to your wing. So that you stay the exact same distance from it at all times. The classic example is you're flying someone who wants to do aerial photography and needs the subject perfectly in a given position.

      Thanks. Good luck on the instrument. I love having my instrument rating. I got the commercial basically just to keep learning. I'm not sure what's next for me.
      Multi-engine, tailwheel: probably.
      CFI: maybe.

    • @joshsaviationadventures
      @joshsaviationadventures 11 месяцев назад

      I thought about multi but for the cost to own one and there’s no real benefit for me to have one . My kids are all grown and it’s just my wife and I mostly, maybe a Cherokee 6 or a Saratoga would suit me just fine. But I hear ya, you’re not improving unless you’re learning.

    • @1dullgeek
      @1dullgeek  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@joshsaviationadventures The big reason for a multi-engine rating would be to be able to get a job flying. Tailwheel would be to improve my stick & rudder skills.

      I still have a desire to fly myself out to the PNW and have you give me a BFR where you find my weakest areas so that I can improve them. Not sure when that's going to happen though.
