I want an E&K x HT polish ... I want Julien to design a polish ... I want Safiya to design a polish ... I want Corrine and Rob to design a polish! She needs to release a collection of collabs with all her youtube friends ...
please keep doing and posting these full crafty streams to youtube!!! they chill my very exhausted anxiety riddled brain out so much, i really appreciate and enjoy them 🥰
It's like watching a video that good friends sent to you, of them having fun together. Evan will chuckle or get a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. Or Katelyn will give Evan some good natured ribbing, whilst gently trying to bring him back down to earth, and then her eyes will dance with mischief just moments later. We recognize these couples moments and individual moments, just as we would recognize them in any of our closest friends. It's something that relaxes me, and feeds me some lovely serotonin.
I’m not an expert but I think the reason nail polish base isn’t clear is it contains a thickening agent (usually something like stearalkonium hectorite) that keeps the pigments from settling out or separating. Since a glossy taco (top coat) doesn’t have any pigments it needs to hold on to it doesn’t need a thickener! This may also explain why most “DIY nail polish” tutorials that use just a clear polish/topcoat end up with a very unmixed looking product! It doesn’t have the thickener to hold on to the pigment! I absolutely could be wrong but it was fun looking stuff up and learning about how nail polish is made lol!
Most polishes do take at least two coats to look nice, so I can't fault the ones in the kit for that. And in case anyone wants to get polishes that are similar to any of these, I looked through my collection to find possible dupes! Here's what I found: 1 - Zoya Jen, Holo Taco Purple Slushie kind of? That's a fairly unique color I think. I have a couple hundred bottles of polish (oops) and I don't think I can properly dupe that one. Huh. 2 - Essie Stop Look & Glisten maybe? This is also a pretty unique color, naturally. 3 - Maniology Blue Glue, Holo Taco Bored Meeting or Cyantific, Zoya Robyn, Orly Glass Half Full 4 - basically any drugstore brand's black polish lol or for an actually opaque black, Holo Taco One-coat Black or Cirque Colors Memento Mori 5 - Holo Taco Twilight Shimmer kind of? or for a glittery-instead-of-shimmery version, Sally Hansen Moonstone 6 - China Glaze Fairy Dust and Holo Taco Scattered Holo Taco are less patchy versions with finer glitters; for the chunky look, try Sally Hansen Disco Ball (7 - 12 in a reply so this isn't *too* crazy long)
7 - Can't say I own a polish that looks *quite* like that lol but lots of drugstore brands sell glow-in-the-dark polishes around Halloween! To dupe that, I'd put on a bright yellow like Holo Taco Banana Hacks or Orly Oh Snap and top it with a glow-in-the-dark polish from Wet N Wild or Sally Hansen. Bow Polish even has a glow-in-the-dark stamping polish that isn't seasonal if you wanna get real fancy. 8 - Holo Taco Missed-shift, probably other indie brands' multichromes 9 - Cirque Colors Bonbon is basically that polish but with iridescent flakies in it. Can't dupe just the jelly part because jelly polishes aren't generally my jam so I don't have any. If Sinful Colors Daredevil is still being made, that's kinda like a non-jelly version. 10 - Sally Hansen Silver Storm, Revlon Lucky Us, Holo Taco Circuit Breaker (linear holo) 11 - Holo Taco Plumb Luck (a LE/seasonal polish, unfortunately), Cirque Colors Spinel, Zoya Payton, LA Colors Blast 12 - For a lumpy green polish, there's Sinful Colors Lil Beast; if you want the color without the lumps, China Glaze In The Lime Light is kinda similar I, uh... might be really into nail polish. Heheh.
I never watch Evan and Katelyn Uncut, or anything uncut for that matter, because I cannot for the life of me watch the same thing for two hours, but y'all got me with the DIY nail polish. *So great job! and thank you for keeping me entertained for so long, you guys!* 🥰
Same here! I'm only 15 minutes in but I think I might watch it through fully! Even if it is just on in the background (edit: about 20 minutes in and switched to ldshadowlady, I tried)
SUGGESTION: for future nail coloring or nail anything experiments, maybe buy some fake nails to paint on as they will give more area surface to cover and would be easier to paint.. and when you’re done you can just throw them away!
I think that #2/The Everything pigment should be named something like “New Years Eve Party” because it’s like a champagne colour and then it has random glitter like confetti
Kesha concert floor is my favourite. Lovely colour. So what we've learnt from this science adjacent stream, is micas are metallic polishes, the liquid tints are creme polishes, and the alcohol inks are jelly polishes.
The instruction video sounded like 5 minute crafts narration 😆 the polishes turned out awesome…well most of them…😜 ooey gooey fungus yellow would be cool if it dried. The duo chrome and silver chrome were so great! I’d buy those.
Also Evan has been around Joob so much he is much more used to her dander. Like you said she's probably part Siberian but if you live with a cat long enough, you can get used to the dander and have less of an allergic reaction (like me, mild cat allergies, but when I leave for work for a week or more I have the worst allergies coming home until I become accustomed to my cat again)
I think less scoops of pigment on the iridescent blue would give a better result! You don’t want an overlay color to be too pigmented because then it won’t reflect over the black as well if that makes sense.
Love this video! I hope you don't mind, but - I just want to say, though, after being a manicurist for 20+ years, I recommend that, because Evan's nails are cut much too short, he leave just a smidge more of the free edge of the nail when he cuts them. Cutting the nail too short into the nail bed can make your fingers more susceptible to pain and injury, bacteria and fungal infections, and ingrown nails among other things. I only say this with lots of care
If the alcohol ink had less drops you could do a cool nail art design! Black polish base coat, a couple white petals, alcohol/tint polish, white petals, tint polish, repeat to desired look. The finished product is a flower with "different colored"/ deeper colored petals. The black absorbs the light making the tint a little harder to see on it, the white reflects the light making the tint more visible.
If you are old enough…you may remember there used to be a glow in the dark nail polish sold at like Spensers which looked almost EXACTLY like the one you made wet & dry!😂😂 It also settled really bad & dried out super fast. And took literally HOURS to fully dry! You *HAVE* to let each layer dry FULLY before adding another or the one(s) underneath would literally *never* dry! And would end up just getting scraped or rubbed off. But if you managed to get each layer dry it was one of the longest lasting nail polish Ive seen but…stained your nail a sickly yellow. - For the duo chrome…bc it’s SO fine the best way to apply it to nails is to use a q-tip or sponge eye shadow applicator to rub the powder over black or white nail base…which give different effects. Also much more cost effective. And then you just put a glossy clear coat over it. You can do the same with the interference powder colors & all the metallic mica powders…IF fine enough. Although y’all due chrome policy actually looks BETTER than most professional versions.😂 Anytime I get my nails done/do my nails in duo chrome my husband ends up holding my hand more so he can tilt it back and forth to watch the colors shift. Especially when I get one that shifts to 3+ colors. Like the green that shift to a bluish/purple but has an almost gold middle color.(green is his fave color)So it’s not just Evan!😂😂 My husband has adult ADD or as his calls it “A D OH SHINY!”🤣😂 He also like halo glitter or unicorn skin/mermaid scales on my nails. I think he would paint his own nails with duo chrome if he wouldn’t get constantly heckled/picked on/judged at work…& in public. We live in the extremely conservative & Christian religious southern US where such a thing would be enough for many to label a man gay/trans & sadly/angering that still isn’t well tolerated here. Especially for any who fail to dress in men’s clothing or who wear things such as nail polish. Especially in extremely rural regions like where we live.😕 Makes me so angry/sad! But even goth isn’t tolerated well here…if that gives you any clue how conservative most are here. At least as far as anyone over 50yrs & even many 30 & over.😔 - Wish I had caught this stream live! Also if you ever want to just make your own nail polish & want it to be thicker, higher quality just use a high quality clear glossy or matte top or base coat as the base you add the pigment to. Just *MAKE SURE* it’s not an extremely quick dry nail top coat & especially not one that claims to help dry your polish. I’ve done this using mica powders & pure pigment powder to make a polish to match a specific color for bridesmaids in a friend’s wedding. Took a few tries since the color changes so much when added to the polish & once dry. But it ended up working great & by using super fine powders & high quality base it was acceptable at just one coat but we did 2 coats. Also since top coats are made to be more chip resistant everyone said it was extremely long lasting even with heavy activity.
Thank you for the newest addition to my birthday list ❤️ Katelyn, put some super soft sponges and nail polish remover in a little jar. You can just rest your nail in it for a few minutes and the polish comes off super easily, the remover lasts a while, and there's much less waste and mess!
As someone who works in resin for some years now, I will state this right now: There is no such thing as 'resin' pigments. All pigments come pretty much from the same sources. Rather factories that make synthetic pigments or places that turn natural stone, like laps into pigment. Pigment in raw form is a fine powder that companies can buy in bulk then market them however they want. This is why you can find the same exact colors being sold by several differing brands. The same pigment that is marketed as 'resin' pigment is the same you'll find in car paint, house paint, acrylic paint, etc the only difference is the end medium they mix the raw pigment into, or just sell the raw pigment like seen in micas. This is also why 'soap' pigments don't work well in resin, as they add an oil medium to it. Look at the 'ingredients' to all the pigments you have and you'll usually find the color along with an ID, or several ID's if the color tone used more than one to make the shade they offer. You can trace that ID back to the manufacturer. So Yes: You can use the raw pigments as you are to make nail polish, as that is how nail polish gets its color, same as paints. Heck, same as everything you look at that has a color. Your shirt? Colored using a dye that was mixed with a pigment that another company could very well have bought a batch and also be marketing as 'resin' pigment.p
@@pearohare4568 If they did, then why are they making videos like this? Or making a big deal out of 'resin pigments' when even the peral x there using isn't even marketd for resin... it's just a pigment. But they make such a big deal out of using something for the very thing it's designed to be used for, adding color to stuff. That's about as amazing as saying a microwave can heat up a TV dinner. And really, if they worked with resin for 'so long' then how come in their stream on 'what uv resin is best' they 1. Didn't folow the instructions ie. they tried to cure it for 20-30 secs when it says to cure it for up to 2 minutes (and it took them what? 2 hours before they botherd to READ whats on the bottles and still didn't follow it) . 2. Used a PLASTIC mold and wondered why resin was sticking to it, as if something that turns into a hard plastic wont adhear to you know... plastic. Thus why people who work with resin use SILICONE molds. 3. Couldn't grasp why the resin was sticky, again due to not curing it fully 4. Was using a UV flashlight that don't have the proper wavelenght ie 400+nm needed to cure uv resin and when they did bring out a big UV light it was held too far away to do much good. 5. Ignored duzzens of people in the live chat trying to tell them why they were having issues. Yeah... 'experts' uh huh...
I absolutely love youse guys. Not in creepy stalker way but in the Granny bakes ya cookies way 🥰Sincerly Thank You for making this grannies heart smile with every video! Stay Groovy✌~N~💖*edit* call the black on black J.Void !!!
My husband makes fishing baits/lures. He also has a bunch of mica powder, color shift powders, everything. We took clear nail polish and put some of the powders in it, did my toe nails, and they look amazing! Custom nail polish that has some color shift to it. People are always complimenting. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for something new and fresh
this is how nail polish is made! this is really how all colors in things are made! micas are just synthetic pigments that brand names can buy in bulk and put in their products. could be paint for a car, dye for a shirt or colors in nail polish.
Now u know why duo,& multi-chrome is so damn popular! It’s been more embraced by indie companies than mainstream- but there definitely is a need for this worldwide! It’s crazy to see an entire vehicle in duo chrome ridin down the highway- it’s breathtakingly beautiful!
I know this is a little old but to open the nail polish bottle that was stuck wrap a rubber and around the cap, if it is still sliding add one to the bottle too. Gives you more friction/grip to open it.
It's got colour in it for the additive to keep it fresh thickening and to reduce pigments from sinking out to much... dont know the names of it all and it supose to give stability and smooth coats to the polished...Evan was super kayos today lol and jooby looks like my ming but 3x the sise and littel less floof not much thow ....got to love the floof ps....help note...: best thin to take pigments and glitter get disinfectant wipes and picks 90% up in first wipe and can be used on silicon molds mats and so on I use them to reduce the mess when working with pigment or glitter..best of luck
I would be curious to see how the glitters hold up long term. One of the concerns indie polish makers often have about glitter is that some glitters will bleed over time being in the polish base. It's not usually something that is noticeable the day the polish is mixed but more so a week or more later on.
The purple glitter nail reminds me of those bendy pencils from bookfair, I had a clear purple bendy pencil with silver glitters as a kid, and several gummy pencil grips with the same vibe
I usually do my own crafting while watching these replays, but this one was way to fun to just watch and I hardly got anything done! All those initial mixes were so satisfying. :D Also, now I want to paint my nails...
How to keep your workstation slightly cleaner? I'd suggest using tape to pick up the strays or them rolls lint rollers in between so ya don't get them all over u. Great video guys! Keep on keeping on!
Katelyn I love that you mentioned you have 2 pretty nails and a couple of "not" pretty ones haha. I think we can all relate. And this might sound weird but you might want to look up the "diamond gap fingernail test" just to look into those "non-pretty" nails. To me they look a little clubbed, which can be a sign of lung cancer. I know that sounds crazy and weird, and while it's probably nothing, I would hate to not say anything and then find out my instinct was right when it was too late. Just thought I'd throw that out there! Love this stream. I've officially seen every video you've ever put out in your main channel and I'm working through your other channels!
How sheer a polish is is directly related to how much pigment was added. So as long as there's space in the bottles you could probably just up the amount of pigments to create a less sheer polish. And the micas are what get used in polishes too.
i had to wonder if they realize how most products out there get their color from. someone else pointed out that there isn't such a thing as resin pigments and they are true its just pigment made that is sold and labled to be for this or that but its all the same and used in a number of things from nail polish to car paint to shirt dye to packaging colors. it made me laugh the last time they did this for paint like they can not be serious
I was very surprised by the alcohol ink one ... I really like that one plus of course the duo chrome is awesome ... Great video ... Love these fun experimental videos ... You guys are awesome
I recently started a new job and part of my position requires running tests in a lab. On day 2, I found out that we use a vortex shaker for our gluten tests and I was way too excited about it because of your videos. 😂
In one of your videos, Katelyn mentioned Marie Kondo's book in passing. You have no idea the profound effect that little mention has had on my family and home. Thank you! And btw, LOVE your channels! We always look forward to the next one.
I think that, for the most part, these didn't turn out too bad. A lot of the issues you had was probably more due to the fact that the base polish formula was clearly meant to be used with pigment powders, not glitters or anything else. BTW, you can try to save that glow in the dark one if you want by adding alcohol ink to it to boost or change the color and thin out the consistency. Since alcohol ink is translucent, it should still glow but also paint on more evenly due to being thinned out and tinted so it doesn't look like fungus, lol. You could add yellow, blue, green, red or maybe orange ink to the glow powder polish and probably get good results with any of them you choose. Oh, that everything color truly is everything! Honestly, if you had just sifted out the bigger chunks of glitter, it would have been a perfect elegant everyday shade. My favorite is definitely the duo-chrome though, especially since those are actually my colors! ...Honestly though, if you wanted to continue the experiments, I'd head to the nearest dollar store and look for a clear base and top coat combo and buy those, then just find an empty nail polish bottle to hold any excess clear nail polish (to make room for the pigments) and you'd be good to go, lol.
The alcohol ink is so interesting because usually nail polish remover has alcohol in it, which is probably why it got watery, but i know surprised it worked at all!
Slowly working my way through this playback. I'm gonna have to go get some clear polishes & have a play around. My girls would LOVE to do this too. The multi chrome, silver & red/pink alcohol ink are my faves so far
Really nice an fun experiment. I always love you two try stuff out. The Everything polish looks like something the secretary of a law firm would wear...I kind of like it even of it at the same time a bit like you swept the floor xD
23:59 At first I heard this as "I wanna try making our own Holotov Cocktail" and I have no idea what that might look like but I'm assuming it's some kind of glitter bomb and I'd like to see it please.
Thank you. I'm going through the worst time of my life right now. I don't mean that dramatically, it is literally the worst time. Your stream was so needed just for me to watch something happy that gets my mind off the sheetshow that is my current life.
@@syltwee Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to send me well wishes! That anyone would be so kind to a stranger truly means the world. Glitter Unique has a great nail polish suspension base, as well as TKB trading. DRK Nail Labs has a great pre-made nail polish making kit but they sell only once a month for 1 week with a 3 week turnaround time. Duochrome and multichrome pigments are so very expensive indeed but they do make the most gorgeous nail polishes.
I 100% support an E&K x HoloTaco nail polish set!
I don't wear nail polish but I would love to see what polishes can happen in that collab.

Yaaaaaaaas
With a little space joob in the stars
No, no, no! I don't need more reasons to want to do resin! 😑 Though... there were never enough little stars to do the zodiacs.... 🤣

Kesha concert floor is my favourite. Lovely colour. So what we've learnt from this science adjacent stream, is micas are metallic polishes, the liquid tints are creme polishes, and the alcohol inks are jelly polishes.

Dude they have worked with resin for so long it’s like their job by now they know how to work resin and what pigments are and what kinds there are
@@pearohare4568 If they did, then why are they making videos like this? Or making a big deal out of 'resin pigments' when even the peral x there using isn't even marketd for resin... it's just a pigment. But they make such a big deal out of using something for the very thing it's designed to be used for, adding color to stuff. That's about as amazing as saying a microwave can heat up a TV dinner.
And really, if they worked with resin for 'so long' then how come in their stream on 'what uv resin is best' they
3. Couldn't grasp why the resin was sticky, again due to not curing it fully
I'm watching this in 2024 and would like to know if you're still upset about this.
I would love a collab with Cristine that would be amazing!
Katelyn has such a nice nail bed shape and size for nail art!
I REALLY like the #2 polish- it looks so pretty and elegant!
I love Evan’s excitement! Videos are fully of fun chaotic vibes! Keep up the amazing content Evan and Katelyn !!
This was fun to watch! The duochrome was so beautiful, it was kinda like a satin finish, not glossy nor matte.
Honestly.... in love with the everything even only with the first coat
Follow up: I would genuinely buy the everything one I love that
Simply x evan&Katylin: joobs (a black galaxy type one), utter chaos ( a red with Evans face on it) ... I'm living for this
I love them all but my favorite is the everything polish. This was a lot of fun to watch.
i LOVE the pickle one especially because of the texture because most pickles DO have that texture
Evan is a pretty wholesome dude
Now u know why duo,& multi-chrome is so damn popular! It’s been more embraced by indie companies than mainstream- but there definitely is a need for this worldwide! It’s crazy to see an entire vehicle in duo chrome ridin down the highway- it’s breathtakingly beautiful!
I know this is a little old but to open the nail polish bottle that was stuck wrap a rubber and around the cap, if it is still sliding add one to the bottle too. Gives you more friction/grip to open it.
this looks so fun, now I want this kit, I never have the colors I would actually like.
It's got colour in it for the additive to keep it fresh thickening and to reduce pigments from sinking out to much... dont know the names of it all and it supose to give stability and smooth coats to the polished...Evan was super kayos today lol and jooby looks like my ming but 3x the sise and littel less floof not much thow ....got to love the floof
ps....help note...: best thin to take pigments and glitter get disinfectant wipes and picks 90% up in first wipe and can be used on silicon molds mats and so on I use them to reduce the mess when working with pigment or glitter..best of luck
I loved this I’m sad I missed it live but this is perfect!!! I loved the everything polish!!!!
I love the iridescent purple 💜 really love this video
🎵 It's Polish Time do do do do Polish Time, yah! 🎵
I would be curious to see how the glitters hold up long term. One of the concerns indie polish makers often have about glitter is that some glitters will bleed over time being in the polish base. It's not usually something that is noticeable the day the polish is mixed but more so a week or more later on.
I am surprised at how much I like the dark blue first nail
as kesha once said "dirt and glitter cover the floor", thus created the everything
She's such a gem and a boss, past and present music.
#2 Metallic Taupe.
I thought that the Joobie charm was him hugging ham, lol!
Katelyn just staring directly, head empty into camera the entire time the tutorial video played kinda sent me.
Your videos bring me such joy 😊 Thank you!!
The purple glitter nail reminds me of those bendy pencils from bookfair, I had a clear purple bendy pencil with silver glitters as a kid, and several gummy pencil grips with the same vibe
This was so fun and we found out how hard it is to make a one-coat black nail polish 💅 awesome video guys 🤗😎🙏🏽
The interference blue pigment looks like the dragon scale from dragon tales!
That dragon scale was incredible. I always wanted to see more screen time of it than we got, lol.
I usually do my own crafting while watching these replays, but this one was way to fun to just watch and I hardly got anything done! All those initial mixes were so satisfying. :D Also, now I want to paint my nails...
Oh the fun I would have as a nail/makeup artist with all your fun pigments 💅
Came here to say this. Also noticed the clubbing and wondered about any health issues obstructing oxygen levels.
I don’t think her fingers look clubbed at all.
I watched on replay who ever said pink over silver in chat had a great idea! Fun project.
The way she complemented his nails (#7) 😩 I love them so much
How sheer a polish is is directly related to how much pigment was added.
Congrats on the new job
congrats on the job! did you put googly eyes on the shaker? :-)
In one of your videos, Katelyn mentioned Marie Kondo's book in passing. You have no idea the profound effect that little mention has had on my family and home. Thank you! And btw, LOVE your channels! We always look forward to the next one.
Omg. I’m gonna have to get a resin time shirt to wear during my… resin time resin time!
Full Chaos Evan!
Love the holo taco appearance. 🥰
Those colors are all pretty cool but I would have liked to see you use a holo pigment powder in one.
Oh nail polish and crafts! Oh I love it!
I need that duochrome pigment in my life. It's stunning!
Holo taco has some really good multi chrome nail polishes! I know it's not dust but it is something!
Nail polish suspension base is love & life.
swatch sticks would have been a good idea!! But absolutely love them!!! Keep up the awesome videos guys!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Ooooh since the alcohol ink actually worked well ... Maybe you should try the rainbow alcohol ink ... I think that would be gorgeous
The everything mix is the kind of thing I would buff onto a nail so you end up with all the glitter on the surface instead of covered
Evan and Katelyn giving Icetruck Killer vibes from Dexter 💅
Really nice an fun experiment. I always love you two try stuff out.
The Everything polish looks like something the secretary of a law firm would wear...I kind of like it even of it at the same time a bit like you swept the floor xD
Evan & Kathlen beauty days
Evan and Katelyn make up merch! Yeyeyeyey
Kesha's concert floor makes a beautiful taupe.☺
I had a nail polish like nail polish number 8, it’s best over black base coat but was stunning I live for duo chrome
23:59 At first I heard this as "I wanna try making our own Holotov Cocktail" and I have no idea what that might look like but I'm assuming it's some kind of glitter bomb and I'd like to see it please.
Should have bought some nail tips and glued them to a board for testing.
Thank you. I'm going through the worst time of my life right now. I don't mean that dramatically, it is literally the worst time. Your stream was so needed just for me to watch something happy that gets my mind off the sheetshow that is my current life.
not sure how much it counts from a stranger, but i truly hope that your situation improves soon. i wish for nothing but the best for you!!!
@@syltwee Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to send me well wishes! That anyone would be so kind to a stranger truly means the world. You'll be happy to hear that although things are not perfect, my life has improved since I first wrote this comment! I sincerely hope this message finds you in good health and great joy. 🖤
@@crowqueen3687 I'm so happy that things are better!! I'm proud of you :)
Your Su-purr-visor was the piece de resistance for my originally deciding to sub to this channel. 😻
Evan's thumb looks like a Radioactive zombie thumb which is awesome.
Evan “I wanna do what you wanna do first” and then proceeds to do what he wants at the start 😂
4th! Never done nails before. Excited to see what happens!!
My comment isn't showing? I commented first
Messy hands = artist. My old mentor used to say "you can always tell someone is an artist when there's ink under their nails".
The base reminds me of snail slime you’d use for paper mache lanterns as a kid
Love it. Even is having so much fun.
The first colour matches sir wiggle bottom
Maybe you should try that with gel nails, it's just like resin!
I love everything glitter nail polish! I want some!!!!!!
I love how Katelyn was just staring into our souls while watching the tutorial 😂😂😂
I love how it was all everywhere like when one person was doing something the other person was something otterly different
Not me looking at my resin supplies wanting to make nail polish
cool camera set up!
