    Oh wow, I have just decided to start making wigs as a business. I have always handsewn for myself and I made one for a work colleague after much persuasion. I have just decided to really practice and do it on a sewing machine as it will be stronger and quicker. I can't believe I already knew all the tips except the first one about the block and the pins, this is because I have used a sewing machine since I was 10. I have always enjoyed sewing small pieces and customising my clothes, so all the sewing tips were almost natural to me. I'm excited because I thought I was in over my head trying to do this but the sewing experience is definitely going to help me. 😁😁 I always talk myself out of doing things because I lack confidence but this video was a great help.

      Thanks for taking the time to share your journey. I can really relate to your experience. I also never felt confident starting a wig business. 10 years on, I’m glad I pushed through the fear. ❤️ Wishing you lots of success!

    I think there's one more extremely important thing for noobs to be aware of and that's depending on the type of sewing machine you have, it may or may not require a certain size bobbin... Cause not all bobbins are created equal! I have a basic brother machine and the bobbin winder broke due to moving so i bought prewound bobbins well i thought my machine was broken cause it would but knot up all crazy underneath, it was unbelievably frustrating cause i couldn't afford a new machine and i don't care for hand sewing anymore at all but come to find out the prewound singer bobbins from Joanns work perfect while anything from Walmart DOES NOT. Lol. Hard lesson learned.

  • @kahliacoron7671
    @kahliacoron7671 Год назад +1

    I just watched this other video & as far as sewing the wefts onto the cap once they’ve been doubled , I wanna know what if what she did was correct … do you sew through just the top weft or through both wefts . It looked like she just sew through the top weft only with a zig zag stitch

    • @Fabluxwigs
      @Fabluxwigs  Год назад

      Yes! Sewing through the top weft with a zig zag stitch will give you a very flat finish! When you sew through both, you have EXTRA security but you’ll have a “lip” along your wefts so it won’t be flat, flat. I hope that makes sense.

    She was saying it’s more flat that way which makes sense but would both wefts still be secure by sewing just the top one as oppose to doing both ?

    • @Fabluxwigs
      @Fabluxwigs  Год назад

      Hey! Yes. It will still be secure as long as you doubled your wefts correctly. ie they are both firmly attached to each other. Otherwise, one weft could start to droop . Great question! 🤗

    Can the wrong size needle cause you to get Birds nest under the cap when sewing ?

    • @Fabluxwigs
      @Fabluxwigs  Год назад

      Yes. If the needle is too small for the thread you're using, it can cause the thread to drag, not placing it correctly, leading to bunching.

    I have a couple questions when I’m pulling my thread to get a little more length to cut it’s really hard and my needle bends a little.. what could be wrong? Also my needle breaks half way through sewing double weft tracks on cap smh.

    • @Fabluxwigs
      @Fabluxwigs  Год назад +1

      Hey! I’m soooooo sorry I missed your comment 😢. It’s probably your tension. It’s bot allowing your thread to glide through the tension disc. Use a denim/jeans needle from Amazon/Quilting store/Any department store.
      Check that the needle isn’t hitting the metal plate as it comes down. I’ll try and do a video on this. Good luck!
