I flew hangliders many years ago (late 1970's) and was given an incredible sail plane experience In the late 1980's and was given the stick for a few minutes. Then the pilot finished the flight with a 10 foot of the ground fly by ending with a straight up ascent when he the completed a three leaf and landed. One of the greatest experiences of my life. I enjoyed watching you prepare and take care of you're aircraft in pursuit of what you obviously love to do. I subscribed to ejou your enthusiasm and you're beauty. Thank you for sharing with us and good luck and safe flying.
I lived in Germany as a child many MANY years ago. My dad was in the US Army. He had a friend with a glider, and he took me and my brother for rides every once in a while. I do not remember where this took place. But I remember well how it felt to be winched off the side of a mountain in the Alps. It was sometime in the early 60's. We were stationed at Garmisch.
Got to ride in one back in 1985 while stationed in Germany. What a thrill! Especially since I have a fear of heights. I enjoyed the ride, but, I was real happy to get back on the ground.

JS, on the video at 5:15 you are attaching a bungee that you are pushing away from you to hook into the rear of the wing bag. Many eye doctors will not have any bungees around the house due to the large number of eye injuries they cause when they slip from the hand. You can lose an eye when they snap back at you. Always think of this when using a bungee.
Yeah, I cringed and thought the same thing. Pull the bungee strap towards you to connect, rather than pushing them away. Then if if the bungee accidentally slips from your hand, it springs away from your face/eyes, and not towards it. Many people have lost their sight when using bungee straps. Treat them as being dangerous. Good luck, and stay safe.

As someone who knows very little about gliders but finds them cool, this was awesome! I've never seen how they assemble before. And who knew they make jackets for your whole plane. Very cool!
Taping the gaps at the wing roots, hardcore! The tailwheel on my plane has more drag then this whole bird. I also liked the little suspension springs on the wing wheels. That is one lucky aircraft.
@@HotelPapa100 Yes I realized/remembered that after I typed that, but for this fat tired draggy small airplane pilot it still gave me a chuckle. Her bird is otherwise so low drag, that the root taping is no doubt pretty significant. I also like the way she covered every inch of it after the assembly, my aircraft would have just had to tough it out! I've only been out once and it was such a different than when I'm normally tooling around in powered aircraft. Being in the glider was sooooo quiet. Gliding is fun. I called my mom right after I went for that ride (around the Rockies by Boulder, CO) and my mom was worried... "aren't glider more dangerous than airplanes?" I told her, "no way. There's no engine! After that, there's hardly any other moving parts!!" I don't think she fully understood. Was still a good laugh.
YT's algorithm does it again! Wow...body: 10; face: 10; hair: 10. For a perfect score of 30!! Just amazing. This video was about...I don't know what it was about - something to do with gliders or something.
The sailplanes never fail to impress me with their aerodynamic finesse, the way they keep moving with barely any deceleration from the changes in air density. The airflow and motion of a sailplane, what an art to produce such a constant forward motion. Just wait until the new wave of refined brushless dc boost motors and flawless configuration arrive. BTW, the closest thing to a sailplane I have flown is a Mooney M-20. Similar flight sensation. I would suppose one who owns such a nice airplane would be more relaxed to know it is shielded from scratches and other things that would make an annoying "injury" to their sailplane. I get very nervous every time I get a new car and would be as much or more worried about my airplane. I could not deal with an outside permanent tie-down.

That's standard on gliders. You don't want the high pressure from the lower side blow through the gap and mess up the flow downstream.
