    Statistically, people only have a 10% chance of staying sober after getting clean. Elton is a VERY blessed man! To have lived thru his addiction and having stayed clean! God bless Elton. You are an amazing roll model

    His autobiography is a great read. I finished it in two sittings, couldn't put it down. What an extraordinary life! Always remember, Elton John wouldn't have become who he did without Bernie Taupin. I rank them right up there with Lennon/McCartney.

    Being the youngest of 4 siblings, I would listen to my older brother's and sister album's. I was 9 when I would love to jump on my bed and sing Elton John's " Saturday Night Is All Right For Fighting! " I then began to buy all his album's up to the " Goodbye Yellow Brick Road! " I would love to sing Elton John songs all the time. 😀☮️❤🎼🎹🎙🎤🔊🔥🎶🎵🤘👍

    When he sang Englands Rose. I cried. She was the princess of the world. We'll never see another woman like Princes Diana! Rest easy, Lady.

    Being born in 1972 and thus missing out on listening to his first ten albums or so up untill 1980 in a conscious manner, Elton John wasn’t that hip when I grew up and lived my formative years musically, mainly from the early 80’s on.
    Quite the opposite, really.
    I knew of the Kiki Dee duet, because it kind of sticks in a child’s brain 😄. I loved that.
    I enjoyed music as a kid though (my mum’s Beach Boys, Beatles, Queen and ABBA albums) and pop from the 80’s. So much so, that I started playing bass at 15.
    Than, going back in music history later and listening to those ‘70’s Elton John albums... Wow, I had to admit he and Bernie actually were the greatest! All those (double) albums! And all those musicians on those albums and on live tours! Wow!! Now I totally understand why Steely Dan didn’t dare to go on the road: Elton’s bands were just unbeatable! 😉
    I loved reading his book. So honest, lonely, open and never losing his terrific sense of humor (the healthy side of the mask). A book that can only have been written by a true grownup. 😄
    Not just another star, suffering artíst, but a real humanoïd that’s been up there, crashed back down to Earth, and lived to tell us about it. One to actually learn from.
    🖖

    His first hit in the U.S. wasn't "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" it was Crocodile Rock in 1972/1973. Went to #1 on Billboard in the U.S. and Canada.

      No. It is 1970s Your Song. And after that in 1971 was Madman Across the Water with that title song, Levon, and Tiny Dancer

    • @jdenino6022
      @jdenino6022 6 месяцев назад

      @@teresasellsatl I was talking about #1 hit. Your Song was #8 on Billboard. Tiny Dancer only hit #41 on Billboard for some strange reason. It became much more popular after it was featured in the movie "Almost Famous." Also "Daniel" hit #2 on Billboard. Paul McCartney's song was #1 and kept Daniel from getting to #1. Elton's songs are still popular 50 years later, still on the radio.

      The first song that really hit my radar was Honky Cat. Your Song & Rocket Man were also top 8 Hits before, Crock, but yes Crocodile Rock was his 1st monster hit...# 1 for 3 weeks.

    Fair amount of wrong information in this. For example, “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me” most certainly was not on the Yellow Brick Road album.

    How is the name Reginald "unfortunate" ? His name could've been something like Gaylord. and the whole glam rock thing was a trend in the 70s with ppl like David Bowie and Marc Bolan.

    • @MarisValdez-o3h
      @MarisValdez-o3h 8 месяцев назад

      Wasn't a trend. Was part of popular music culture. Created great tunes.

    • @jdenino6022

      @@MarisValdez-o3h Yeah but I was thinking about people with names starting with R like Roger Waters, Roger Daltrey, Rod Stewart, Robert Plant etc. I guess he wanted to change it to something that stood out and was more flashy.
