Just been recently to Zuffenhausen, at the Museum , and got to speak with my Former collegs and Team Leaders , i got a Special Walk around in the Classic Werkstatt ( they work on the Museum cars only there ) and i got to touch some of the Paris- Dakar 911s and a inside Look at the newest Weissach developments on the New 911 body hacks ! I i learned That in weissach is the somewhat labaratory for many things that go thereafter in serial production . They have so many prototypes and Parts there , you wouldnt believe ! So thrilling what Porsche is doing with Research on aerodynamics and Design . The 996 came straight from that genetics of research and pinky as a unforgotten Designer ! When i Look at my 996 1. Gen from the Front , i always See the GT 1 in Front of mẹ ! So much Emotion and pleasure is combined in this ! Ferdinand Said once : „ The last car to be Build , will be a Porsche „ According to developments in present times , its a Phrase that seems not to unrealistic ! Thanx Lee for your Channel and that you Show interesting insights of our Brand . We love it just so much !
Great video as always Absolutely stunning I’ve always preferred endurance style les mans racing series over f1 the North American series use to be fantastic great to see Porsche back at it 👍
Very enjoyable video as ever Lee! One point though; I would imagine that the link to the 996 is probably better described as “Tenuous” rather than “Tedious”.
Lucky!! The most beautiful racecar of all time! Love that thing🔥 One of the main reason why I bought my 996tt, was that it has the engine based on this car😎 Next time, sign me up as a waterboy or something and I'll drive there in my Turbo😁
I've picked up ifrom Tamiya the Porsche GT1, Nissan R390 and Toyota GT-ONE, the latter I've already built and it looks amazing. They are all gorgeous but the Porsche stands out, what a stunner. Imagine owning the road version, you wouldn't care about comfort or anything, would just be driving it all day with a stupid smile on your face!
Last year I went to the museum in my 996.2 GT3. And there it was, the 98 GT1 street. I shot pics from every perspective. In my opinion the best looking sports car ever, it is just jaw dropping.
I abslutely love this car. It is unbelieavable from every angle. I specifically bought a 996 because it had the GT1 healights. Yes, I love fried egg and bacon! and this car delivers both.
This car was always an Icon of my childhood, I never really appreciated it until I bought a 911 of my own. When seeing it up close and personal this year at Goodwood's members meeting, it left me absolutely speechless. Great video on a great car.
I remember this era so well. Last 911 winner, but also the many changes at Porsche going forward. Good and bad, IMO. I am surprised that you didn't get in the cockpit, let alone even drive it? Yes it's at the museum 'n' all, but there are other GT1 street cars, maybe you could do a follow up with one of those? Great summary Lee, well done.
Bring back proper homoligation road cars. Then again, dealership would just bend us over on the prices anyway. Or maybe most people don't care and they just want SUV.
Easily one of the most beautiful Lemans racer of all times
by far my favourite car of all time

Haha, you're on!
I had a 1:18 model of this car as a kid, probably my favorite. One of the most beautiful race cars ever made
I envy your access to the great Porsches from all eras Lee. But thank you so much for sharing it with us.
A pleasure shared is a pleasure doubled.

9:11 Minute long, nice detail!!
Thank you for all that History!
Beautiful car, lights 996, lines, and winer👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I’ve fell in love with this car because of need for speed Porsche unleashed
Beautiful car. Carbon ceramic brakes though
Have a large photo of this car in my office. Always get to say how it's my 996 GT3's big brother.
Fantastic episode really enjoyed it 👍
If possible, could you have a look inside the 961 Le Mans car at some point (959 race car)?
This is a great idea!
Always enjoy your videos mate! Cheers
Awesome Video 🤘. What happend to Chassis #001 after the backflip in Petit LeMans. Did they rebuild the car?

Great summary Lee, well done.
Would love to drive one, unfortunately this one isn't road registered. That's one for another video, without a doubt!
TENUOUS .....Not 'tedious'
Just love probably echoes the best 911 since we the 73 Rennsport , the 996 C2

The wife of the Vietnamese billionaire would like this car.
