Thanks! I have an Epi LP I've been hesitant to tackle the nut on. I'm going to get it on the bench soon for a new Tusq nut, possibly locking tuners too. Good stuff as always!
Nice job.. and nice kit.. question?.. why would the action raise at the first fret if you used 10 gauge strings?.. if they fit in the slots just fine.. the bottom of the string and top of the fret distance would not change?.. nice channel..
19:25 - I don't know if it's the camera-angle, but to me it looks like the low e-string is quite close to the fret bevel, likely causing it "fall off" the edge... Looks like there's a little more room on the high e-string side, but again, it could also be because of the camera-angle. The TUSQ nut is definitely a great upgrade!
I know, it must be the angle because I checked after I watched the video back and the spacing is even :) Also, the thicker gauge string can give that illusion as well.
I noticed you used the old nut to see the night of what you wanted. You measured everything but that and flipped the hight. The treble was at the bass and visa versa.
That’s a beautiful wood, very nice hardware also. 👍🏼
I really like the spalted maple look
I get a feeling from watching you work, that you have an office job and guitars are just a hobby.

Give it a try, Russ!

@@ManotickGuitarTech - That's great to hear, then all is in order!
True, indeed they can.
Have a great evening!

That les paul is well built! Good job on it.. And the new nut is a great upgrade. Anyway, your pickups came with the kit?
Thanks- yes, the pickups came with the kit. Will probably change them for some Seymour Duncans.
Did it solve the tuning issues?
Everything works great
Cheap junk is what it will always be.
