This was during the peak of Eric's heavy drinking and he was so drunk that Bill Graham carried him onstage. (Used to have the Rolling Stone issue covering the Last Waltz but I think my ex threw it away)
The article you posted is referring to when Eric's strap came off his guitar not how he entered the stage. I was actually alive when this happened, had the original coverage by RS from that date. It's not the sort of thing that is going to be mentioned in any retrospective. I will see if I can get verification from Marc Roberty. I am as big a Clapton fan as anyone and am not posting to put him down. Proud of the guy for overcoming his demons.
I really love this different angle
Eric really loved The Band, so cool he was present for their ‘Last Waltz’
❤ Such a great performance..♬ Eric & The Band.! 5 ⭐❤ 👍
Robbie will be sorely missed..💔 Loved and remembered well.
May He Rest In Heavenly Peace 🙏🎸 🪶🌻
Eric Clapton è stato strepitoso in questo brano viva viva viva Eric
Nice to hear what Rick and Robbie actually played that night
before robbie got his hands on the mix for the movie andpulled a "Spector" on it
Did he rerecord or clean his parts up? Seen this full alternate recording and a lot sounds redone
His playing sounds exactly the same on this song, the tone is just drastically different, which is interesting.
The bass guitar sounds totally different. You can hear some piano here. A part of Clapton's solo was cut too.
@@cruzcontrol1303 yeah his guitar sounds much more overdriven in the movie. I wonder if the mics on this recording were picking up a cleaner amp.
Timeless.....and so memorable
Cool blues!
I have the last waltz recording and this is my favorite part. I love when your straps twists and falls onstage. Yikes
Hot Jam
Clayton and the band doesn't get any better than this
instaBlaster...
0:43 Eric Clapton's guitar strap comes loose and Robbie Robertson picks up where he left off.
Love that song. Reap what you sow. Sow seeds of luv not hatred. God is love
♥♥♥
When the strap breaks I think Clapton was a tad surprised how good Robbie was.
He knew how good Rob was
Absolutely he knew.
You had a concert and Buffett for I recall twenty five dollars. Hard to believe, isn't it?
Lucky people got to see legends and feast on some good food
A damn good deal. Dinner and a show.
And what a concert...
Eric Slow Hand Clapton, former Cream, Yardbirds and Bluesbeekers’ member
I meant Bluesbrrakers
dont forget blind faith and Derek
Also part of Delaney and Bonnie.
All this when he was only 26…

that's bullshit
@@keepingitrandom I used to have the Rolling Stone that had a big write up about the "Last Waltz." It's an absolute fact, I saw the pictures.
@@steveoconnor7069 www.rollingstone.com/music/music-album-reviews/the-last-waltz-249795/ "stumbles" is not "carried off"
@@keepingitrandom Revisionist history. I had the RS with pictures
