    Great video once again O'Hare desperately needs this upgrade and 2028 is a pretty quick turnaround for such a big project. I think the designs look nice too, though not convinced about the space for events and live music, since airports I've been through have never had that, but who says things can't change.

    • @danielwhyatt3278
      @danielwhyatt3278 2 года назад +29

      I very much doubt that part as well, but would be nice if it did happen. I’m betting they could get the project completed before 2028 if they were actually willing to accept the fact that they would have to have a reduced service. But then again this is America we are talking about. Accepting less profits would be like asking them not to drink. It’s profits or nothing.😓 The only other country that I can imagine could get it done sooner would have to be China. Especially as the new Beijing airport being built looks surprisingly very veeeeery similar to this one. Both in materials, structural shape and interior design.

      I live in Japan and my home is in Wisconsin. 15 years ago flew in to O'Hare. What a nightmare! My flight to Wisconsin had been canceled so I called my family to pick me up in Chicago. Just by luck we found each other. After getting out of customs I couldn't see an exit anywhere, but ahead of was a single door. Went through it and my parents were about 100 feet away trying to find exit for international flights which they too couldn't find. Airport personnel were also extremely unfriendly. (I previously worked at Portland Airport and we would never treat travelers that way back then).
      My next flight home I avoided Chicago, traveled from Nagoya to Detroit instead and easily caught my connecting flight to Wisconsin. Detroit has one long, long terminal, but at least it made it easy to figure out where your flight was instead of the nightmare that is O'Hare. Hopefully these changes will fix all that.

Take a look at the almost finished Helsinki - Vantaa airport in Finland. As the country that invented and pioneered flight and the commercial airport, It’s been difficult to see them reach and be pushed beyond their intended lifespan and become more difficult and expensive to maintain, showing signs of decay that just isn’t acceptable. I’m hoping this and the many tens of billions being spent overhauling other U.S. airports like JFK, LaGuardia, LAX, San Diego, Salt Lake City and Philadelphia expanding it’s cargo operations, will signal a new age in American commercial Aviation that makes domestic and international travel within and from the U.S a much more pleasant experience and take American Airports off of lists of the worst airport experiences. I know they’ll never be the super luxurious airports like those of the Emirates or major Asian hubs but, considering U.S. airports are in part, publicly funded, I wouldn’t want them to be. I do not see anything functional, esthetical or technical about the random shape of a river in Chicago that is useful or valuable to design the new airport.
