  • We're proud to be working in collaboration with OB1, supporting the youth of today: www.ob1original.com
In this video How to Quickly Remove and Reapply Skirting, Tony will teach you to do just that!
This is a new build so what we're going to do first is take off the skirting that's already on the walls by scoring a Stanley Knife across the top of the skirting and gently prying it away from the wall with a wrecking bar or crow bar.
Once we've got the skirting off and the walls have all been cleaned down we can start to dress and prep the skirting ready to put it back on.
Now we've got the back of our boards all cleaned, nice and smooth we can start to apply our grab adhesive, OB1 Grip & Grab where we can start to put the skirting back on with a little tap from the hammer.

Looks great. Only thing I do differently is put a filling knife against the wall so the prybar doesn’t put a dent in it

The "old skirting board" comes away so cleanly... Because it's not old skirting board.

Great job. Is it better this way or screw and nails.
    Any advice.

Will a new build be this easy? Can’t decide if it’s worth doing to fit our floors or if we’re going to use beading (which I hate 😅)

Any advice on how to take off skirting board that are behind radiators where the pipes actually go into the floor?

Hope all mine come off so easily. Just finished our loft conversion and she who must be obeyed has decided we want wooden floors upstairs, not carpets. So I need to remove all the new skirting I put on last week. Unfortunately, I didn't hold back on the grab adhesive!!...😂

Interesting video. Personality can’t stand sticking skirting and pinning. I drill counterbores, screw then plug over the screws and trim the plugs. Old school bullet proof. More time but a professional job worth doing

If you only extend the blade a click (or two) from the tool, it will be far less likely to wander, as the blade shoulders will touch the wall and the skirting board and guide the tool.

@keithtynan7469 thank you! I will do this when I remove our bedroom baseboards in the coming weeks. During a test run, not only does the blade tend to wander but I also found that with the blade fully extended, I'm cutting a bit deeper into the wallboard than necessary.

How would you go about removing the skirting if they have been fixed with screws and the screw holes have been filled and painted.

What grab adhesive does Tony use?

  • @happyharry7331
    @happyharry7331 10 месяцев назад

I have always used adhesive to secure skirting it's not like its holding anything up (leastways I hope not) also if the wall is uneven the adhesive just sticks where it touches and the skirting stays straight. then you can fill the gap with more of the adhesive when you lookout the finished job your eye follows the straight skirting not the wobbly wall. PS I am just a DIYer so dont start shouting at me

The only point of removing old skirting is to replace it with new skirting. Why did you put the old back on?

I am not in anyway criticising Tony, he has forgot more than i will ever know, but would skirting come off that easy if it had been glued in with those new polymer grab adhesives , i have no idea , but brilliant idea because i usually have to fit moulding around the skirting because i have never tried this method, goes without saying that Tonys mehod is much more professional looking . Love the channel by the way Tony .

Hi Simon thanks for your kind words
This is the issue with price work and big developments, now it could be said that the price was good and a bad tradesman either way it shouldn’t have happened personally it was bad tradesman because his or hers pride should stop them doing half a job, now it’s onto product there are many out there me personally I love OB1 because of two reasons 1 it’s an incredible product and does the job really well, 2 they are supporting the youth of today getting into Construction which we all feel strongly about, have a awesome week all the best Tony 👍
