I have been trying to attach a prong to a base without success. Your video showed me what I was doing wrong. The fact that the little prong was so small compared the base explained why the prong was melting first. I know this stuff but after 3 failed attempts I realized something must be wrong. With more experience these things will come naturally but right now you helped wake me up to stop doing the same thing wrong over and over.

Having trouble with some silver earrings where the base is very thin and the post is very thick. The earring itself is melting within a second regardless of where I’m aiming the torch. Any advise?
