the DUI was 30 years ago. He showed proper remorse. He offered to resign as a teacher. He hasn't had a drink since. Holding that against him is foolish.
To the person that said Alanah is a joke because she's naive about our politics; first off, she's technically not a citizen, expecting her to pay up-to-date attention to the policy designs of her non-native living status is naive. Secondly, she's literally stated multiple times in this very VOD she gets stuck on language. That's a massive problem when diving into politics and is a blind spot, but it's not naivety. The problem lies in that politics depends on language, yes, but the framing and construction of that language is arguably more important than the words themselves: • The tone in which it's said • Is it consistent with past speech? • Who the message is for and who it's against • Similarly, the political tendencies and beliefs of those two audiences • Lastly (that i can think of), is this speech consistent with past and/or current actual actions? For politicians, true and false seems to be a spectrum; with even people like Bernie Sanders standing by lies espoused by Israel against Palestinians, for instance. It is never enough to simply read or hear what a politician says, because most competent ones are going to craft their messages to a select group. You need additional context and data to build a more complete picture; and let's be blunt here, a lot of my fellow Americans don't even care to be doing that much. Naive? No. Mentally stuck? She's said as much; but she's trying, which is a hell of a lot more than most bother to do. And she's not even a citizen. If fellow Americans all did what she's trying here, we'd be in a lot better place.
As someone who is childless I'm OK with people getting tax breaks because we don't provide enough assistance to people with children. It is indeed optional and it's something you have to apply for. I came from a single parent household so my mom would apply for it and it would help her take care of my brother and I. To use made up numbers right now, if I pay $500 and my neighbor with kids pay $500 in taxes but then they file for a break that gives them $100 back for each of their kids, I'm OK with that. That's them saying "Hey, I need help to feed my kids. I need help to make sure we have childcare to watch them. I need help to get them clothing." Because as of right now our country does not provide for those who need it. I'm ok with that coming from the money I paid. But if I was asked to pay $700 and they just naturally get to pay $500 that feels like shit. Not everyone needs help feeding, clothing, caring for their children but they'd get to pay less regardless. Programs that are available and optional are *primarily* used by those who genuinely need them. It's like how most areas have a food bank where anyone can go for free but you're more than likely not going to see anyone who can easily afford groceries popping in for bread and milk. I'm aware that when it comes to tax credits people who don't need it still can and will file for it but I still don't believe EVERYONE does. Until we have proper infrastructure in place to just directly help kids who need it, I'm OK with parents requesting it when they need it. I'm not OK with it just being a gimme for all, regardless of need. It's the difference between saying "We are all equal and we'll help those who request it." and saying "You are not worth as much because you have opted to not have children."
Here is the reality of Walz, he was in the military for 24 years. When he left, he was given an honorable discharge. Walz finished his career in May. His squad was given orders in August to go to the Middle East. There was no stolen valor. As for Jackass David Vance, he did fuck all in the miltary. He was only in it 4 years, and he was just a press secretary. He wasn't a soldier, or really all that useful at all.
I live in Minnesota. Walz is liked quite a lot. He a genuine guy who wants to help everyone have a better life. As for the Minnesota accent, most here don't have much of an accent, which is why a lot of the national media are from Minnesota.
He abandoned his troops while in a leadership position and was demoted as a result. He's also lied about his record in combat. He was also the one who set up the snitch hotline. He is absolute scum.
I could not figure out what the hair made you look like until you mentioned the english woman, holy crap it was spot on. Especially if you know who Chloe is from "too hot to handle" and "perfect match"
Btw, Alanah, some feedback on the idea that cheering for politicians is weird: I really don't think so, not when they're sending a message that resonates with what we want and would benefit society as a whole. Why is it not strange to cheer for a game developer promising to build a virtual world we can experience for a few hours, but it's strange to cheer on someone who wants to work to change things in real life, for years to come, protect your rights, and ultimately make decisions that will affect us holistically?
@@GreekFreakyJoker Well "politicians will build this great world" is not something i said, i said they'll fight for your rights. Unlike in game development, those leaders don't have full control of the decision making. There is strong opposition, so they'll will do what they can to improve things
@CarltonSmith45 that is not true and this mentality is exactly what leads to people like Donald trump to weasel his way in the office and appoint people like Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito in power, to give him FULL IMMUNITY, like a dictator. You sit there thinking your Vote doesn't matter, your voice doesn't matter and let that happen. You put more weight in fictional realities than real life, then complain that CEOs are destroying gaming, the games you need to "escape reality". The games where you often pretend to be a hero. Do you see the contradiction?
@@oowaz I am sorry man, but this must be a cultural difference type of situation, since I am from Greece and corruption is rampant. I cannot comprehend hearing a politician talking about how much he/she wants to improve the lives of the people and actually believing it. It is something a naive child would do.
Have you thought about covering the "stop killing games" petition in the EU or the response to piratesoftware's criticism of it? Hoping yall touch on it on PWL but I'm just curious if you have any input.
you are good at politics. you dont get overly challenged by different opinions and investigate any claims without investment. its nice and better than i could do.
Trumps life did not become worse by being President. Apart from the attention, he made millions by being president, got to delay ongoing court cases, got to give himself and his rich buddies a massive tax break for life and gained massive influence for him and his family in countries he had ongoing business concerns in.
That was a good line about the couch in his speech but he ruined it very slightly by pointing out the joke imo. He just should have left it at a knowing smile. Still, pretty good though. 🙂

Is that something to be proud of? Kids have experienced that and we don't automatically call it a good thing. What is a good thing is willingly joining the military and not dodging a draft because of a fake medical condition

He also wasn't drunk according to state law where it happened lmao.

The thing about morgues not hiring men is an urban myth btw. Or at the very least there's no proof of that being the case
child tax credit gives you a deduction every year on your taxes. Thanks to Walz, Minnesota offers the highest child tax credit in the country.
Alanah's english woman impression is clearly just a Rahul Kohli impression xD
Trump pretended to have bone spurs 5 different times

"Tampon Walz" sounds honestly kinda endearing given the context of why he actually put tampons in public schools. He's just a good lil guy.
