+LookitsLookas I knew he had it in him. In 2005, he did two movies "The Lords of Dogtown" and "The Brothers Grimm" that made me see he was able to slip into characters that were very different. He was also really good in a less showy role in 2001's "Monster's Ball."

and he won an Oscar to shut all the haters up too. Heath's performance was brilliance and can never be done again. the dark knight was a very sad movie not because of what Batman, but because we all knew that this is Heath's last and greatest performance.

N that's exactly makes this one of the best trailers ever. It's amazing and sets the film with out spoiling or revealing too much. I still remember the feeling first time seeing this trailer almost as much as actually going to it on the midnight release. Just amazing movie AND an amazing superhero movie. And then of course Heath Ledgers performance. You can't take you eye off him every time he's there. Don't know which is more surprising, him making the movie the way what he is or the fact that everyone else around him still hold there own. There's some all-time great actors in this movie and Leadger stands right with them. Funny I thought the same thing most everyone did when he was cast as the Joker...then I saw that first photo of him with the scars and I was instantly excited for it but not many expected it to be this great, as a movie, a sequel, and the Joker portrayal. Heath Ledger RIP....

Let me say a few things if I may:
    1) Christopher Nolan directed the shit out of this movie
    2) Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan wrote the shit out of this movie
    3) Christian Bale gives another legendary performance of the Batman. A serious one.
    4) Probably the most important: Heath Ledger acted the shit out of this character! His acting in this movie will always give you the same feeling you feel every time on Christmas morning - so many chills and saying “oh shit!” A memorable one it shall and will be forever! Oscar well deserved!

I love seeing Jonathon nolan's name mentioned because he really was an intregal part of getting this iconic movie to where it needed to go. Christopher nolan is obviously an unprecedented talent when it comes to getting a film from script to screen but Jonathan is a big part of getting those words to paper and making sure that him and Chris got them off the page and onto the camera the right way

What's so beautiful about this movie is that despite the fact you're watching a grown man in a bat suit fighting criminals, the director lets you enter the realistic world of a chaotic city. The Joker exploits the errors in even our current society (how even the most good of people are corruptable, like how Harvey Dent turned against his people and how the Batman himself had to break his rule and kill Dent). One line in movie history I will NEVER forget is when the Joker asks, "How many of your friends have I killed? [...] You see, in their last moments people show you who they really are. So in a way, I knew your friends better than you ever did." This is true. We would expect order but when everything is metaphorically falling down.. Who follows rules? If a crazed killer is chasing your vehicle, are you going to stop for that red light? Or if a building is collapsing, are the elderly and disabled going to escape first (just for social manners)? No. And this emotional transition can be seen in the people of Gotham through-out the movie. When the movie begins the police officers allow meetings with the Batman but later in the movie they grow selfish and blame Batman for not revealing his identity. Why? Because they are being threatened with their life for it. Otherwise the people of Gotham would happily let a normal citizen beat people to a pulp (people who they believe deserve it, although there is no official, legal justice in the matter).
All in all, The Dark Knight is an action-packed, thrilling and interesting movie. While at the same time, it is incredibly and beautifully dark and depressing.
God, I love this movie :P

We can't say. Sure, The Dark Knight was a blockbuster and it's still my favorite Batman live action film, but The Batman(2022) managed to become my 2nd favorite. Who knows if the sequel manages to be better than The Dark Knight? The reason I say this is because in both The Dark Knight and The Batman, there was a casting that was mildly looked down by the fans. In the Dark Knight it was for Heath Ledger, in The Batman for Robert Pattinson, and both Ledger and Pattinson delivered big time

What Ledger did in The Dark Knight is Probably the Greatest Acting performance in Cinematic History. It's beyond our Imagination that how can this types of acting even Exist.
Heath Ledger combined Charlie Chaplin's Demeanor , Buster Keaton's Fearlessness and Marlon Brando's Realistic Natural Method Acting all rolled into One and created his own Unique version of Acting in Joker which is completely Inventive.
Ledger also took inspiration from Francis Bacon's Paintings , Psychotic Nature of Malcolm McDowell's Alex DeLarge of Clockwork Orange as well as Voice influence from Tom Waits and made it as his own. and he went to an Extream Length for his role even more deeper than Daniel Day Lewis did for his roles, as Joker character is a Dark and Psychotic which requires the Blend of Craziness and Control yet So Depthful range where an actor just Flow into some invisible unusual frequency where he just hit that Stride where he (ledger) could do no wrong because he's Untouchable and so Free, as for him he feels like an Emperor who doesn't care how many great actors or whoever standing infront of him ( Bale , Freeman , Caine , Oldman , Eckhart ) but for Ledger they all are his Toys and He just played with his Toys. it's like flying with some Sonic speed and occasionally an actor goes to the sound barrier.. and heath has really just tapped into something here, he just tuned into some Station which we can't hear.
It's Natural Method + Unpredictable + Internal Depthful performance where even in some scenes and stills you can see the Humanity and Vulnerability of it as Despite of Joker is a Negative Character but still we all love Heath Ledger's Joker as some how we connect with his Ideology and philosophy despite of what he did is absolutely wrong as he tried to fix the world but by taking a wrong approach.
Ledger just Flow Naturally with the Rytham. And those who question him are unaware of his talent and potential as they haven't seen his earlier work like Brokeback Mountain and Monster's Ball in which he has delivered The Dark Knight Caliber of performances.
But still There exists a small yet vocal group of fandom that is convinced Heath Ledger’s Oscar win and the acclaim he received for his performance in The Dark Knight is a direct result of his death. The argument is that because of his untimely demise, his performance has been mythicised and ‘over-hyped.’
While Ledger’s death has doubtless served to propagate the legend surrounding his performance, that shouldn’t, and doesn’t, take away from the indisputable brilliance of what he accomplished with the Joker.
His premature death has meant that his work in The Dark Knight will forever remain his magnum opus and the part he will eternally be associated with. Were he alive, an actor of his calibre would have given us at least three additional notable performances by now.
In such a scenario, while the Joker might have remained his best work, it wouldn’t be the only thing people talk about when his name popped up, as is the situation now.
Having said that, his performance as the Joker is worthy of all the acclaim it has received. With the help of Christopher Nolan, Ledger developed the character from the ground up, and executed it in a way no one had done before, or indeed, has since. The interrogation scene alone is an absolute master class. Ledger nailed everything, the unique look, the idiosyncrasies and bodily ticks, the voice, the movement, facial expressions, everything.
It is one of the great exhibitions of contemporary acting, and perhaps the most exceptional performance of the 21st century, narrowly beating out Daniel Day-Lewis’ incredible work in There Will Be Blood.
Heath Ledger has left an enduring mark on the cinema landscape, and even decades from now he will be recognised for what he did - delivering a performance for the ages, and one that occupies a significant position in the pantheon of cinema’s greatest accomplishments.
His performance is not over-hyped; it is genius put to film.
Ledger was right, his movies WILL live on forever, and through them, so will he.
And Before emerging himself into the Joker Character in The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger didn't care about his Life and Family and also what kind of effect it would have on his body and Mental health because of he was so passionate for the Joker Character and he didn't care about money or his family or his life because of his Love and passion for the Art and for his work. And he has Channelise his inner demons (insomnia , Pain and exhaustion ) and his Heart breaking Break up with Michelle williams into his work. And He died Fearlessly for something he truly believes in and for his audience whom all creative artist owes to them (audience) because their (artists) work reflect and holds the mirror to the society. And Even he died but he will live forever in the heart of the millions. and I'm sure his final work as The Joker in the Dark Knight has given him the Ultimate Satisfaction as an Actor and he would have also asked himself, because of all these I'm here and this is why I'm doing all these things as an Artist.

Dark Knight is the GOAT movie for this reason, and this reason only - the level of hype that this movie generated prior to its release was perhaps unprecedented, mainly because Batman Begins ended up being a masterpiece in its own rite. The hype for DK built up for at least a year, with (what seemed to me anyway) "every" major brand cross promoting it (burger chains, big box retailers, etc). I remember thinking there is NO WAY any movie could live up to this hype. And sure enough, after standing in line opening weekend, it completely blew my mind.
There are definitely "better" theatrical productions/story lines/etc...but I don't think we'll ever live to see the day a movie can both generate and exceed its own hype ever again.
