That was Mikel's best season. He was untouchable even with the likes of Ballack, Lampard and Deco.

Love when Chelsea won champions league and missed out to Europa and just won it just to prove a point that this was never our original spot.the bragging rights for Chelsea fans in Nigeria was off the roof top. One guy said the just went there just to have different European trophies for future reference 😂😂😂😂😂😂 it's just insane Imagin Chelsea won arsenal this weekend do you know the bragging right Chelsea will have in Nigeria alone

It’s funny how when I look at it, I strongly believe Mikel is a Chelsea legend….I’d have really regretted his picking Chelsea over my beloved Manchester United but Micheal Carrick made sure that didn’t happen 😊

Part of me still feels his career path was derailed at Chelsea! He was one of the best youth prospects from Nigeria at U17 and U20 and was second only to Messi in the 2005 U20 World Cup! An attacking midfielder with skill, strength, balance, and an eye for goal is being converted to a boring defensive midfielder doing the dirty work for the team!
I know by footballing standards and compared to his contemporaries he did well for himself and had a successful career but the fan in me still says "What if?"
As a United fan, I would like to believe SAF would have molded him into a world-class attacking midfielder but we will never know as it might not have worked out!
It is very difficult for young foreigners to come to Europe and get a club and coach that nurtures and believes in their talent so perhaps this was the best for Mikel Obi and his career!
Good bloke though and great interview!

He was ahead of his time in a football sense. He was slow for an attacking midfielder but was an excellent distributor or the ball in high pressure situations. He'd thrive in the game right now say alongside Caicedo just as a regista.

Jon Obi´s strengths were more in keeping the ball and distribution not scoring goals or making assists. I don´t know where you get the balls to say he has a eye for goal from. He has only 1 premiere league goal and only 6 goals scored for Chelsea and Nigeria in total.
I´ll say this Jon Obi´s is a great player when we had Mikel or Matic on out side that´s when Chelsea were the most dominant but even Jon Obi himself would laugh if you called him a great goalscorer.
