@@AJDrives just stayed on top of maintenance is all and didn’t drive it hard all the time. Good idea to not wait for things to break before replacement. Always 91 top tier gas, oil changes roughly every 7k miles. Been running jb+, mild tune, since the first week I got it.
I have a 2013 one of these with 120k on it and I’ve never replaced anything except brake pads and tires. Even my battery is now 10 years old and still tests ok.

@@AudriakasIt was just something the engineer had on his phone. It wasnt on youtube. But you can take a BMW in for a health check at a dealership, it doesnt cost much if not free. They will make a video and send it to you of the recommendations and condition of the vehicle. You can also test the play in the chain yourself. Although personally I would avoid listening to them on brakes and tires and trivial things like that. They will charge you an arm and a leg for work and theres nothing unique about what they do. In fact im not a fan of the Bridgestone tires they recommend. I prefer the cheaper continentals from Les Schwab.
Not gonna lie upgrading you boost pipe, chargepipe, and turbo inlet pipe should be mandatory. Wouldn’t even think about it as problems or maintenance but just prep for tune honestly
I have a 2015 328i that I’m currently using because my 2017 430i is leaking coolant. The 328i was my late fathers, I blew the transmission on it, my sister has involved the car in multiple accidents. I want to restore the car to its original potential so it can be used by my mom or myself. Looking at videos so I can get ideas.
I had a 2012 bmw 528i with the n20 had it for over a year it was my daily and got 195k miles out of it(bought the car with 70k miles on it) with a bm3 stage 1 93 tune on it for 50k miles it was hella reliable and had great gas mileage I never had any issues I did oil changes every 3k miles and did maintenance regularly I ended up blowing the head gasket by running high boost on the motor with the tune (27 psi) all in all great car and I’m pretty sure the 328i is the same way
@@AJDrives is this the problem with bmws second hand depends if the previous owner did the maintenance, i feel they get a bad wrap as they can be incredible with correct maintenance but if something breaks atleast here in australia where there is less quantity of them parts are super expensive compared to if you were in europe or america where theres like 50x more of them

you should look at more videos. this is extreamly uncommon with this engine. i picked this bmw specifically because of the reliablity. had mine for a few years now drove about 52k miles now sitting at 108k miles and i drive the piss out of it and have never had a problem.
My foreman said no. Generally, the European will buy a new BMW 3 series and use them for 5 years only. That's the reason why many spare part including the engine part are made of hard plastic. With a such powerful turbo engine, the hard plastic part will be spoiled easily. In my opinion, this is not worth as you pay so much of money for hard plastic.
That's true! And Generally people don't really take the best care of the cars during the warranty period anyways, just doing the bare minimum. If they're well maintained and taken care of, done proper preventative maintenance & upgrades, They'll last a much longer time!
@rogerbravo5724 its a great car, but maintenance is expensive, valve cover and oil pan are plastic 5k to replace them mine cracked at 100k, i replaced it myself 10 hours labor with chinese aluminum parts so far so good (3 month ago). Timing chain tensioner must be tied or chance of catastrophic failure, but BMW dealer to it for free. First visit to dealer is life, all others are avoidable. One of the best cars you can get if you able to keep engine light off. good luck

@@mohddanial2619 N20 has timing chain issues. Many just snap after 100k km. Theres many more issues as well. I just changed my timing chain set for around rm2.5k a few weeks back for preventive maintenance. The B48 solves many notable issues that the N20 has. But if you know how to maintain your car and know what u need to change. Then go ahead provided you have deeper pockets hehe.

I think if you're going for this Car, make sure you're getting into a well maintained, with good service history car. And make sure to save up some money on the side for any potential repairs and also preventative maintenances! If you do that, you're gonna have a great time driving the car.
2015-2016 models have some of the engines issues resolved. Even then, if maintenance from the previous owners were up to date, you shouldn’t encounter nothing crazy

This is a good car if you're going to be on top of the maintenance. Consistently taking it in every 5k miles and able to afford $500-1000+ maintenance fees when ever you have to replace something. This is the car i have 2013 328i (Sport Package.) Had it for 7 years. Took it in for maintenance every 5k, oil/filters. Up to 162k i had to replace spark plugs, coils, gas tank, transmission service, and computer. After 162k timing chain/guides, spark plugs, valve cover, tank fuel pump and fuel pump control unit. All in the same month. Set me back about $6k in repairs. Put money aside if you plan on getting one.
Why not 2014-15 f30 335i? N55 ewg is very reliable motor, bmw is known for their inline six engines. In USA, f30 335i are cheap, great value compared to 340i, about same price as 330i. N55 only issue is oil leaks, valve cover, oil filter housing gasket, the usual bmw stuff but not timing chain issues or turbo.
335i's are really hard to find where I live. My first choice was a 335i too but at the time there was only 1 available and it was in horrible condition so I decided not to go for it.

Well I was driving only Japanese cars for 15 years. Mostly Honda, some Toyota. All of them petrol. All of them I bought used, 80k to 12k km. You are definitely right, you don’t have any issues with them, when are new or old. Three years ago I bought my first BMW, now we have two in family and only thing I can say. Money you spend on them worth it. So fun to drive. Have to say BMW is not reliable as Japanese car, but is not to expensive to have it. I had some minor things to do but generally reliable car. I have F30 320i but intend to buy 328i
Every mod he did is what we all knew and modified anyways - every bmw owner does those mods. any forum. Any channel. We all tell you to do these mods in your garage. What you walk away with after is a 350hp plus 4 cldr. Stage 3 on this car will get you about 400 hp depending on the quality of your modifications to the engine / turbo upgrade and your tune. After tuning. Faster than most stock performance model vehicles of the lot. The tuning path to these has been well written. It’s been forged already. So if you want to learn about tuning cars. I highly advise this car. It will prepare you for owning a b58 or a s58. If you don’t start here. You basically going to be a imbecile bmw owner who doesn’t know how to take care of his car. I’ve driven mine for over 5 years now running stage 2 on 93 with top of the line performance modifications such as evolution raceworks. People who race these vehicles. Fcp euro is also a good source for what to expect. When buying this car today. It is wise to have about $5,000 to modify it for performance: reliability. What you walk away with after is what any m3 driver will tell you. A bulletproof build. With slightly less power than the generations m3 if you go top shelf with your mods and tune. And upgrade the turbo. The fatal flaw if neglected will be the direct injection. Have spare injectors on hand. Around 100k. If you don’t regularly clean your fuel system. But this is every bmw issues. Not specific to a 328i. Personally been on a stage 2 plus build. I enihilate stock b58 ls off the lot. Reliably. After about 5-6 k in performance mods. Still cheaper to run this car upgraded than a comparable stock b58 engine. Also the issue with any modern b58 is you pretty much stuck with the stock performance until you ship your ecu to Germany to have the dme unlocked. If you don’t mind the extra 10,000 added to the sticker price. Buy a lci 340i. Late model. That would be surpassing m3 performance if modified in the same way. (Any b58 made after 2020 tu 1 engines cannot be tuned. Without a aftermarket dme or a unlocked dme.) your going to struggle with a high learning curve trying to tune a bmw Supra or a m340i or a m3 if you don’t start your bmw ownership on a simpler model and much cheaper model to maintain. Recommend new bmw owners start here. Before you fk up on a much more expensive vehicle trying to keep one of these from catching you. It isn’t uncommon when you talk to m3 owners most of them started with this vehicle. As you progress in knowledge and Professionaly in your career. Pull the trigger on a m3 or m2 or m4 when you are ready. Do not start there. Or your bmw ownership will probably be cut short. This is the reality. Because your not experienced enough to own a m car. Or a b58 (Supra) If it is your first bmw. And you probably won’t have it for long. When tuning these vehicles understand that the n55 all have secondary oil coolers. So you can match that with cooling system upgrades. Such as a racking grade front mount intercooler. Racing grade radiator. These are not cheap. But they will give you reliability under the tune. Keeping temperatures cooler than stock. And stay away from the burble setting. Keep it off. A lot of people underestimate this build. As I live right by a bmw dealership it’s funny when I whip brand new m340i owners on their test drives. They don’t know what hit them.

2010 328 I here. Never given me a problem once. Only general maintenance and still the same battery 😊

2013 328i 108k miles. 100% reliable. not a single problem. had it since 2021 at 60k miles
2014 328i luxury edition 124k miles with a tune. No problems at all

If one is looking to get a F30, would suggest getting the B48 engines 330i LCI instead of N20 engines 328i

328i is much better because have more 241 hp and the motor is forged simple like that. If you tuned stage 1 330 hp or stage 2 with 350 hp 🚀🚀🚀

What you walk away with after is a 350hp plus 4 cldr. Stage 3 on this car will get you about 400 hp depending on the quality of your modifications to the engine / turbo upgrade and your tune. Keeping temperatures cooler than stock. And stay away from the burble setting. Keep it off. A lot of people underestimate this build.
