Not that my opinion counts for much, but this cover of this song (I have the feels for this one) has made me want to hear Diana Krall do an album of Country Standards with that Nashville sound. I.E. the lush strings and lots of steel guitar.
When I finally overcame my fear of singing in public, this was one of the first songs I sang. One other was Tie A Yellow Ribbon. That time was electric for me. I wasted thirty years with that fear. Do not let that happen to you. If you want to sing let it out!
I've just listened to 10 versions of this song, and this is one of the best. Most of the people who do this song are just singing words and carrying a melody, but are detached from the emotion of the song. Sinatra's version is an example of a boring and wooden effort. Lorrie does a better job selling the song, but believe it or not Jimmy Webb who wrote the song does it best. Compare.
She should be in Country Music Hall of Fame
Love this version love the whole album she's soulful and sings the song with such feeling. She's truly an underrated country artist.
It doesn’t get any better. Very nice thank you
Ohmigosh, lush strings and steel guitar...I'm hooked!
Lorrie is my favorite female country artist.
This is the only version I enjoy more than Glen's and that's saying a lot. She nailed it.
You took the words right out of my mouth!
I just looked at some different cover of it. Nope, this one hands down.
Listen to Bobby Goldsboro’s version.
Yeah definitely agree with Trainereric she should be in the Country Hall of Fame for sure, keep it up girl, love you x

@henryahartley did you listen to Reba's version.. I think her version is the most emotional and true to the orginal version.
