Removal of old canes is critical if you are looking to have an amazing harvest of black raspberries next year. We remove canes very early in the season, as soon as we collect blackberries for the season.

Thank you :) I'm glad our video was timely and useful. Good luck with your harvest in future year. We have just removed olde canes from our patch. New growth looks very strong and sturdy. The only tip that I'd have is to not make the double trellis. It's difficult to pick berries from the center of it. We'll be making a trellis with just one supporting line down the middle, it'll be much easier to pick berries this way.
