    I have watched so many videos on pruning raspberries and this is by far the easiest to understand. Thank you.

    I have two Jewel Black Raspberries that are wonderfully productive. When I remove the dead canes in late spring I also remove any skinny new canes, leaving only 3 to 5 fat healthy canes. They still produce a lot, and they're a bit easier to pick. You've gotten me real interested in fall bearing raspberries, and thank you for teaching so clearly!

    Thanks so much for the tutorial! You’re right, I finally understand the way to prune and the reasons to prune the different varieties. I have three different varieties of red raspberries and a black raspberry. I bought the Caroline variety, not realizing it is a fall bearing raspberry. I was confused about whether to prune it all the way down or let it bear twice. Your opinion is very much appreciated! It hasn’t fruited yet, but I will prune it down soon and hope for a good crop in the fall. My black raspberries haven’t really fruited yet either and the info on how to prune them was also helpful, as I am not familiar with them at all. I don’t know the variety on them because I got them from a farmers market and they were not marked. Thanks again!

    I'm a beginner growing raspberries. For summer raspberries, is there any harm in not trimming canes until the next summer so you can tell which are old and dead and which are going to produce?

    Thank you for this. I have been at a loss as to how to prune my raspberries. I’m more than happy to just remove all canes in the winter and get berries only in the fall. I’m not getting that many now anyway.

    I don’t think I’ve ever had raspberries off the vine. The kind I get in the grocery store are so mushy so I’ve never felt led to grow them myself. I’m always amazed by your harvests that you share on Instagram and now with this video I might have to get myself some plants! Thank you friend!

      Thanks! Raspberries pretty much propagate themselves. Especially fall-bearing- they spread like wild.

    Do you plant the black raspberries near you red raspberries or do put them in a different part of the yard? I've read you should separate them, but I don't know anyone who actually grows both.

    • @wholefedhomestead
      @wholefedhomestead  6 месяцев назад +2

      They are near each other, but if I were doing it over I’d probably separate them.

    I need help to identify a purple raspberry a friend grew. It was very upright with strong canes, conical giant fruit, and superb flavor-very different from other raspberry flavors. This was in about zone 5. Any ideas?

    thank you for this. It's my first time trying raspberries. I live in Texas so I have done blackberries. To be sure, Caroline's are fall bearing so I cant cut down the canes to the ground before spring?

      Caroline is fall bearing so you DO cut down the canes before spring. (Though I do think know if things are different in Texas) 👍🏻

      Yes, any "fall raspberry" will be everbearing if you don't prune it.
